About this house rental
Oneonesevenns is a terrace on a quiet no-through residential street with excellent links to the Coast Rd and A1. Links by metro and by bus to the city and coast are excellent and services are frequent. Parking is free and on-street.
The house is close to small bays and long, sandy family beaches. Paddleboarding and surfing is popular. There is a causeway to St Mary's Lighthouse at Whitley Bay which is popular for seal and dolphin spotting, and rock-pooling. The towns, along the coastline, provide great shopping (independents are plentiful), eateries, ice-cream parlours, cafes and restaurants. At night there are plenty of bars and independent breweries that host gigs, comedy, independent cinema and some theatre. The Fish Quay is the emerging hip place; a stroll from the house. Along the coastline you can find a boating lake, playgrounds, inflatables, tennis courts, crazy golf, pitch n put and an aquarium. Tynemouth is popular for the priory ruins and Riley's fish shack on the beach.
Oneonesevenns is MY home; available in all UK school holidays. It has been completely redecorated and made comfortable and beautiful. It sleeps 4 formally, but the sofa bed, chaise and futon provide extra 'informal' sleeping for as many as 8 (some children/teens).
The Mistress bedroom attracts most guests due to the luxurious king-sized French bed. The walls have a natural patina which was a joy to uncover. There is hanging and drawer space available and a vintage 'Sindy' dressing table. The bathroom has been refurbished in the last 6 months, providing a beautiful, functional and cosy room with soft ensconced lighting for long soaks. The dining room is a large room which floods with natural light, and has a fireplace. It's great for cosy Christmas and New Year gatherings and the table can seat 6. There is also a chaise (which serves as a reading/music nook) and a beautiful credanza containing table linen. The house is only decorated on request for Christmas guests.
In the lounge there are navy cafe shutters which lend a great deal of character, 2 velvet sofas; one a sofa bed, and another fireplace. The Mezzanine bedroom is used as a creative space so the double mattress is on the mezzanine, accessed by reinforced shelving which complies with weight guidance for such structures. It is ideal for children, who love it, but it is NOT for playing, only sleeping. Adults do also use this space. This room has a double closet with hanging space where the iron/board/drying items are stored. The house features wooden (hard) floors, so it is largely dust-free and always immaculately presented. There is a small garden at the front (hedges/flowers) but at the rear there is a good-sized south-facing 'yarden' with painted walls, plants, a cafe set and comfortable seating. It is a sun-trap in spring and summer providing a quiet and safe (enclosed) space for reading, chatting or playing children. It's great for storing bikes, boards and drying beach gear. Many places at the coast can't provide this. Parking at the coast is also expensive.
There is a cemetery behind the houses opposite - a popular Green Flag space where many people walk dogs, but which also provides quick access to a large supermarket, a swimming pool and the beach road. It is well worth strolling around. There are bus stops at either end of the street and a Tesco Express/petrol garage about 100m away at the top of the street.
If you visit Oneonesevenns you won't be disappointed. All guests have awarded the property 5 stars in all categories. This is its second year. If you visit the NE you won't be disappointed.
The airport is about a 20 minute drive, Gosforth Racecourse is 15mins and the city is 15 minutes. The ferry terminal to Amsterdam is a 5min drive so 2 nights can be booked for onward travellers. Heaton and Jesmond (both popular student areas) are 8 mins along the Coast Rd. There is a large shopping retail area 5 mins away where the Tyne Tunnel meets the Coast Rd and the A1 takes you North to Northumberland; and all the intense beauty to be discovered to the north. The ferry to South Shields is a walk away at the Fish Quay, so Oneonesevenns is always booked in advance of the Great North Run. It's usually booked a year in advance. I love hosting guests. All my visitors have been so respectful of my home and I look forward to hosting more happy guests.
Oneonesevenns is a no-smoking property and not suitable for parties. Cats are welcome.
