We have stayed here before. Location is the main reason.
We didn't have very good hot water. My wife tried to take an evening shower and the water was barely warm. I took one early Sunday morning and the water still wasn't very warm. Normally this is not an issue.

It is close to Mountain Health Arena. Jason (manager) was very nice. Allowed us to check out a day early without penalty. There is a Family Dollar across the street for any forgotten necessities.
In their defense, I did not complain to them. The hotel was sold out for the weekend so there would have been nothing they could do.
•The room smelled like mildew. We could smell it before we opened the door.
•The privacy shade did not close all the way. We had to use the hangers with clips to hold the shade panels shut.
•Breakfast was not good. The eggs tasted weird. Biscuit was hard. Out of gravy.
•The paint on the ceiling was peeling.
•The bed in 102 was terrible. Literally a divot in the center of the mattress that was about the size of a large trashcan lid. My husband and I kept rolling into it which prevented a good night's sleep. I was awake about every two hours or so.
•Indoor pool was ice cold.
•Noise from other guests was terrible. Fairly certain Bigfoot was our upstairs neighbor with the noise created by the footsteps.
•Unattended children in the pool that were misbehaved. They were banging the rescue float against the wall. My husband and daughter left the area due to bad behavior.
•Ultimately refunded but charged 5 times after checking out. Jason was very helpful and it was resolved within several days but still undue stress as it was several hundred dollars.
•Strangest parking lot entry. One has to make a very sharp turn to get into the parking lot. Made it interesting to get in/out with another vehicle coming in too.
•Key card did not work to let us back into the hotel using the door closest to our room. We had to enter thru the main lobby each time. Not really a big deal.
•The room appeared clean. But it just smelled bad. There was soap residue in the shower and a spiderweb on the light fixture.
Would not stay here again unless it was my very last option in the area.

The staff was very nice.
The room seemed to be a little worn and smelled stuffy. After turning on the air conditioner the stuffiness disappeared.

Easy to get to
Upon walking into the hotel you immediately smelled mold. Our original room was handicap accessible and wreaked of mold. Upon inspection the wooden furniture had mold all over it. I have severe alergies so there was no way we could stay there. The room was very dirty, stains everywhere an loose fixtures in the bathroom. Deciding to leave, told the front desk employee who didn't seem to care said those rooms have water problems and are like that alot. THOSE ARE HANDICAP ROOMS!! He put us in another room, not much better but no mold atleast. After driving 600 miles we were too tired to find another hotel. Upon check out the employee was on the phone and promptly tossed a basket out to put our key cards in. Very disappointed.

The staff was nice and the room was clean.
The room was very hot when we walked in. We had trouble getting the TV to work, so we had to get someone to help us.

The front desk greeter was excellent and very customer service oriented. That first impression meat a lot.
My key card didn't work on all the doors that it should have opened.

Everything... Prior nights we had stayed at another motel in Gallipolis, OH and it was definitely not a good experience. At this hotel, everything was what we would hope for.
