Not much - The facility certainly was built to be a wonderful location by the overall appearance and parking was ample. The staff was pleasant and accommodating.
Pretty much everything else. My room smelled like smoke but not from tobacco. There was no food and the vending machines were all empty. The restaurant was lovely but they didn't serve food. There was a breakfast buffet and the food was edible at best and the coffee was just okay. The buffet didn't open until 7 am which felt rushed to make the opening session at 8 am. The rooms were dated but clean. The shower was 50% operational. The bar was centrally located but lacked certain bar-related ingredients. The hotel was limited to basic chips and drinks for purchase without any other sundries. I walked in and liked what I saw, but it all went downhill from there. If you are not used to having amenities when you travel - this will be an adequate stay for you.

Air conditioning not working in first room. Moved to other room. We had 2 fans going n ice in front of fan to try to sleep.
It was hot out but they had lots of complaints. Last night cooled off Little bit.
Menu not good for dinner choices.

The location was good. We were there to attend the NHRA drag races. It was close to restaurants and shopping
The AC wasn’t very cold. They loaned us a fan. The toilet ran constantly. We couldn’t make it stop. The hair dryer didn’t work.
The worst thing was, there was no housekeeping service. The sign in the bathroom said to leave the towels on the floor for replacement. No one ever came to replace them. Image our surprise when we got back in the evening to no clean towels. The front desk person said there was no housekeeping staff on duty. Wish we would’ve known that before we left the towels on the floor!

the bathroom was not as clean as it could be, the bathtub wouldn’t drain properly, the bed spread was a bit musty, no decaf or tea in room.

The location
The keycards didn’t work a lot of the time and had to be renewed a lot.

A roof over my head and out of the cold. Concierge was polite.
The bed was very firm and I woke up extremely sore. the curtains were worn and did not keep the morning light out. Upon check-in, our mini-fridge didn't work (they did swap out it out for me), and the décor seemed very dated. There were also no travel size soaps and other toiletries in the restroom. I also discovered the body wash was out the morning upon checkout. There were also rust stains in the tub, and the wall-paper/paint was peeling in the bathroom due to improper steam ventilation

location
We have now stayed at this hotel almost half a dozen times in the last 6 - 8 months when we are in Topeka for work. First time was great! same price as the Super 8! Comp coffee in the lobby, on site bar, upscale for the price. But each time we have stayed since, something drops in value. Two stays ago, they started imposing a $50 hold on your card at check in for incidentals. You have to wait almost 10 days for the charge to drop off and continually check your card that it does. The most recent stay kicked again. Rate at Booking.com was only $60, but then extra fees and taxes bring it up another almost $20. Granted, that is still a decent rate, but if you don’t watch it and get hit for the $50 incidental charge too, then it’s false advertising. Hotel is older and was very nice in its hey day, but I don’t like any business that tries to hide charges or fees that you get blind sided with. We obviously are looking for a good rate since we stay for business and really it’s just a bed and shower.

have stayed multiple times for work and it is becoming fussier and has lost amenities since initially started staying there. Charge an additional $50.00 incidental fee you have to make sure drops off in 10 days. kind of a hassle.

The location is excellent.
We stayed for two nights at the hotel. The man who checked us and out was pleasant. Just about everything else was disappointing. The water in the shower was hot, then cold, then hot, etc. The breakfast was disgusting and included a very ripe apple wrapped in cellophane, off brand juice in bottles, tasteless pre-wrapped muffins, and Twix yogurt which was pink. The coffee was mediocre and all were served near the desk. The dining facilities were closed. There were only 3 cars in the parking lot and we saw only 4 other hotel guests during our two day stay. The hotel seemed vacant with chairs upside down on tables, a dead plant on the empty shelves of the bar, and no staff walking around. The hotel seems as if it is “on its last legs”. Our room’s hall door did not close properly and wide streams of light would show around its edges at night. On checkout we were charged $20. more than our pre-booked Booking.com reservation. Staying here was quite sad as I remember when this was one of the premier hotels in Topeka.

Great place to stay and great staff, very helpful.
The only disappointing thing was the resteraunt was closed on the Friday night we stayed. (I think there was an event going on as well, which might of required staff to attend to the event process so that could of been the reason the resteraunt was closed).
