About this villa rental
This luxury villa has been meticulously refurbished by its architect owner to create a minimalist and contemporary home whilst maintaining the elements and spirit of its original architecture. The house is characterized by the soft Aegean light pouring in through its numerous French doors and large bay windows allowing sea views from almost all rooms. The materials, furnishings and appliances of the house have been carefully chosen and designed. The core of the villa is composed by the spacious and stylish living and dining room area. The living room with its imposing cross-vaulted ceiling has been furnished in a sleek and modern manner in order to create absolute comfort whereas the focus of the dining room is the unique and seemingly endless oak table equally suited to dining, leisure and work. The modern kitchen combines clean lines with maximum functionality. It has views both to the garden and the sea and is connected to the airy breakfast lounge with access to the courtyard.
The garden: The south facing garden is an oasis in its own right with olive and bougainvillea trees encircling the inviting swimming pool. This space provides ample opportunities for both relaxing by the pool and entertaining by the generous and sun-sheltered garden table.
The terraces: From the garden, stone steps lead to the mansion’s roof terraces offering unparalleled 360 degree views of the island and the surrounding Cycladic archipelago. At sunset, the terrace lounge area provides an ideal setting for the aperitivo hour - before hitting the local night scene.

This property was hard to leave because the stay was so nice. The villa is beautiful, the courtyard and pool were the perfect size for our family. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Easy walking distance to Fira. My children loved having different rooms to hangout in. Having the windows open, according to instructions kept the house cool with a nice breeze. It felt like we lived in Santorini. The house manager was very responsive, and the driver that we used through the property manager took us wherever we wanted to go, and made us feel incredibly safe.
We would absolutely stay here again.

The property manager and host were great and easily accessible if we had any questions or concerns. The host, Johan, was also great at providing recommendations for our group while on the island! The house had plenty of room for our group of 6 people and was perfectly located near town.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights in Santorini as 3 adult couples. It was a very large unit so we could enjoy each others company but also have privacy. Johan and Eleni were incredibly nice and accommodating. Johan is super responsive. We would love to return.

This is such a beautiful and spacious house in a great location in Imerovigli. Our family had plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. The kids had fun in the pool and we enjoyed watching sunrises on the rooftop. We hope to stay here again when we return to Santorini!

Overall the villa is wonderful. Artfully done, mimimalist arresting decor with a kitchen ample for cooking. The host is very communicative and both Eleni (cleaner) and Kostas (pool man) were wonderful.
The only issues I think prospective guests should be aware of are these. The third bedroom (without A/C) is down very steep stairs from the kitchen wing of the house. The third bathroom, though large is on the other side of the villa and down another steep flight of stairs. The main floor bathroom is miniscule with inadequate lighting. All that being said, it is a lovely place and Eleni came twice during the week we were there to change the linens and clean. I just think, in full disclosure, guests should be aware of the issues mentioned before determining whether to book. Stairs are definitely an issue.

Beautiful villa, spotlessly clean and well maintained. We chose the right area, not too busy but with plenty of restaurants to choose from and a local store for supplies. The walk into Fira was the most photogenic we’ve ever experienced with dramatic views at every turn. A wonderful short break on a truly unique island.

The property is even more beautiful than it appears in the pictures. Thick white walls that glowed pink with the sunrise. So much character and everything is well-appointed. The owners/care takers made everything seamless. We never needed the air conditioners (although it was mild June weather). The hot water is a bit limited but it was okay if you didn’t take super long showers. I think there is a hot water backup but we didn’t need it. This area is a great alternative to the tourist-packed towns North and South of it. Would recommend using taxis and transfers rather than renting a car. Driving here is a bit intense. Would recommend walking towards the sea or walking out to the big rock to see the sunset as the rooftop is better for sunrises than sunsets. Or book a table for the tasting menu at Four Senses for a sunset dinner.

We stayed for a week at Johan’s property in early June. The location is footsteps from the Caldera cliff tops in Imerovigli, yet in a quiet area of town so superb for whatever your needs. We made the daily walk along the coastal path into Fira a must. It doesn’t matter how many times you see the views, just takes your breath away.
The property is exceptionally well presented.
Has to be one of the best we’ve been fortunate to visit. Everything you could possibly need and more. We particularly liked the attention to detail, really well thought out to help you relax. The split level roof terraces are stunning and we found it was a battle to decide between this and the pool courtyard. You get the sun all day. It’s truly a beautiful home, trust me you won’t want to leave!
Our hosts Johan, Eleni and Kostas ensured that our stay was managed so professionally and courteously, they were very kind. It’s the little things that make such a difference and you take such care in ensuring we had a lovely stay.
Thank you.
Fira is a fun place to hang out whether it’s a morning, afternoon or evening. It feels perfectly safe, generally packed full of cruise ship visitors, which gives the place a buzz, yet you don’t struggle to find a bar or restaurant to cater for most budgets, just seems to work well. I don’t doubt it’s different in peak season.
We hope to return one day.

Host was extremely responsive and welcoming giving a personalized tour once we arrived. The property is so spacious and spotless. The town is in a great spot - quick Uber or taxi to either Fira or Oia but you get incredible sunset views (and views in general) right from the property or even better a few steps away. Nearby small store for snacks, drinks, etc as well as a few restaurants. Don’t hesitate to book this place!

We loved the property and location. It’s walking distance from anything you need but at the same time is almost secluded and private.
Communication with host was smooth and cleaning was spotless. What a lovely place

Beautiful villa
Out family of five absolutely loved this beautifully decorated, renovated and spacious villa. The courtyard is adorable, the views from the rooftop terrace and upstairs- stunning! The location is central, yet quiet! Great restaurants with the famous Santorini sunsets nearby and a famous landmark is just around the corner. Last but not least, the hosts were absolutely wonderful - prompt communication, airport transfer booking, sightseeing and restaurant recommendations! We couldn’t be happier and would most definitely recommend to friends and family! Can’t wait to return hopefully soon!

Perfect for our group
The perfect place for our group! We were there with 3 couples and it worked very well for us. Everything was as mentioned in the listing and we enjoyed the privacy in the pool area and also the large living room for relaxing evenings. The location is within walking distance of various types of good restaurants, bars etc.

Comfort and Relaxation
The villa is the perfect environment to relax and enjoy the beauty of Santorini. The location in Imerovigli is a short walking distance to markets, restaurants, shops, transportation and sunset views.
The villa is a stunning design, well equipped with modern conveniences. It was the perfect way for six friends to unwind after a fast paced two week tour of Greece. We enjoyed breakfast in the serene garden and planned the day’s activities. The pool was a perfect way to cool down in the afternoon sun.
Johan was a wonderful host and was very responsive to my questions. Eleni greeted us and made our stay comfortable in every way. I highly recommend the villa, and look forward to returning.

A Real Gem
Beautiful property situated in what is considered to be the most beautiful town In Santorini. Great restaurants within walking distance. Water and land activities abound. Rustic, rugged beauty everywhere. Very considerate and responsive owner. The people of Santorini very friendly and eager to help. Our friends as well as ourselves were extremely happy with the well appointed home. The rooftop views were spectacular both at sunrise and sunset. Hope to return to this gem in the Aegean.

Great location with rare private pool
Privacy is hard to come by in Santorini so the courtyard and pool were special and welcome. The house was comfortable and beautifully furnished, the location in the square fantastic. Amazing coffee and gelato a stones throw away, lots of great restaurants within walking distance, and beautiful caldera views just steps from the villa. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend if you want easy access to Fira and Oia but a quiet place to relax after sightseeing.

This is the first negative review I have left on VRBO after many years of staying in lots of different places in many different countries. However, our week here was not good, and I don’t want others to come here and have the same experience. This home is not designed to handle to the July heat. The home only has AC in two bedrooms, and neither of them work to truly make the rooms feel cool because the rest of the house is so hot. The rest of the home has no AC, and it is a miserable experience. It was so hot we never even cooked a meal here. According to the many locals we did excursions with each day, many days there are no breezes in July, and this is why opening the windows was no help most of the time. The house was almost always hotter inside than outside despite leaving windows open at night, etc. We tried everything. The 2nd story was unbearable as the heat rises...even the basement where the 2 twin beds are located was hot. It was so hot our 15 year old son and 17 year old daughter ended up sharing the main level queen bedroom with AC. If you have teens, you know they do everything possible to have their own space, but these were extreme circumstances. The home is situated at the very top of a hill where the sun beats down on the house all day, and there is no shade at all. You will not be lounging on the rooftop, and you will not want to sit in the courtyard on July days. Many days, we took cold showers just trying to cool down from being out on the island and having to return to a hot house. We booked 6 nights and 7 days here (way too long to stay in Santorini), and we were hoping to have days to just rest. Instead, we needed up booking an excursion for everyday except one to try to just stay away from the hot house. The owner did bring fans after I sent a message saying we needed to find different accommodations due to heat. Go rent something with AC throughout the home and with amazing views of the Caldera. It is a must for summer heat. We absolutely cannot recommend this house for summer months. Our teenagers said they wanted a shirt that says, “We survived Santorini.”

Oasis in Imerovigli
This property was an oasis from the crowds and tourists in Santorini during peak season of summer. The villa is architecturally pleasing, understatedly elegant, and perfectly located. You can walk to coffee each morning, the local market, and are literally steps away from the most glorious sunsets ever. Down the block is an absolutely breathtaking view of Skaros rock! Johan was the perfect host, arranging airport transits, and responding quickly to any question. If you want the sights of Santorini yet serenity and privacy, this villa is the perfect locale.
1.0 / 5.0
The best thing about the villa was the location. You are close to restaurants and the drive or walk to other areas is very short. The pictures on line are not reflective of the actual villa. It is minimally furnished and lacked the basic amenities to make it comfortable for our adult family of five. There was limited seating both inside and out. One of the bedrooms was in the basement with nothing but a small window covered with mesh and bars. It was like a dungeon. Pictures of the water were not accurate. Water views were dramatically When you were hindered by the electrical wires. The worst part was the lack of communication from the owner. We went 2 1/2 days with no warm water to shower. They didn’t respond to emails. Finally, the care taker arrived and showed us how to turn on the hot water. They hid the switch behind a picture in the basement!!!! If you are spending that much money you might as well rent from one of the really lovely boutique hotels on the water. if you’re looking to be highly disappointed from the altered photos and exaggerated description, then this is your place. This experience definitely put a slight damper on our visit to Santorini.

Best location on the island
We went to Santorini for a wedding that turned out to be fifty yards away so this villa was quite a find! We loved Imerovigli because it is away from the crowds of Oia and Fira but easy to get there when you want to. The pictures do not do the view justice! There are clear sea views and you must go to the roof at night for star gazing. You can be in a restaurant or taverna in 2 minutes yet not hear a sound at night. The kitchen and baths are great and have every modern convenience. We did the hike to Oia which was spectacular and took a taxi here me for 25€. If your fit do that, you won’t regret it! Johans tips on restaurants were spot on. I recommend if you rent a car get it from Jimmys right there in the village so he can park it at night as village parking can get tight but rent from home m and he’ll have a spot for you plus he’s 1/3 the hertz price at the airport. It is probably one of the biggest villas and the pictures are real! What is not clear in the listing is just how close you are to everything and how quiet it is yet steps from the great caldera views. Don’t hesitate on this one if it is available!

A memorable stay
We had the most wonderful holiday in Santorini. The villa was absolutely beautiful and did not let us down. Much more spacious than the photos suggest, especially the living area. Outside views from the top of the villa fabulous seeing the full island. The villa was clean and had everything we needed. We were 6 friends. It is also in a convenient location with privacy despite being by the caldera which is unusual. The walled garden had ample room for loungers and the pool was great for a cool down. Shops and great restaurants very close and Thira walkable distance too. The owner Johan was most helpful from start to finish with clear and timely responses to our questions. Especially helpful for us in arranging pick ups and transfers. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Villa, idyllic setting
We stayed at Johan’s beautiful villa from 18th-25th Aug 2018.
The villa was stunning and in a perfect setting. If you walk out the villa and turn right you are only a few steps away from breathtaking views.
Johan and his team were so helpful and we felt very welcome.
I would highly recommend the villa and the location to anyone visiting Santorini!

Perfect
The villa was all we hoped for and more. We were over for our daughters wedding and Johan could not have been more helpful and patient with my numerous e- mails before our visit! Eleni the housekeeper was also wonderful. The villa is stunning and beautifully equipped, I do not understand some of the negative review comments about the bathrooms they were absolutely fine. We did not want to leave either the villa or Santorini. We would not hesitate to recommend it we had a wonderful week.

Beautiful property
Can’t say enough good things about this property. Courtyard with pool was the perfect place to relax. House was private - a rarity on Santorini. We were two couples and a baby and found the place extremely spacious. The house is situated steps away from the beautiful cliffs/views. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Gorgeous!! A beautiful home with spectacular views.
I highly recommend a holiday at Johan's home on Malteza Square in Imerovigli. You will not be disappointed. The house is absolutely impecible, inside and out. The sweeping views of the Agean from the multi-level rooftop balconies are amazing. And the courtyard pool is the perfect place to cool off and relax. I stayed with my kids, and we loved every minute of our time there. Johan made sure we felt at home and comfortable throughout our stay. The location is great too. We traveled all around the island and Imerovigli was definitely our favorite village. There are markets and restaurants within a few min walk... And of course breathtaking views around every turn. Luxury, privacy, location, space, charm, views... Seriously, this home has it all.

Serene Villa and quiet luxury in Imerovigli
We arrived to Imerovigli at night and Eleni was at the Villa to greet us. She showed us around and then left us to explore for ourselves, letting us know she would return mid week to clean. We immediately were tempted by the stone steps leading us up to rooftop after rooftop to see the nighttime views of Imerovigli.
The courtyard and pool is where we lived all week because the weather was perfect.
But the great room/dining area is stunning!! The vaulted ceilings and windows bring beautiful light into the space. The same is true of the breakfast area. The architectural details throughout, and natural stone make the Villa truly special. It is close by to wonderful restaurants and steps away from the paths that thread throughout the island. After walking all day amid the beautiful, yet crowded paths of the Caldera towns, it was delightful to come home to the quiet refreshment of the Villa's pool and to recharge before going out to dinner. There is a/c, but at this time of year, we did not use it. Sleeping with windows open was delightful. Johan was very attentive as was Eleni. We had a wonderful time on Santorini and we would definitely stay at the Villa in Imerovigli on a return trip.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Villa and location perfect
We have just returned from a week at Johan's villa and I agree with everything the 5 star reviews have eloquently described. I would like to add that Johan, from the beginning, was extremely responsive. We didn't need to contact him with any problems, but he was great with organising our transfers to the airport and with our requests for an early check in which he was able to accommodate. We had to check out at 11 as there were other guests arriving that day but he kindly arranged for us to leave our suitcases at the villa as we had a late flight out. It was
a pleasure dealing with him.
Other guests have described the serene and private nature of the villa, and I will remember watching both the sunrise and the sunset from the roof terrace. Amenities were great - top of the line appliances and spacious, pleasant living space. We knew before arriving that the 3rd bathroom was remote from the bedroom, so it was not a problem for us. Although "elderly" we managed the steps in the middle of the night just fine.
The location is great - away from the cruise ship crowds but Fira can be reached by foot on the caldera path.
I heartily recommend Villa Maltese and the town of Imerovigli

Amazing villa in an amazing location
This is the best villa we could stay in Santorini! Perfectly clean, decoration is simple and amazing, easy access to everything. Villa's location is perfect, close to a market, pharmacy, coffe store everything you might need is in 3-5 minutes walking distance. Unlikely to other villas and houses in Santorini this place has privacy which is an important issue. Pool is smaller than the pictures but bigger than any pools we saw in Santorini. Check in and check out is not very flexible:) Johan is very helpful and kind. We were 4 girls and stayed 4 nights and if we ever go to Santorini again we would definitly stay here!
Thank you very much Johan!
