Great location. Excellent croissants for breakfast. Very friendly staff. Felt safe and homely.

Excellent hotel, close to everything. The staff always with a good disposition. Highly recommended, I will definitely return to this hotel on my next trip to SF.

Three additional charges to my credit cards I can't remember other than right one. Despite repeated conversation, still no resolution. No show charge posed though I told them I was not able to shou up due to my flight schewdule but keep my room IN ADVANCE. It was for my stay in January. We call it a FRAUD.

Room was ok, bed a bit too soft.
The breakfast very poor. Very disappointing. No ham, no cheese, no bacon (actually one day there was bacon but that days there was no sausages). No vegetables, no beans, no tomatoes, no mushrooms. No espresso, no cappuccino, just long American coffee. That’s was very disappointing for a French inspired hotel.

bathroom was not cleaned.
Soundproof between the room is terrible.

The location was absolutely wonderful!!! The rooms were nice and clean, we loved the concept of the hotel, very charming!
no breakfast but there is a small, absolutely brilliant cafe across the street :( The elevator was rather weird.

small lobby

The fact we booked a Delux Queen room, this is not we were first offered. We were moved when we complained still no Queen Delux room. I booked this hotel because l though it would have a charm of its own and not be to corporate unfortunately this was not the case.

We loved the French theme throughout. Each floor featured a French artist. I did wish the restaurant was still open, but coffee and oranges available in the lobby and good breakfasts were steps away at Roxanne’s. In the Junior Suite we had a lovely separate sitting room, where my daughters and I gathered each evening to visit. The bed was very comfortable. Although it had a mind of its own sometimes, the historic elevator added to the charm. The two staff we saw most were friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect for us: cable car and three good restaurants steps from our door, and we could walk through Chinatown, Little Italy and Fisherman’s Wharf from there.

Greeted by the most miserable receptionist you've ever had the misfortune to encounter. No heating, had to borrow an oil heater.Great location.Typical I suppose for America. The place is an abomination. Ridiculously over-hyped at every turn.Homeless/drug problem way ,way ,way out of control and they won't do a thing about it.They say they are but the disperancy between rich and poor is quite frankly SICKENING.NEVER GET SICK THERE.However, the people who work there are brilliant bar the one I saw....

The location was great for Union Square and the cable car stopped right outside....Rooms were cleaned everyday, fresh bedding and towels.
On arrival we were "greeted??" By the most uninterested ,unfriendly young receptionist, who clearly didn't want to be there.she showed absolutely no enthusiasm in telling us any information, nor did she ask if we needed any help or assistance...When I asked if there was a lift she just pointed over to one without saying a word ..The reviews of this property are out of date regarding how wonderful this place is and the manager" Franck" is no longer there although new manager Philippe was very helpful, especially getting us a radiator as the heating in the hotel was not working...
I was expecting more after reading the reviews on this hotel, they certainly don't match the reality...

All the female staffs were very friendly, something unepected happed during our stay but we got quick and proper help, things were resolved quickly. Bathroom was clean and TV with built-in Netflix is worth extra points!

The location was fantastic, close to everything.
Everything was great, It would have nice to have a fridge in the room but it's not big deal,

This is a wonderful alternative to the standard, off-the-shelf cooky-cutter hotel. Lots of authentic charm surrounding its French heritage.
Naturally for a small, older hotel, the offerings regarding front-desk presence, in-house conveniences (gym, etc.) were limited and house-keeping was missed once. But all of these did not affect my quality of stay.
4.1
The hotel has a unique history with very unique artwork, never seen such care put into a place. Quaint and cozy.
I have no point of reference to other SF hotels, but the rooms felt a bit crammed.
4.1
The hotel reflects the love and dedication the owners have invest into the hotel
the fact that we were not able to stay in the beautiful rooms

Great location, very relaxing atmosphere, great staff, accommodation’s…. felt like I was at home….. very quiet…. loved all the artists painting and details that have been painted in the rooms. Enjoyed congratulations with the owners… would love to stay again in the future
The elevator was not working the day we left… bringing down suitcases from a 3rd floor narrow staircase was not easy…..

location and price
tight, European type room
