Lobby is great, room is big, bed is wonderful.

The building is beautiful, the rooms were spacious.
The halls smelled heavily of disinfectant. We weren’t informed until it was too late to cancel and find another
Hotel without losing the full cost of our reservation that the pool was closed and beginning early am the fire alarms would be tested in all rooms. We rushed from our room early to get away from the
Blaring alarms.

The staff tried very hard to make it comfortable.
Booking.com
I really wanted to relax in a warm pool and spa. Neither were available as Booking.com advertised.

clean and great facilities

Quiet and clean best describes our experience. Valley River Inn is conveniently located with many amenities to eat, sleep and shop if you need to. Our beds were great, pillows not so great for our needs. Our room contained a refrigerator but no microwave. A Keurig offers a taste of local roasted coffee, however if you are a tea drinker, you will need to run water through the machine once for hot water. The place met all our needs and the price was perfect.
No microwave or flat pillows. We like a choice in the three pillows they place on the beds.

The room was beautiful and quite large. The staff was friendly, even messaged after check in to see how the room was and if I had questions or needs. The lobby smelled very pleasant and not over powering.
The hotel caught fire, alarms weren't able to be heard from my room, fire trucks pulling in alerted to the issue. Stopped an employee walking by outside and asked what was happening, was told they were asking guests to step out of their rooms.
Waited hours to go back in for belongings. Had to be escorted but was left with no instructions that the hotel was then closed and ask guests had to pack and leave. Until escort returned later. Feels almost as if they need to check and see if all guests made it out because my room was obviously NOT on their radar of emergency alerts and assistance.
Calling the front desk to see about what was going on, they didn't know, had to process many things. Said my refund would be taken care of later. Didn't get any other info. Local news that evening said the hotel had relocated guests to other hotels. I had to arrange my own relocation and accommodations. Waiting for response from hotel or Booking.com regarding a refund of my unstayed time and my incidentals deposit made upon check in.

Quiet, nice facilities, restaurants nearby, hiking trail nearby
There was a problem with the door lock mechanism in the room adjacent and it was very noisy as the guests couldn't get in and then the mechanism had to be changed. Need to let the adjacent guest know what is going on.

I loved the location
The lighting in the rooms could've been brighter, especially in the restroom area.

Rooms were clean and coffee was good in room.
For the price they didn’t even offer a continental breakfast. I found the front desk personal to be very to the point and not care about customer satisfaction. Hotel is a maze. If you don’t have directions to your room you will get lost.

The hotel restaurant is nice and the location is convenient, plus it's dog friendly.
Our experience began with the hotel clerk telling us we had no reservation. Eventually she figured out that our booking from Booking.com hadn't made it into their system, however her first instinct was to turn us away. After all this confusion, she never even offered an apology for the mixup. The room smelled musty which built to a kennel like odor the longer we stayed there. I suspect they don't get a carpet cleaner in often enough for their dog friendly rooms. Overall, the quality and cleanliness of the room was not on par with the price. I would have been disappointed had I booked this hotel for a romantic getaway or vacation as the experience is quite different from the pictures. The room was around $172 and then there was an additional fee of $10 for parking. I've never paid for parking for a hotel with its own lot which isn't in a busy downtown area and I'm not sure how they can justify charging for it here. Overall, the customer service was not professional and the price point doesn't align with the room quality.

I like the location on the river and in a neighborhood I know. The food at the restaurant is good. The servers were friendly and competent. The gentleman at the desk was a huge disappointment.
I asked the gentleman at the entry to the restaurant where the nearest restaurant was. He pointed out the large staircase and said I needed to go up it. I told him that wasn't going to happen with my knees. He abruptly said it would then be 20 minutes until the restroom next to the restaurant would be available (It was closed.) Then he left me standing there. I found a lady at the hotel check-in desk who told me there was an elevator just behind a wall that was simply across the room from the restaurant entrance. After I used the restroom, I sought out the rude "gentleman" who had been at the restaurant entrance to explain to him that it would have been helpful for him to have pointed out the elevator since at 77 my knees were not up to using the staircase. Oops, he said he never goes that way. He had no commitment to service. He did not appear to be truly sorry for his earlier behavior. I feel like I gave him a chance to redeem his careless behavior, but he seemed like he simply should not be working in a good hotel.

The river view
Every single time … and I mean every time … 4 to be exact … they have mischarged me and of course it wasn’t less it was MORE. This last stay the receptionist was terrible and rude … she was tall, big and red hair … I tried to tell her that I had already paid via affirm and she literally walked off and started talking to someone else. Now, I am charged $270 AND $370 for a one night stay because (shocker) they got it wrong again. The toilet made sounds off and on all night and the room smelled moldy.

The hotel was old and spider webs all over the decks. We booked a river view and we’re told that it wasn’t available when we checked in. They gave us a pool view and said it was the same price. We came back after dinner and the manager found a river view room for us so we moved. I overheard another guest being told the same thing when she was checking in. No river view rooms available even though she booked one. We move to the Gordon for Saturday night.

Location was nice on the river. Close to the airport was convenient. One amazing employee at breakfast ended our trip wonderfully. A waitress named Heather could not have been more joyful, kind and excellent at her job. She deserves a raise!
very unhelpful staff and terrible service in the restaurant. Just for bar service we were treated rudely.
we were very nice and asked where we could sit. A lot of eye rolling like we were a bother and it was very quiet.
The toilet ran all night in the shower did not get hot. for the price a water bottle in the room would have been nice.
only have the room cleaned once on the last day. Was not clear and we had to ask for it. we understand staffing is difficult these days and although I am stating many complaints, it is understandable
