L’accueil, la gentillesse et la générosité de Anthéa. Les petits déjeuners incroyables et les œufs frais :)
Les conseils et les échanges ! Merci :)

The property was perfectly located for the old town of Nanaimo and the seafront. The host (Anthea) was rather special. It is clear that she absolutely loves hosting. She was a mind of information about where to eat in Nanaimo and also about the rest of the Island. She couldn’t have been more helpful.
Nothing.

Breakfast okay, nicely presented fruit. But dogs everywhere jumping on you as you ate.
Location was good.
Dogs should be kept out of the dining area. Sitting area for the guests should not be used as the feeding area for both 2 dogs and a cat. Smelled of pets.

Very comfortable and quiet. Good size rooms and washroom. Nice backyard and sitting rooms.
Friendly hostess and very knowledgeable about the island.

Located within walking distance to many good restaurants.
Lovely breakfast provided, which could also accommodate a gluten free diet.
Very quiet neighbourhood.
2 very friendly dogs were a bit overexcitable, and a cat wandered freely throughout the common areas.
This could be a problem for those with pet allergies.

Only stayed one night, location seemed good, very good breakfast and bathroom, very accommodating. Host very pleasant.
First time at a B&B.

Anthea is an amazing Host, so welcoming, made us feel right at home. The room was super clean, bed was very comfy. It was a lovely surprise to find a cupboard stocked with plates, cups, glasses, and kettle. We were able to have an instant coffee in the room. Be sure to take the time in the morning for the incredible breakfast. We will be back.

Campbell Cottage is right by the downtown waterfront, with walking access to excellent restaurants. The host was lovely, the linens very fine, with an immaculate room. We slept like babies and awoke to a delicious breakfast. And it was minutes to the Ferry terminal in the morning.

Anthea, the owner, was absolutely welcoming to my dog Kaya and I. Her home is inviting and well maintained. Cleanliness is a priority and the room was quaint and very comfortable. She is an excellent chef and her place setting was so sweet and carefully thought out. Her two dogs Bella and Daisy were adorable and added to my dogs love for our stay. Her garden is peaceful and I enjoyed resting after traveling for so long in the serenity of it. Anthea is kind, a great conversationalist and ensured my stay was the best experience possible; checking in with me to see whether I needed anything and was content. I will definitely recommend a stay at Campbell Cottage B and B.

The owner's attitude. The inaccurate description and the aggressive dog.
I can't provide a full review because we didn't stay in this bedroom. I want everyone on Booking.com to be aware that this is not a "Cottage", but a lady renting a single room in her private home. While that may technically meet the criteria of a B&B in British Columbia, it is not at all clearly expressed in the Booking.com listing (compare it with her listing on AirBnB.com or BringFido.com and you will see she is far more clear on those websites).
There is a private bathroom, across the hall/ There is not a fridge or microwave in the room, as depicted in photos on the listing. The refrigerator on offer is in a separate private room and was more than half full of pet food and medication.
When told that we did not understand that the booking was for a private room in a private residence, the owner changed her demeanor dramatically and said she would be more comfortable if we left, since we were not comfortable. She said "I will refund your money"...So we agreed and took a few minutes to find alternate accommodation. As we collected our things and headed out the door she said "I will only refund one night; I didn't say I will refund ALL your money." So just like her listing, she uses vagueness to mislead.
Lastly, we forgot to pick up our dog's travel bed, and of course she never bothered to call or message to offer to return it.
So be careful of your expectations, and don't upset her - or else!!
The owner will likely reply with a response contorted to her infallible view as she has with other negative reviews. She told booking our expectations were "unrealistic", "unreasonable", etc...

Very high quality accommodation. Room and bathroom spotless. Extremely friendly host who is happy to give recommendations. Close to high quality restaurants which are better than the ones in the town centre
If you have mobility issues it's probably not advisable for you. About 15 minute walk to old town Nanaimo.

We arrived early at the property just as the owner was pulling off of her drive but didn’t see us. We rang the bell in case someone else was in, but no joy. We came back to the property twice more before finally returning before 15:00 and still no one was there. We decided to give it 15 more minutes before looking for somewhere else to stay, as it was a holiday weekend and we were concerned we wouldn’t get somewhere, We took photographic evidence from the sat Nav showing the address and time and also a photo of the note I left for the owner explaining why we had left. It wasn’t until we got to another hotel that I was able to connect to the internet and picked up the email from the owner saying she wouldn’t be there , but to use the key in the key safe (pin provided!!??) and let ourselves into her house and makes ourselves at home and not to mind the dogs that would bark at us and that one was a bit nervous! Seriously? I then received a slightly obnoxious voice message from the owner saying that I didn’t let her know our arrival time and that check in was 14:00 and that this was stipulated in the booking. I have gone back through the booking and cannot find this anywhere, regardless of this, she still wasn’t there even if it was 14:00 check in. I should point out that prior to this we had been on a cruise in Alaska and had very poor wi Fi connection there too, so 0 chance of picking up any email.
If you’re going to rent a property, then be there to welcome your guests or get someone else to be there. The owner has taken the full payment for this property even though she has not fulfilled her end of the deal. Very sharp practice indeed! I have raised my complaint with Booking.com and have received $13.86 in refund from them for a property that I paid $139.86 for. The owner states that in the event of a “no show” the full amount will be retained. We were definitely not a no show! Infact we showed up 4 times in total. It was the owner who was a no show. Our stay at the Campbell Cottage was a treat from beginning to end. Anthea, our host, is a gem. From the first time we walked in the door and met her and her dogs, I immediately asked where the aloof cat was she had mentioned in her email to us, telling her no cat will last long being aloof with me. Within an hour I had Kitty Stella licking my hands and purring like there is no tomorrow. Anthea’s home is lovely, and the guest room and bath were so well appointed it felt so much like home. We had a lovely visit with her in her living room during the evening, with much jovial and fun conversation. As we were very tired from our trip, we retired early to our room, and slept the best we have in years. The next morning we were greeted with sweet good mornings from Anthea, and puppy dog barks, all seeming to enjoy seeing us in the new day. Anthea prepared an unbelievable breakfast spread for us, with beautiful serving plates and dishes and treats galore! When asked if we wanted eggs, my partner jumped at that. She offered many different ways she could prepare them and Don chose poached. As Anthea had just returned from the chicken coop with fresh eggs, she beautifully prepared the eggs, the best poached eggs Don had ever had. After sitting together at the table and enjoying more fun chats, we had to be on our way. Upon leaving, the puppies were barking and we were all hugging, knowing we had just spent a lovely time together. Thank you Althea! You love what you do and you do it well!

The breakfast was great, coffee was strong, really enjoyed the fresh eggs from the chicken's in the hosts garden. The little dogs were amusing, and the cat was hilarious.
Bit cold in the bathroom but realistically it's not that much of a huge deal as we don't sleep in there.
