1. The sheets had red or orange stains on them both fitted and top sheets. One pillow also had some black treadmark stains on it. I did have the lady come and I helped her change the sheets.
2. The skirting on the bed was very unkempt and dragging sloppily on the floor. If there were any bugs on the floor it would be easy for them to crawl up onto the bed.
3. When I brushed my teeth the water tasted terrible just in my mouth and it seems like it's none potable water.
4. There was only one large plastic cup in the room with a plastic over it.
5. We paid $150 for the deluxe King room and it turned out to be a handicapped room. Grab bars and all.
6. There was no microwave, no mini refrigerator and no coffee pot in the room or cups.
7. The grout around the tub is full of fungus mildew as well as outside on the bottom dirty against the wall near the tub and the grout has lots of mildew in the shower tiles.
8. The breakfast quiche had lots of soggy raw egg on it. Not edible. Two other customers said it tasted bland and like it had lots of flour and wet.
9. Tried the coffee and orange juice but they were both very watered down.
10. Tried the waffles and they were okay.
11. The tablecloths in the little dining room were put on very slowly and very uneven every single tablecloth was very uneven and crooked. The four place maps on the big table were all shredded around the edges apparently need to be disposed of.
I do not recommend this motel.
I do have pictures of all this but I don't know how to download them.

This is a quirky, kind of bohemian place that is definitely NOT for the mobility-impaired. Excellent breakfast. Pool looked nice. Off-street gravel parking lot to right of hotel (opposite office).
There is parking behind the hotel with easy access to third-story rooms, but it’s up a STEEP drive. Rooms (and hotel itself) are charmingly decorated but a bit frayed around the edges. Communication difficulties with staff.

Great location and has wonderful charm. Absolutely love the pool and the beds were incredibly comfortable.
Growing up in this town and spending time at this property years ago, it seems really run down. The shower head was broken in our room, and whoever stayed in my room prior (or maybe housekeeping?) has thrown out soap, shampoo and conditioner bottles and trash out of the bathroom window onto the roof. We opted to go out for breakfast after seeing things float around in the water container and the buffet was extremely bare. We loved the pool, but really hated that staff sits out there every morning smoking and leaving their cigarette butts in the planter (which really stinks)!!! I fixed the shower head- and was hoping to explain this to staff, but when I went to check out- there was no one at the front desk. I waited for a moment, but left once I heard some people arguing. I know the history behind this place- so it was sad to see what it’s become. Loved the pool- but it needs an enormous upgrade and cleaning.

My husband and I are homeless and we have chosen to stay at the Gunn House twice. First time was nice but this last time was not satisfying. The bathroom shower floor was covered in hair and felt really gross on my feet bad water quality.
The people that run this place are very rude

The historical aspect of this property is amazing, it's delightfully accurate in decor both inside and out. I have stayed there several times and it's always good.
The downtown location is great for walking down and enjoying the main street. The parking is safe and clean.

The ambiance and decor was great
The air conditioner did not get very cold but still worked.

The pool was a relief in the hot weather. The staff responded promptly to fix things that weren't working.
The quaint eclectically decor of this historic hotel desperately needed cleaning. The breakfast offering was incomplete with some cereal jars empty but worst of all cooked egg dish was left out in the poorly air conditioned - over warm kitchen room for 2 and a half hours. The outdoor tables weren't cleaned and furniture around the pool was broken and dirty.

Location is very good. Short walk to restaurants. Building looks very nice and it’s historical.
Everything in the property needs upgrading. Looks like the latest owners have not done any maintenance or repairs to the building. Old is good, but hey, every old building needs some work. Starting from the chairs outdoor to the nasty old carpets in the room. I felt that sheet were not washed, not sure, but overall feel was stuffy and not the standard in todays customers. It is probably renovated in 80’s and never after that. Some health hazards here and there too. Breakfast also need some work, coffee was like brown water. Owners should stay one night as a guest to feel the place. It could be a really lovely hotel in the city center, but needs work. I feel bad to say all this, but it was so disappointing experience for someone who needs a short pleasant break.

Excellent location walking distance to everything !
Nothing. It is an older hotel in an old gold mining town. Cool place to stay with a lot of history. Yet it is updated and very nice. Great pool and breakfast!

Very cute rooms, very cute hotel.

This place is unique, On of the coolest places we have ever stayed. Bed was comfortable, food was good, Front desk clerk very attentive as well as gentleman overseeing breakfast. Very clean!
From a former property manager:
Bathroom sink slow to drain
Mattress and be skirt was slip and slide
Door needs weather stripping, you can see daylight all around frame
3.3
Proximity to our event. Pool access was great!
The electrical outlets in the room were all worn out and didn't accept any plugs unless the prongs were bent outward. The room was left with the last tenant's underwear on the floor and the toilet didn't flush until it was plunged. I wasn't here to watch TV, but the TVs should be updated.

The free breakfast spread is awesome, the staff is friendly and professional. Definitely would go back 🙂
3.3
Lots of character and very homey.

Very nice breakfast provided by the hotel
Hotel located on the main street in Sonora.
Shops and restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel
Manager of the hotel was friendly and helpful
Low water pressure in the bathroom. Water flowed at a trickle from the tap in the bathroom. One of the tradeoffs of staying at an historic hotel is sometimes water pressure is low due to the age of the plumbing
Access to rooms on the second floor may be challenging for persons who have limited mobility or who have difficulty climbing stairs.

Easy to find. Person at front desk was nice.
Room looked like I was back in the 20's. Blinds didn't work. Took forever for the hot water and if you touched the cold water to try and cool it down once you got hot water you loose hot water completely. It was like 30 degrees outside when I went and with the gap under the door and the heater not working well room didn't warm up. Tv was from the 80's and the remote didn't work half the time. There is only 1 plug in the room to charge a phone or something unless you unplug the light or charge your phone in the bathroom.
3.3
It was great for sleeping and a home base. There was an air conditioner and a gas heater.
There are no microwaves or refrigerators in the room, a non working fireplace, the closet space is in the bathroom, and there is one chair with ottoman in the room.
There was no restaurant or continental breakfast provided. Finding the ice machine was a challenge.
3.3
Breakfast was expired, leftovers
Breakfast was terrible, leftover omelets with wick hard edges, cold, cakes were rock hard and stale, orange juice was watered down, trash was not emptied in various exterior trash bins, many hazards with run down dilapidated wood and steps, shower didn’t drain, shower output was only half pressure, noisy and leaky faucets, leaks in roof/mold on ceiling, uneven floors/noisy, invasive and creepy questions from front desk, had to argue with staff to get rooms close together, told us when to wake up, was never seen at front desk and we had to call twice to have him come to the front from his office where you could hear a very loud television playing, would not get off his phone call (left it on speaker while he checked us in).
3.3
close to town center
sheets were stained and fitted sheet put on bed sideways. little stuffed animal toys were filthy. no heat in toilet room. guests smoking cigars and cigarettes while listening to music just outside our room.
breakfast was sub par. Ran out of coffee and nobody there to get/make more.
A lady, presumably staff, entered our room while we were inside without even knocking or announcing herself. She immediately left without saying a word when she saw us in the room.

Gunn house is a historic property with lots of charm, charm that needs to be refurbished. Gary was very helpful and deserves compliments.
Room was like an ice box and I could not get heater to work. Shower did not look at all clean. Water came out of the tap brown in color, not very appealing! Looked forward to their renowned breakfast, but guess what, the breakfast room was locked!
3.3
Very cute. A very old building but nice how it has been kept in the original state. Within walking distance to town. Good breakfast. Good price.
Could use some updating in the rooms without changing the uniqueness of the building.
3.3
No complementary breakfast as advertised. Wifi was crazy. Didn't work all the time . And had to call them evertime. For someone to come to front desk. The room was fine and quiet. But I won't be staying there again.

We arrived in San Francisco before our cruise. When the cruise ended we are now touring California and then doing Route 66. I’ve finished with independent hotels. All 3 we have stayed in including this one were very disappointing. If we had seen the rooms before booking we would never have stayed.
Everything had to wait 40 minutes to check in. The bathroom I’m sure hadn’t been cleaned. Unsure about the bedding. There was a terrible smell. The dust on the blinds set off my husbands allergies.

super old cute, location was perfect and parking on site
