Not flexible in ordering, or not capable to do any variation
Very limited staff. Removed central television. Same mediocre wine served at wine hour. ( this is wine country)

too bad there was no tv

The staff at the inn were exceptional. Friendly and professional. The inn itself was just lovely
4.5
all was good. staff friendly and helpful
fact that the restaurant was closed and I was not made aware of it until the day before we arrived

Good breakfast, nicely served. Nice location.
2.0
The breakfast was good although a little variation of menu would be nice. One day I had to ask for silverware twice. Also, they had no creamer only milk which was odd.
The mattress was so old the topper on top did nothing to remedy the sunken mattress. The bathroom needs an upgrade. A coffee and hot water dispenser in the room would be nice. The shower items were not replenished once. The dining room is only open on Friday and Saturday only. I had made a special request to be on ground floor if possible. I was told this could be arranged. When I got there to check in I had to wait an hour as they had put me in an upstairs room which was too difficult for my husband to get up.

Rooms and location were great.
Bathrooms are outdated but shower still felt good. The pop up restuarant is a strange concept and the menu we had to choose from was not appealing after wine tasting.

the rooms need to be updated badly. Especially the bathrooms. There is considerable rust on the hardware, etc.The exterior is a work in progress and should really get done asap. Wish the restaurant was still open.

Options were limited, but well prepared; simple presented on the long table. It was not clear where to leave used plates, bowls, mugs, utensil.
The lighting in the bedroom (Gaviota) was garish; the bare light bulbs are stylish, but hard on the eyes when they are the only lighting. We fashioned lampshades from the brown paper wrappers from the drinking glasses and cloth napkins from the dining room (white would have worked better). Dinner menu was interesting, though the appetizer options and main course options were grouped together. Love the fireplace and candles on tables; overhead lighting seem a bit harsh.

The wine hour
People need to be aware that there are NO TVs anywhere here. The room was quite plain and overpriced.

told the construction would not happen on Sat. yet RIGHT outside our door at 7:00am a full crew was working

The accommodations were very nice. We enjoyed the happy hour and the breakfast. We were so fortunate because the did have a room available. Despite having a confirmation from Booking.com, The Ballard Inn did not show us as having a reservation. The quickly and cheerfully took our information and set us up with a room.
There was limited parking. When we returned from dinner Saturday night the parking lot was full.

The breakfast was quite delicious and the variety was perfect.
The coffee was hot and perfect

Common areas were cozy and beautiful, met friends for breakfast. The scones were delicious. Felt so homey as if we were in someone’s living room enjoying our coffee & breakfast. Another nice touch was having filtered water in our room at all times and cookies appeared on our bed in the evening!
No complaints

Great location in santa ynez wine growing area.
Close to Solvang but quiet and rural.
Ballard Inn is peaceful and restful and eating in the evening a joy.
A slight disappointment was the lack of variety at breakfast.
3.5
Loved the location, aesthetic, friendliness of staff and wine/cheese hour.
Not sure if it was our room location (at the top of the lobby stairs)but you can hear everything in the room that’s going on in the lobby/restaurant. I had to ask the restaurant staff to keep it down after waking me up the first night (they were hanging out in the restaurant after it closed). Now its night 2 and 9:30pm and we the music of the lobby is very audible in our room. This is the only complaint but was really hoping for a nice quiet hotel.

beautifully decorated and nicely refurbished. Nice welcome champagnes. Cosy and quiet, but walls are not sound proof.
no TV and location is away from restaurants. Restaurant on site was closed Monday and Tuesday.
1.5
It was stylish
Truly could not have been louder—inside the hotel—we could hear guests in their rooms as well as the thumping of the restaurant music, which is also hilarious bc the restaurant was closed for business!
Breakfast was not included despite the booking confirmation saying it was. The staff was incompetent, and the were zero amenities. For $400/night this place is a disaster.
