Very nice property

Below average at best….
Booked this house on short notice for the family for a week in July ‘24. Property is VERY dated and for sale which may explain why the owners haven’t updated/renovated this property. Location is good with easy bay and beach access.
But, definitely needs a deep cleaning inside , new bedding/beds, and a complete cleaning below the house (no concrete pad, cigarette butts everywhere, pieces of glass).
I’d definitely pass on this one unless it’s one of your only options on the island.

We especially like this house because it has a bayside beach area which is an advantage if you happen to come on a week when the Gulf side is inundated with seaweed. The first time we stayed there was problems with deck lighting and plumbing (I repaired the plumbing myself at that time) The lighting we were told had been given a work order for repair, but we never saw anyone.
This is the second time we stayed and there was a new refrigerator (an improvement), less kitchen utensils, our shell in table was gone :{ , and the light problem was still present years later :{. We requested help, got notice that a work order had been turned in, same result, saw no one, no repair accomplished. Mosquitos were awful compared to our first time which was on April 1st week that year, this year we were there in Mid May, weather much better, it was a very cold, windy, rainy week when we were there the first time. Pillow cases or pillows actually smelled like an armpit and house is for sale at this time. (it was a newly aquired property the 1st time we stayed here) .
With all that negativity, we would still recommend this house, it is very nice, maybe bring your own pillows and a good camp light to light the deck enough to see if you want to use the new grill they had available. We have stayed in Fort Morgan area and Dauphin Island many years and still think this is one of the better locations. One more comment, there is only one street in/out and it floods, pray for no rain. (Corvette owner)

The home was clean and nice. However, it needs some TLC: paint, mold repair around vents, a clean furnace filter.
Also, the fully stocked kitchen had no tea spoons, the toaster only half worked. The back door has a huge gap in it- It did blow open very easily with strong wind. The master bathroom door is too low and scrapping the floor and the washer is a little tricky to use ( youtube helped us get it working) ( push start twice) . Also in the upstairs bedroom the overly to the mattress is too big. Suggest getting a new bed in a box for safety. I almost fell off the bed a few times because the overly hangs over. We found trash left behind by the cleaning crew or previous renters. Several of the outdoor chairs were broken and not useable, luckily we brought our own camping chairs. However these were truly minor things, mainly reporting them so they may be addressed. April, was very responsive when we reported issue with the washer, and the trash. She was immediately responsive professional, courteous. Either cleaning staff or previous renter had removed parts of the Roku systems and batteries and April immediately addressed the issue. The appliances worked. The location was perfect, on the quiet sound and close to the beach. Dauphin Island was a friendly, peaceful place to be. Could use more dining options for families such a sit down breakfast place and casual affordable dining that is not fast food. The Bird Sanctuary was wonderful as was Ft Gains and the Estuarium.

This property was highly enjoyed by my family. Beach access is 10 min lazy walk... We were on the beach or the bay daily. Peaceful quiet beaches, without added stress of making sure your children are in not lost in a crowd. We love the island and the sunsets are breathtaking! This property was very comfortable for my family of 7. My daughter loved the upstairs room and spiral staircase! Property provided everything our family needed to prepare meals... We had a great vacation. Only hiccup was an issue with AC, and management took care of it quickly! Very satisfied with this experience!

The location was nice and quiet. The house was very nice the only issue was there was an infestation of ants. They were in the kitchen coming in through the windows in bedrooms and living room. Really wish the house would have had a dock in the back and a water hose in the back to spray off with. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Dauphin Island.

We enjoyed our stay very much. This house is right on the bay and only a block or so from the beach. Neighborhood is quiet and pet friendly.
Things needed:
Porch lights were out and the light box under the front deck is rusted/broken/exposed
Sink light and over the stove light out
Toaster only works on one side
Pleasant trip

we loved our home it was comfy... when we arrived the door was wide open tht is really the only issue...I think it was not closed all the way and wind got it! scared us a bit... other than tht it was a comfy stay.place was clean.does need new pans to cook in.sound beach was cool we watched dolphins every day and caught a sting ray.half our group was bored so they traveled to busier places I was fine with it being laid back.crab hunting at night was super fun!! plenty shells to be found as well as hermit crabs ..went to sea lab it was fun to pet shark and sting rays on ur time...beautiful island forsure..ty to all....

Memories with the Grandgirls
First visit to Dauphin Island. Loved the location on the Bay and close proximity to the Gulf. The property was spacious and as described in the listing. There were plenty of linens and kitchen items were okay. We brought specialty kitchen items from home, like the Keurig, knives, pizza cutter, etc. The only negative for the property was the kitchen faucet which showered you every time it was turned on. There were also issues with the appliances--the dishwasher is not bolted in and you have to be very careful when opening the door. The freezer takes all your body weight to close. And, the dryer door continually pops open and makes drying a load of clothes a very long process. We adapted to these issues, but they are such avoidable issues for the property owner as they could be repaired easily. Loved that we could bring our dog to this property. He loved the Bay and chasing ghost crabs. Fun times. Hope to be back soon.

Loved the island and the people, but shocked at the condition of the accommodations..
We were very excited to visit Dauphin Island. We left early and are very disappointed with the beach house rental. The towels smelled like mildew, the stove oven had what looked like burn marks on the outside and there was a dark stain seeping out from underneath the stove onto the kitchen floor. The refrigerator freezer drawer was broken and very difficult to open and close. The ice maker did not work for us. We bought bags of ice. The dishwasher door was broken and fell to the floor when opened. The bottom plate of the dishwasher fell off every time the door was opened. The toaster was broken. The microwave had grease caked on the outside. There was what appeared to be a leak under the kitchen sink because everything was wet and smelled bad under the sink. We had to scrub the kitchen, including the kitchen garbage can which had old rotten food caked on the inside. There are several broken or cracked floor tiles. The outside grill was dirty. We did not use that, so we cannot attest if it works or not. The Master bedroom bed was like sleeping on a cot and very noisy. The window blinds in the bedrooms and bathrooms were about 4" too short, which is a problem for privacy. There is a large crack in one of the bedroom windows, which looks old and rusty. We ended up sleeping separately on the twin beds. We were willing to overlook all of these items even though we paid a large sum of money for one week to stay here. I feel at that price we deserve for things to be in good condition. However, Saturday we had new neighbors move in. They liked to listen to very loud music and talk/yell very loud and party late into the night. They actually had the police called on them Saturday night. It was all too much, and everything together took away from what we came here to experience. We emailed the rental company Sunday night letting them know we were leaving Monday morning. We did not hear back from them. My husband called them Wednesday, the day we were actually supposed to check out and spoke to one of the employees. She was very polite and asked my husband to email a complete list of everything that is wrong with the property. She assured us they would respond to our second email. They did reply with a partial credit. I'm not sure how they calculated the amount because there was no explanation with the email. I hope they will correct these items for the next family renting this property. This is unacceptable and very upsetting.

Beautiful property, beautiful location
Tropical Paradise is located on the west end of Dauphin Island on the sound side, but you can see the Gulf from the house, and it's an easy walk. The property is wonderful, and we had a great time. My only complaint is about the mattresses/box springs in the loft and the master bedroom -- they are beyond ancient and simply need to be replaced.
Otherwise, it was a clean, delightful property with a great location, and we had a great stay. We didn't want to leave.

The house worked good for us. We had a waterline break, but a quick call and the repair crew was dispatched.

Stay at dauphin Island
We had a great experience for our first trip to dauphin island. It rained quite a bit but thats because of hurricanes coming in. The only problem with the house was not enough rags. We had to wash them after ever use finally we just went bought some. We will be back!

Great family vacation
We were able to spend a week at the beach with our family staying safe from Covid. We were surprised that one bedroom that showed 2 twin beds had 2 sets of bunk beds. The property manager checked on us the 2nd day and took care of some maintenance issues quickly. We were just a short walk to the beach and had a wonderful trip.

Much needed family get away
This was a great house for our family. Great location. The bay was awesome for slow paced hanging out and walking out to fish. Not much beach is available, but enough to accommodate chairs and what is needed for the day. Short walk to the ocean side. Parking passes are available to drive over too. The ocean side beach was perfect. I wish the house would have been ocean side. The house was not clean when we arrived. After speaking with the manager and letting him know that his cleaning people were not doing what they should, all was well. He was lovely to work with. The kitchen could use some updating on pots and pans. The icemaker could not keep up so bring extra bags of ice or trays with you. I think we left some in the cabinets. Would recommend a longer hose and a nozzle to replace the one under house and on the front porch. The deck on the back is partially covered and was lovely to have. Bring chairs for beach and deck. We did not use the grills because they looked a bit too warn out and not too clean. I assume that being in the elements puts a toll on them. Beds were ok, couches need to be updated but served their purpose. We spent very little time inside. If you are not familiar with the island, I would also suggest that you check with the management quite often close to your trip to check on the weather. Flooding streets tend to be an issue. Due to the location, this house was not effected when many others more west were. Overall, I would certainly recommend this house.

Great location, comfortable house
The location of this house is our fave - on the Bay but easy walk to the Gulf beach. 4 comfortable bedrooms (the teen girls loved the loft bedroom and bath, even though they could hear everything in the house and we woke them up earlier than they'd like making coffee each morning). Beds were fine and there were plenty of good bath towels, but the kitchen was missing a lot of essentials (can opener, mixing bowl, vegetable peeler, wooden spoons, ice tray, pie pan, frying pan) which we purchased and left behind (so the next folks should be in good shape!) There is also fairly minimal seating on the deck (we used the beach chairs we brought with us) and only enough seating in the living room for 4 (again, we dragged in beach chairs) but other than that we give it a thumbs up.

Nice location, minimal ammenities
Nice place to stay with easy access to sound side and beach but not as homey as some VRBO places I've stayed with lack of books/games/beach gear and kitchen gear needs to be restocked.

The place was just what we were looking for. This is a great time of year to visit, especially with our dogs.Wish this property would have had ESPN, it's not ideal watching the collage football playoffs on your phone, but other than that we enjoyed our visit.

Wonderful
We had a great time at our stay. Location was awesome. The grounds needs to be taken care of, (mow and trim grass) front of the house needs outdoor lights there is exposed wires where the fixture was. Could have had a few more kitchen supplies but it was manageable. But having the bay right behind the house was awesome. I would stay again.

I don't give 5 Star Reviews
We enjoyed our stay at Tropical Paradise, the house was clean, beds were comfortable, ample kitchen utensils available, HUGE washer/dryer, outside furniture was lacking except for nice picnic table and benches. Everything was very nice for us except the temperatures decided to be in the 40s and winds at steady 25 mile/hour pace. We will return, possibly August. We usually stay in Fort Morgan, this was a pleasant change to not worry about the ferry or drive through Mobile for another hour. It was a comfortable 2.5 hours from Mandeville, Louisiana.

Great place for the family
We enjoyed our stay. Rented the house for a week and everyone enjoyed it. It rained a couple of days and was really too cold to get in the water, but we were at the beach!! Great quiet neighborhood. Kids were able to ride their bikes every where and no worries.
Thanks and we look forward to visiting again!! Also the rental agents were so awesome to deal with!
