what an amazing place in the Wilderness!
nothing
1.5
The breakfast and dinner( included in the price) was of very poor quality.
The remoteness of the place is not a factor because there are several big ,very well stocked ,supermarkets in close proximatety.
They saved money on the food and the quality was inferior. They didn't have a chef , or a cook.:Only someone that heats up deep freeze food . The coffee was bad quality. If you wanted better coffee you had to pay extra !!!
This place is about making money. not interested . Much better alternatives in the area.
Food was very bad. They should hire a real chef or cook.
I also had to ask for shampoos ,conditioners . these were not replaced when empty.
The place is run by amators , and you have to pay a lot for this. The owners are only interested in making money.

Charming hotel on the shores of Lake Inari. The overall vibe is intimate and slow-paced. Our room had wooden walls, private sauna and was very spacious. Dinner was great both nights we were there, we liked the buffet + main course formula.
Breakfast could be a bit more varied. Need more towels in the rooms with private sauna.
4.5
Great hotel, delicious food, comfy rooms and easy access to the (frozen) lake. Good place to see the auroras.
For cross country skiing and walking their partner hotel (Muotka Wilderness Hotel) would have better opportunities, as it is next to Saariselkä.

Lovely engaging staff
Remote feeling
Prettiness of resort

The setting is gorgeous, right on the lake, which was frozen in December and truly beautiful. I even saw the northern lights right at the hotel premises… the staff alerted everyone in the restaurant to step out and there was the aurora, at like 18h00.
The wilderness room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Loads of hot water in the shower (very important!). My view was not the best, but during polar night it doesn’t make much difference.
All the buildings that make up the hotel are built in the chalet style (except the aurora cabins on the lake, which look like space capsules), making the ensemble very appealing visually.
The staff were great… polite, helpful, always with a smile, big plus!
Perfect for romantic escapades, but if you go solo you’ll be the odd one out. And as it really is in the middle of nowhere (albeit a very beautiful nowhere), there is nothing to do all day except the activities offered. The way all social spaces (lobby, bar, restaurant, lounge) are together in one big room doesn’t help either.
The vegetarian options for dinner were rather basic.

Great place - Hotel is beautiful in a great location. Sauna was perfect after a rainy day. The food in the restaurant was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Beds have been some of the most comfortable i have slept in Finland. Highly recommend, 10/10 will visit again when I'm in the area

Everything was like a fairy tale: the location, the amenities, the activities were so well organised, the food was excellent and the staff was really exceptional.
Perhaps additional sofas around the common area to have some rest.

Loved staying in the aurora igloos. Got to see the northern lights. The location is beautiful. Staff were fab.
Airport transfer was very expensive. Also would have liked more options on the dinner menu.

An incredible ambiance in the middle of nature. The surroundings invite you to take leisurely walks. The activities are in small groups and therefore highly recommended. The guides were very nice and had a lot to tell. The breakfast and dinner were very good and relatively extensive. The open kitchen in the evening always made for a nice chat with the chef.
We booked the Wilderness room and were not very satisfied with the price/performance. Unfortunately, it was noticeable that the staff was very understaffed due to Corona and therefore we were not satisfied with the service. We were not asked once at dinner if we wanted anything to drink except water. We got that ourselves. The staff was unfortunately not able to organise cigarettes in 4 days, although taxis or shuttles arrived every hour.

Exceptional location, amazing staff, so helpful. A family-run business and Nangu surely must be the jewel in the hotel group. Only stayed one night (sadly) in our Finland tour before we flew back to London and what a way to end our holiday. Thank you to Essi and her team. We will return.
Perhaps a little more choice in the main course for dinner and lunch?

Breakfast very good with great choice of items. Maybe only point of critique is that there was, next to knackebrod, small rolls and croissants, only one type of bread. Ambience of the hotel was great.
Diner was excellent, the courses were really well prepared. However, as a non-meat eater there was only one main course on the menu, a veggie hamburger. Though delicious, three days on a row hamburger is too much. When we asked for day hikes in the vicinity, the hotel could suggest none, except go fishing in the lake. We had to go to the nearest national park for our hikes, 50 km away.

Cozy, comfortable, large room. Kind staff. As I was sitting in the lounge bar, the staff came up to me and asked if they could offer me coffee or tea :) Very kind of her :) Nice view on the lake and excellent breakfast - diverse and tasteful.
Possible wifi options in the room.

This place is a veritable paradise .
Magnificent location, which has been turned into a great holiday resort. Rooms have a Wow factor you should discover for yourself. Staff were lovely, telephoned to check where we were, were concerned for our safety when we asked to take a canoe out on the lake, which came at no extra charge and delighted when we asked to use the sauna. We love it so much we are already planning our return in Spring.
Absolutely Perfect

Hotel staff and guides were incredible with such a high level of service and hospitality - Thank you to Mika, Astrid, and Aika (apologies if I’ve misspelt any of your names) for such a fantastic time on the excursions (snowmobiling, reindeer farm, and husky safari) and for being so accommodating. Shoutout to Magdalena for all her help and for alerting us when the aurora was visible over the lake on our first night!!
We saw the northern lights 4 out of 5 nights we were there - including from our aurora cabin on the last night. Hotel facilities were in impeccable condition and the winter gear provided was warm, of such a high quality, and most importantly clean. Dinner (although a set menu) was heartwarming and very tasty! There is also complimentary tea and coffee provided throughout the day, perfect for sitting by the fireplace after a cold day out!
This is an adults-only hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed the silence surrounded by such beautiful wintery landscape. I would highly recommend.
