I very much enjoyed my stay at the Amargosa. Guests should know upfront, however, that this is a 100-year old historic facility and it looks it, inside and out. It's also in the middle of nowhere, about 1.5 hrs from Death Valley National Park. It will definitely be a "rustic" experience, but the wonderfully friendly staff will make it all worth it. Keep in mind that you're stepping back in time 100-years, manage your expectations and embrace the experience!

The hotel was a great location to visit Death Valley NationalPark. However the accommodations were ghastly. We stayed the two nights because we simply did not know where else to go. I will not stay at the hotel or recommend this hotel to anyone else. Some simple upgrades such as clean carpet, litter free entrance, appealing furniture in the common area, and better paint job.
Can't believe I stayed here. AAA compared this hotel to Motel 6. That is an insult to Motel 6.
Almost everything.

The bed and linens are very comfortable. The bathroom was cleaner than expected with lots of towls.
The A/C unit was noisy and went on and off every minute or two. We had to turn off in order to go to sleep.

that it was close to the Death Valley National park and the stuff was really nice we had the chance to get a tour in the house because of the history
I kind of had the feeling to sleep on a old farm and everything was decorated like this

The location is incredible!! This place has some magic to it! A wonderful story behind this opera house in the middle of the desert. Held by lovely people. We truly enjoyed the stay and would go back again. The only downside is that, money lacking probably, time has taken a tole on this place and it is a little decrepit. But worth a stay anyways!!

this property is so unique and conveniently located! I always meet the most interesting people and have the best experience.
Nothing. this was my second time back. it has a very unique vibe but I love it for its quirks

It looks like it should be condemned.

Loved the history of the opera house. Loved the tour. Emily greeted us and was exceptionally helpful !!
Always like a refrigerator in my room but there was one available in the main area of the hotel. Plenty of ice from the machine

Location is good and the hotel is quit charming (but needs some repairs)
Quit expensive. A fridge should be a plus. The hotel needs to be renovated.

it was interesting. I wish we would’ve checked in early enough for a tour.
We could hear everything the people in the next room were saying. They woke us up. The doors didn’t seem like they were very secure.

Great location, just outside Death Valley NP, and great value. The hotel is older and actually not updated, but it is still comfortable. The main asset, though, is the unique history and the "opera house". Quite unexpected and memorable!
WiFi was somewhat inconsistent.

It is in a fantastic location and the hotel is characterful and unique. It was a great one night stop before we visited Death Valley and beyond and make sure you get a tour of the Opera House. You will not regret it.
It is rustic and basic, but that is part of its charm. Live it and love it.

The classic style is great. It's cleary old, but that's the charm of the place.

clean, I like the old hacienda vibe. I loved the opera house and the tour we took with our hostess, such inspiring place especially for me as a woman and a creative. would highly recommend, for the history and the place.
hahah hard to wash soap away with the water they have, but I guess it’s understandable, it’s in the desert :-)

Closest property in proximity to Furnace Creek. Historical significance.
Smelled of urine and it was evident the property was impacted by the flash flooding three weeks prior. Arrived and decided to find an alternative upon seeing room. No refund given despite circumstances. Very disappointed.

It's an amazing and lovely place.... like a time machine...

The location is very convenient if you are planning to visit Death Valley National Park, but you should be aware there are not many options for food or groceries nearby.
It is a historical building, so it is a bit rustic; not a big deal, though.
The building is carpeted and there was a little musty smell at the entrance although the room was fine (not smell).

great staff, great room, great building
nothing

The unique atmosphere and history of the place - we really enjoyed the guided tour of the Opera building. There were wild horses behind the window every morning! Free coffee in the dining area. Short distance to the Death Valley. Newly renovated bathroom. Friendly staff.
Some staff seemed to be indifferent, and some very passionate about the place. The air conditioning could be a bit quieter.
