Great location. Lovely historic building well converted to modern use. Very nice staff.
My room was a little compact!

An historic hotel in a good location.
We had booked a king room but were disappointed by the size of the room. It was a small corner room on a low floor with no view. The bathroom was one of the smallest we have stayed in.
It’s an easy walk to the attractions at The Forks and near by restaurants.

I was upgraded to a suite with a chaise lounge , huge tub, etc. lovely!
The tub was new and the water had not been turned on but the separate shower was excellent anyway. Food was delicious too

History and location
I was in a room close to the noisy lift. I chose a more expensive hotel to recover after a long haul flight from Australia. Was disappointed that it was noisy. The staff raised the lift noise with me but said they were booked out.

Once we were reassigned to a room that did not have the only window facing a solid brick wall about 10 feet away (a "light shaft") everything was A-OK. We originally reserved a room with a Queen bed, and windows on the "front of the hotel" and this is what we were expecting when we went up to the room. However, when I expressed our profound dissatisfaction immediately after seeing the assigned room and returned to the front deck we were upgraded to a King room WITH windows on the east of the hotel overlooking the river, train station, museum, etc..
The check-in clerk originally said that we were being given a "Queen room with windows on the front of the hotel!" Lies are not a good idea!

Location - excellent for visiting The Forks and for access to various parts of Winnipeg. The room was large.
There was no continental/buffet breakfast. The only cereal breakfast we could get was granola (not my preference), with yogurt and fresh fruit. Combined with coffee and orange juice, for two, it cost us $66!
There was no "TV Guide" on the television - only a channel that displayed rolling listings of the TV Schedule, which was not user searchable. The hotel is showing its age. There was no coffee bar - fortunately there's a Starbucks close by and there are a couple of good coffee shops at The Forks.

Hotel style and environment
Bad service. Didn't fix technical issues in the room when requested. Front Desk didn't answer to our calls ( twice ) around 22.30 pm on Friday night as some clients were making a lot of noise.
No shade in the bathroom.

the location & staff were the best thing about the property
we arrived to our room it was extremely small the bathroom was dirty and uncomfortable, the walls are paper thin you can hear other people so loudly it’s awkward. to be honest the hotel felt gross and dirty the moment you left the lobby.

Everything was great, especially the food at the Oval Brasserie. My only complaint was that my stay was so brief. Next time, I will stay longer.
The staff are all very friendly and accommodating here.

No safe in room. Apparently none of the rooms have them. Also no fridge, though they will provide one of those if you ask.
