The garden is so beautiful and Lila is very nice and helpful. She was willing to help us with our laundry, even after we checked out.

Friendly folks and loads of info provided, nice outdoor areas and a pretty good bed.
Beware that rooms differ enormously, I changed after one night in a (because of the neighbours) very noisy room to one with a completely different layout, bathroom size and quality of both the WiFi and TV signal. It's basic but fairly priced.
Warm water in the shower takes ages to heat and WiFi in some rooms is mediocre at best.

If you want to meet really nice people who will help you to enjoy you stay at vicuña this is the place you need! The patio is really nice and cosy
It was perfect, but a friend stayed in another hostal for the same price where there was breakfast included

Wow! What a lovely hostel. The garden is simply stunning. Beautiful plants, interesting cactus. Figs, pomegranates, grapes growing right there. The owner is incredibly sweet and kind. She gave me fresh figs on check in. There is also a star-gazing platform with beds to lie on. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Right in the centre of town, two blocks from the central square.

Really beautiful hostel with a large yard with fruit trees and you can eat grapes, dates and figs from the trees. A beautiful and well-kept place with a lot of vegetation, very pleasant to be there. Manolo the owner is really nice and helps with everything. Good location close to the main square and the terminal
At night, the lighting on the paths turns on according to movement and turns off in a few seconds, and it is very dark. It's quite annoying.

Great location. Comfortable beds. Welcoming staff

Great location in Vicuna, it is very close to main square of the town, especially if you need to arrange your stargazing tour for Del Pangue or Mammaluca observatories, nevertheless I would suggest for the former. Room was quiet basic but functional for our needs.
Well, no breakfast in the morning, and I discovered that the price was slightly lower on their tariff table in their reception rather than I paid on Booking.com, moreover, they do not accept cards but you must pay only cash. Entire thing was fairly dodgy to be honest.

No hot water by tap to wash up. No plug or bowl to wash up. Hence all utensils greasy and dirty. Needs some TLC

HostL Michel is located in a good position , close to several restaurants and pubs.

It would be a nice, affordable spot in the spring and summer months. The rooftops are a good option and the rooms are cheap.
They do not have heat, so we were freezing at night. They have parking, but you will be required to move your car all the time when they come and knock on your door. Furthermore, you must constantly ask permission for them to open and close the gates to enter and leave with your car. So while this is a convenience, there are many inconvenient aspects to parking on-site that make it quite frustrating.

the location, hospitality, rooms, cleanliness and facilities were all amazing! and all the outdoor areas are lovely. the staff were exceptional. one of our group was really unwell during our stay and they helped us get medical help and extend our stay with no fuss - they genuinely care about their guests and gave great advice about visiting Vicuña. thank you hostal Michel!!

The roof with swinging chair and a rock bed; The little chairs and table just outside the Draco Room is awesome;
There was a community Asado at the center yard one night and it was kinda noisy but that's ok, its a hostal

Really great hostel! Great room size with really good beds.
There is a beautiful backyard and two areas where you can just sit and enjoy the stars.
Also Lila the host there was one of the sweetest ladies I ever met!
Would definitely recommend this place to stay in Vicuña

The garden is really nice, you can spend there a lot of time to relax
- Hostel offers "free food" places in the kitchen and fridge to avoid wasting food
- The location is very good
Urinal at the toilet was broken
- No english speaking staff
- Only cash
- As a foreigner you normally don't need to pay tax for the accomodation in Chile, if you pay with a foreign currency. In this Hostel the owner said that it is not possible
- WIFI isn't working that good
- Price is very high compared to other hostels in South America and also in Chile (to be fair, all hostels in Valle de Elqui are overpriced)
