Really nice pool and outdoor spaces. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The shared bathrooms were clean enough. It’s a good location to the ruins and jungle.
4.3
The cleanliness of the room. Staff is nice, they send a message due to noise making activity because a tree fell down during a storm. Used the common kitchen a lot!
Bit far from a supermarket. But near the park, so its fine!
4.3
We really enjoyed staying here, so close to the ruins and surrounded by nature. The fan was good in the heat and humidity!
The food and service at the restaurant is disappointing
4.3
Location is wonderful, walking distance from the ruins. There's a small botanic garden at the back, and you can wander around freely, so experience the jungle nicely. The pool is nice, and the broader garden area is beautiful. There's a few hammocks you can relax in which are great.
The staff were at best indifferent. They charge you for everything, and it's not cheap. Such as bag storage, extra towels, etc. The pool is nice, but not big enough for the number of guests there. Likewise the restaurant serves tasty European food, but nothing local and doesn't have enough seating for half of the guests. There's holes in the bug protectors and gaps in the building, so don't hold hopes of keeping bugs out. Not friendly to smokers, you have to walk down to the edge of the jungle where there's no bins, seems counterproductive.

Me and my friend had extreme food poisoning after eating a vegetarian burger at the restaurant, we received no help from the staff despite not even being able to get up to get water, no one would even help us get the medicine we needed. Sounds a bit dramatic but we felt a bit unsafe
4.3
If you arrive early you have access to lockers to store you’re stuff. There is a really cool atmosphere! It felt like a jungle resort, seeing some animals walking around.
There wasn’t any soap in the dispensers. Neither in the shower in our cabana, nor the common showers. They also didn’t clean our room during our stay.
4.3
Lovely location within walking distance to the ruins, lovely pool and nice onsite restaurant. Also had a shared kitchen so you could cook your own food if you wanted.
The fan in the room was a little weak but we managed to sleep ok regardless!
4.3
The facilities are great, it's clean and nice little stay in the jungle. We only stayed one night but we enjoyed the pool, shared kitchen it's small and could use more utensils seeing that a lot of us prefer to cook there but you can manage also restaurant prices are fair and not overpriced
Keep in mind it's 40*C with 80% humidity and a room without AC makes it really hard to sleep comfortably or to sleep at all. So if you can get the room with AC

Great location out of the main town of Palenque and just outside the entrance to the Palenque ruins. Jungle on the doorstep, and heard howler monkeys daily here (although didnt see them), saw a few nice bird species. There was good food at the restaurant and the staff were friendly and efficient. Also a communal kitchen available for s/c option. Lockers available for luggage storage if needed, but we were allowed early check in here at no extra cost.
Rooms had fans, but given heat and humidity air-conditioning would have been a bonus.

I had such a lovely time at Cabanas Kin Balam. I arrived after a long day of travel / waterfalls / archaeological site and it was a piece of heaven. Reading the reviews I get that its perhaps a little "pricey" for a hostel, but when else do you get the opportunity to chill by a beautiful pool in a stunning jungle setting, listening to monkey and bird noises all while drinking pina coladas.
Honestly, if you are staying in town just to save $10.. huge mistake in my opinion
The dorms are a little small but Was ok for 1 night. I really loved my stay. The team was lovely too, bringing me food and drinks to the pool
Dorms on small side and hot

Location is perfect, as it is very close to the ruins of Palenque. It has a pool, hamacs and a spa where you can book an excellent massage. The bed was comfortable. Wifi worked well in most places. The staff was very nice.
The room was very warm even with a fan. Not sure there is much more to do about it other than adding A/C. The restaurant was very simple. Breakfast wasn't amazing. We chose to eat other meals at Don Mucho's, in front.
4.3
The grounds were swept completely in the morning, simple meals available, the pool, cabanas, and hammocks were excellent
4.3
The property has so many different options - little cabanas/shacks near the pool, nice shared rooms (not dorm style - larger rooms with two or three beds), rooms with private baths. It's also cool being in the jungle - the howler monkeys were crazy at night! I really just liked the vibe and setting.
I loved the little cabana we had by the pool but it really could be a lot nicer for very little investment -- use some colorful fabric for the curtains all around (instead of the yukky, drab brown ones), and put hooks on the walls to hang up towels and other items. The restaurant was only ok - they were nice but the food was limited and fairly mediocre for the price. Also, the staff allowed one family to kind of take over the pool - they brought in a huge speaker (concert size!) and blasted their own music, and pretty much occupied the space. They were all nice enough but it was a bit obnoxious. This was in contrast to the very nice, quiet, post-Palenque hanging out at the pool the night before so I was a little spoiled.
4.3
Beautiful setting. Noise of the animals at night makes it magical. Relaxing atmosphere. Nice to relax and rooms confortable. Hammock and swimming pool are ideal if you want to stop and relax from all the traveling. Food (for vegetarian) and drinks at the restaurant are good. Very close to the ruins.
No supermarket, bars, or restaurant around it.
Restaurants charges you tips without asking (they are happy to remove it as soon as you tell them).
Some strange rules but nothing too absurd.
Kitchen is very small, 2 stalls only and over used pans and forks (if you find one).
Description said 'no children' but it is not the case.
4.3
The location is stunning and it has real potential but there are a few major issues that we struggled to look past (see below).
other good things:
- hammock area is great
- generally very clean
- the towels and bed linen were really nice
- the place is very pretty and nicely designed
- close to the ruins
- Biggest issue is the smell, there is a smell like stagnant water/sewage that comes and goes and is really revolting. I think it might be the lake/stream as it was really strong while we were in the restaurant and made our dinner quite unpleasant, it also wafted into the room on and off overnight, and came out of the drain when I showered.
- the pool is disgustingly cloudy. they also spent all morning with cleaning chemicals in it one day so we couldn’t use the pool, but even after this the water was still basically opaque
- the restaurant is overpriced and the food was not particularly good. the restaurant bathroom is also the bathroom for one of the shared rooms so while we were eating we could see people brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed
- we were in a really weird room with three double beds crammed into it, luckily the other beds were empty but had the room been full it would have been super crowded and there was nowhere to put your stuff. only one safe for the entire room so basically pointless if there are other people there too.
- they have signs everywhere threatening to fine you if you break the rules which slightly ruins the chill vibe they are trying to project
- they charge you if you want to stay on site/store your bags after check out (I’ve never stayed anywhere that does this before)
- washing machine out of order (when it is working they charge you a laundry fee but still make you do the laundry yourself)
4.3
Room was basic but clean. Shared showers and toilets were clean.
Friendly staff.
Nice location near the ruïns and jungle.
Pool was not cleaned well in the morning making it not nice to swim.
Dinner at the restaurant was bad. No local options, dry burgers and horrible pasta.
4.3
Location is amazing. The whole area is really pretty.
They have many extra charges. You want one more piece of bread with your breakfast, you have to pay for 4 as that's the minimum. You want to do the laundry (by yourself in the washing machine), you have to have at least 4 kilos or pay 200 pesos for any less amount...
Also there was no wifi signal in bungalow 1.
4.3
You can see the howler monkeys
Outside of town, need taxi for ATM etc
4.3
I liked the jungle around. Nice place to chill.
I missed a chair or something in the room that you can put your stuff on it.
4.3
- jungle location with with sounds of monkeys and birds through the night.
- great facilities - eg washing machine on site, sinks and clothes lines for hand washing, communal kitchen, cafe/restaurant open from 7, always hot water in shared showers, etc.
- comfortable cabin - i had one with wooden walls all around but there are also some with just mosquito netting as walls which maybe noisier.
- lovely helpful staff
- almost too well organised and ordered; kinda felt like a family camp with not much interesting design to it. it’d be great for families and groups though
- price a bit high
- pool area was noisy in the afternoons and it’s more for dipping in than swimming
4.3
I like that it was in the jungle and close to archeological sites
Loud monkey screams
4.3
middle of the jungle,
charge you for water, small kitchen.
4.3
jungle sounds. great location, close to ruins and out of town. easy collectivo right out front. helpful staff to book tours and spa treatments. great wifi and pool.
the restaurant is overpriced, not that tasty and gave us food poisoning. there are ridiculous rules that only allow you to eat your own food in the kitchen, which is tiny and not well set up - I’d guess this is to drive more business to the restaurant, as there’s plenty of tables and hammocks on the grounds. our DIY laundry cost 126 pesos, and we weren’t allowed to wash our 3kg of laundry - we had to put our clean clothes in to reach the minimum of 4KG (of which they supervise you doing this & don’t let you change any settings). security knocked on our room at 9:30pm asking us to remove some clothes we’d left to dry on our own travel line outside our private cabana (no room on main shared lines, rain other days) because it was ‘disrespectful’.
4.3
The place was really nice and the staff was really helpful.
Thé kitchen is really small and not very functional. You are forced to eat in the kitchen with no table, few dishes so basically you have to wait for hours at rush time because a lot of people are cooking in this very Lille kitchen of 10 square meters.
But what I dislike the most is the fact that I had to pay an additional fee of 90 pesos to stay at the hostel the day of my check out after 12 am. It’s my first time in my whole life à guest has to pay for a day pass to use the services of the hotel although he spent nights there.
4.3
Very nice place. Beautiful garden, good hammocks to chill in. Deck to do yoga on in the morning.
It was a bit odd that you could book a double bed with two people in a room with other double beds. Luckily we were the only ones in the room sharing the bed, otherwise it kind of would have had a bit of a swinger club feeling... and the room actually was connected to another room with three beds. So overall a lil strange set up. Yet, okay for one night.
4.3
close (walking distance,) to the site
loud music at the pool, smoking and vaping at the hammocks.
4.3
everything was so very , very wonderful. Staff- Food- lodgings- the location and the ambiance were top notch.
no complaints at all
4.3
It was a really nice place, even though the rooms are small the place itself is nice.
DON'T BOOK YOUR SHUTTLE SERVICE HERE!! They put me on a shuttle service to Guatemala who didn't stop at the Migration, so I came into Guatemala without a stamp and had to pay 90USD when leaving the country.
The hotel/hostel didn't do anything about it when I made a complaint and wanted my money back. I didn't feel heard and they stopped responding.
4.3
hotel ideally placed, next to the ruins and close to the bus station
the restaurant !! Unpleasant personnel …
4.3
spacious and clean site, hot water for shower, location excellent !
