We loved the proximity to the Old Port. The service was exceptional. The newspaper vibe was well done and classy.
Honestly it makes you write what you didn’t like. It was tolerable but the pillows weren’t as supportive as I’d have liked.

breakfast was fine, although many other hotels in Portland offer a complimentary breakfast

Reception very helpful
Surprised at nickel and diming...expensive room but breakfast not included.
The restaurant was marketed as unusual and special. In reality, seriously overpriced for small portions, and the gravlax I ordered was terrible. Large peppercorns overpowered the dish and the room temp frissee was too salty. Should have been delicately flavored lucious salmon and lightly herbed vinegrette salad instead of simply salt and pepper...and way too much. I would never have served this.

Perfect location for walking around Portland; creative and cohesive theme; friendly and efficient staff. Would definitely visit again.

Location is prime for downtown Portland, and the thoughtful decorative touches were truly a sight to behold. The vintage typewriters, the lettered flooring, even the room number lighting. Just spectacular to take in knowing the space once held the Press Herald. Such a storied building!
The bathroom door wouldn’t close, almost if it was bolted to the hinge askew or something. Looking at the threshold, we could see the scrapes the door made over who knows how long. It definitely seemed like an ongoing issue. Maybe just a feature of the room? It was the only odd thing. Also, somewhat bothersome that it’s valet only. We’d left some things in the car after valeting, but didn’t want to put anyone through the hassle of retrieving the car just for a few random items.

Nicely located
Room was not ready at 4pm to checkin…..breakfast at the hotel was awful, staff not friendly.

Beautiful property in a great location within easy reach of the center of town. Staff were chatty and helpful, especially the doormen/valet guys! Good sized room with very comfy bed.
Website advertised coffee/tea facilities in room but there was none in ours.

Beautifully appointed, comfortable, attractive furnishings.
Staff was amazing!! Loved Sam…he went out of his way to take care of us. Great recommendations for restaurant.

We did eat at Union it was great! Customer service amazing, cleanliness amazing! Views and location fabulous!
Being ultimately picky because it’s an expensive stay for one night… I think the linens could be more comfortable and there wasn’t a fitted sheet. Also none of the usb plugs worked. For $500/night I think it would be great if those worked.

We loved the location, the Press was excellent. We have a Commercial Printing company and it was great fun seeing all the typewriters around and letters. Walking around the city to events was super. Brunch was excellent.
Not having a whirl pool tub or swimming pool.

we loved the decor and the staff.
a lot of fire engines and public safety calls in the sea, but that happens.

The rooms was great - spacious with a good bed, a fridge and a large walk-in shower. Staff were super friendly. The location was great for the purpose of my visit. I can highly recommend the hotel.
The only negative thing I can mention is that we arrived after ten o´clock in the evening and then it was impossible to get anything to eat, even at the bar.
