About this house rental
Nestled in the heart of Reeth, away from any roads, this former barn or cow’us (cow house) as they are known locally, has been transformed into a charming retreat, perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. These cow houses are a distinctive feature of the Yorkshire Dales landscape and are rarely converted into residential use due to planning restrictions, making this stay a rare opportunity. Reeth itself is a picturesque Swaledale village boasting quaint tea rooms, traditional pubs, and a cobbled market square. The surrounding landscape offers an array of activities, from strolls to challenging hikes. Directly from the doorstep, wander through scenic trails leading to the stunning Swaledale Valley. Whether seeking tranquillity or adventure, this cosy retreat in Reeth offers an ideal base to experience the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales.
This traditional stone cow’us is a tranquil haven tucked away in a serene spot. As you walk across your gravel courtyard, your retreat awaits. Bursting with character, this unique property features high-beamed ceilings, a walled garden and oodles of traditional character. The cow’us has an open-plan living area with a cosy wood burner at its heart. Two well-positioned armchairs invite you to enjoy a snug evening, warmed by the stove’s flickering flames. The same flickering flames from the stove can also be enjoyed from the comfortable king-size bed, this creates a truly special atmosphere. A spiral staircase leads up to a charming mezzanine area with glass balustrades, 12 hanging globe lights, a fitted kitchen, a table for two and a comfy sofa.
In the morning, refresh yourself in the shower room before stepping out to your charming courtyard. Enjoy a traditional cup of Yorkshire tea amidst your peaceful surroundings, then embark on a walk through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
