Nice house, convenient, clean. Missing a few items like an outdoor table and chairs for 10 people. We were a group of friends and could not sit outside as there was no table nor chairs for 10 people although the house is supposed to be for a group of that size. Beds are great, clean rooms but one bedroom has 0 privacy as others need to pass through to get to their room or go to the bathroom. OK for a long weekend but not ideal for longer stay. House itself is large, different areas to sit so really great for a break.

The house was ideal in terms of spaces for all the family - from chill-out corners to a comfortable sitting area and large dining-room with pool table. Peter was ever helpful and the his friends' artwork added in the house added to the ambience.

Property was ideal for a large family group, with plenty of room for children to play inside and out particularly as the weather was bad on one day. Lots of interesting rooms and spots to explore

It was a great stay; The house itself needs a bit of changes and there no shops at all in the village itself.

The house is very large and comfortable.
It has a great permanent bbq, which we used most days.
Indoor pool table and outdoor table tennis kept the teenagers occupied.
More than adequate crockery, glasses etc.
Location is semi rural and great for beaches and shops.
We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Peter, the owner, lives next door and was welcoming and helpful regarding any local information.

An attractive well equipped property with lots of living space to relax and entertain. Peter was very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. The table tennis and pool table were very much welcomed by younger members of our party. Everything was clean and tidy. Lots of beds and sleeping options. Electrics and lighting took a little getting used to and outdoor area and furniture looked a little tired (but it was in the middle of a drought). Overall had a great time.

We stayed here two years ago so knew the property was ideal for a mixed generation family holiday. As before, everybody in the group had a good time. A trip to the Somme Bay Railway was a new venture this time - highly recommended.

Perfect family holiday!
This house is perfect for a family holiday. There were 11 of us staying in this beautiful gite converted from a barn. Plenty of room inside to sit all together or find a quiet place to sit and read. The facilities are excellent, the kitchen well fitted, the dining room and sitting room are huge for all to enjoy. Plenty of shower rooms and loo's and good family bathroom. The TV pit is a great idea allowing the children to watch a movie while the adults can chill out. The bedrooms are comfortable and are many. I have never seen so many books in a holiday house and the lovely antiques that are dotted all over the house, from clocks, toys (not to be played with) and other curiosities add a quirkiness that is marvelous. Peter the owner lives next door. He was very helpful and accommodating. He's a professional artist and his work is displayed throughout the house. All in all we had a wonderful time and highly recommend this house to holiday in.

Family get together!
Our stay was an absolute joy from start to finish! It was the perfect meeting place for our family to come together…nine of us….with plenty of room to eat, sleep, play, repeat! The house is stunning! We’d go back in a heartbeat. Peter couldn’t have been more helpful and we thank him for making our stay so easy and enjoyable. If you can manage the current red tape in terms of travelling to and from France, it is WELL worth the trip! The whole area was the most lovely surprise! Who knew this part of France was so beautiful!? A wonderful stay in every way. Thank you so much Peter!

A good time was had by all ...
All of our party (aged 2 to 70+) had a relaxing and very enjoyable holiday. The accommodation is spacious and the layout perfect for a multi-generational group. It's generally well-equipped, and there are one or two particularly attractive features: some nice furniture, the 'library', the TV 'well' (enjoyed by the young ones after busy days at the beach), and the pool table (enjoyed by the teenagers).
The location is excellent, close to the pretty town of Montreuil and 15 minutes' drive from the lovely beach at Merlimont.
There were one or two minor problems - there were no serving spoons, one of the hand-held showers didn't work, and some of the outside furniture is beginning to show it's age - but these didn't stop us having a great holiday.

A great weekend break for the family
A lovely house to stay in as our base to visit the surrounding areas, including two wonderful sunny days on the beach at Le Touquet. We were 6 adults and a two and a half year old and we ALL had a lovely time, enjoying our surroundings and the comfort and facilities provided in the house. The booking arrangements and communications were excellent and Peter was a very amenable and considerate host, making sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We hope to visit again sometime soon!

We stayed at this house for a long Bank holiday weekend & it was perfect. Lovely big house with all the facilities you need to relax and enjoy time with the family. We had 3 young children and 5 adults and there was plenty of room! The location is quiet and the garden is very big, perfect for late evening barbecues and afternoons relaxing in the sunshine. There are quite a few stairs in the house so maybe not so good if you are have any mobility issues. But we had a great stay!

Fabulous house, great location
My family stayed here for a long weekend (6 adults, 2 children), the wood burner had been lit for our arrival and it had a very welcoming feel.
The house was huge and with all the different areas, we never felt on top of each other. It has table tennis, a pool table, an extensive selection of books and DVDs and a well equipped kitchen. It is full of character with lots of ornaments and artwork.
The location was great, we visited Le Touquet, Montreuil and Le Crotoy which were all beautiful.
Peter was available next door for help, not that we needed any assistance as everything was set up so well.
We would love to return one day.

Great holiday
Firstly the farm house was easy to find (thank god for sat navs) and ideally located. We went out every day to a different place and didn’t, travel more than 25 minutes at any time.
I would say that the village appeared very quiet and we didn’t find any sort of shop or eaterie but saying that the supermarket was only a few minutes drive away and this didn’t cause us any problems.
There were 10 adults, 2 small children and a small baby in our party and the sheer size of the place meant that at no point we we in each other’s way. The pool table in the huge dining room was a particular favourite.
Peter lives in the attached property and was on hand if needed but otherwise was in the back ground. A special thanks to Peter as the reason for our family holiday was to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday and he not only recommended a restaurant to us but actually booked everything up on our behalf and then popped around to ensure we had a good meal - which we certainly did.
I would certainly cecommend this property.

Ideal, rambling, and interesting house for our family of 7 adults and 5 children
Large, comfortable house with plenty of space for everyone. Large, cool dining room and table especially welcome in the exceptionally hot weather we had for some of the time when too hot to sit outside. Good and secure, outdoor space for children with swings etc., but disappointing that the ping-pong table dipped in the middle and unsuitable for a game. However, inventive children enjoyed making a den underneath.
Some of us found the various steps and stairs a bit difficult -- but we were warned!
Shower in the "Napoleon" bedroom tricky to say the least; and toilets in the ensuites would be an improvement, also another shower unit maybe instead of a bath.
Very good location in delightful village, with small park and children's play area just behind the house, not too far from beaches. On occasion, we did notice noisy neighbours and their dogs quite late into the night.
Peter was welcoming and helpful; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house in Sorrus.

Location and property spot on
We where a family of 6 adults and 4 young children the property was spot on as regards facilities and location having Peter on site was a great benefit. The nearby city of le touquet was one of the nicest places I have every been and I have been to a lot. Paris seems a long way away but we visited Disney Paris in a day and it was a very easy great drive because of the toll road at a very reasonable price. The only down on the property is that the internet signal is not great but our own was so make sure you have unlimited internet before you go.

A really good mix of accommodation which is great for a large group
This was our second stay at this house in Sorrus and again it didn't disappoint. As a group of older males on a motorbiking trip, the mix of accommodation is ideal and of the eight of us, only four had to share rooms but we could have also used the sofa beds to avoid this, had it been an issue. From Le Shuttle, it is only about an hour's ride down the coast road which offers many challenging bends as well as stunning views. Alternatively you can take the quicker A16 but it turns into a toll road as you go south towards the property. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need (plenty of cutlery and crockery) and the dishwasher ensures all can have a relaxing holiday without endless washing up. The lovely weather meant we made good use of the supplied barbecue and spent most of our time outside, but the space and layout enables people to get away from each other if required, even if it is raining. The outdoor table tennis and indoor pool tables also got some good use in the evenings. Sorrus is a very sleepy village, so it is necessary to travel for provisions, but the Carre Four Market is only a couple of miles away and stocks nearly everything (it even has a good selection of gluten-free items which one of us needed). It is about an hour's walk along a quiet road to the nearby town of Montreuil which is very picturesque and has a great selection of shops and restaurants. The location enabled us to combine a brilliant 1-2 hour ride on quiet, smooth open roads (with no potholes!!) before spending time at some of the many WW1 Battlefield sites and memorials. Alternatively, the seaside towns of Berck, Fort Mahon (great beach for swimming) and Le Crotoy are all quite close as well as a number of golf courses; there is great scenery for photographers or artists so there should be something relatively nearby to cater for most tastes. Peter, the very accommodating host, lives next door so is generally available in the event of any issues. All in all it was another great stay and excellent value for money. I would recommend this property for a large family, a couple of families travelling together or a larger group such as ours. Highly recommended.

It did what it said on the tin! (English)
It was cosy yet spacious, and all the amenities just right. We had four adults and six children for a week and all had a wonderful stay. Supermarket not too far, beaches superb and warm sea to swim in at Le Touquet. The kids loved Nausicaa in Boulogne and we even got to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower so situation was ideal. Having Peter on site was helpful and we'd do it again for sure.

Fantastic accommodation for a large group
As a group of seven (oldish) blokes on our first cross-channel motorbiking weekend, we found it really hard to find suitable accommodation with the appropriate availability of beds - until we found this which has real character. Peter the owner was an excellent host and made us feel very welcome - thank you! There is a good mix of spacious double and twin rooms and a family room which meant only two of us had to share a room and there are enough toilets, showers and baths to cope with us all wanting to freshen up after a days riding in the hot sunshine. The kitchen was well equipped, but as we had great weather, we only cooked one meal over the three evenings we were there and the supplied barbecue got well used instead. There was certainly enough room for people to relax without feeling cramped (even if the weather means you can't go outside) and the table tennis and pool tables got a lot of use. There are also swings for younger children and room for them to run around safely. There is a good mix of seating areas so it is easy to find somewhere quiet or to be in a big group depending on what suits. The property is only a short ride away from a large supermarket so getting provisions was easy. The village of Sorrus itself is very quiet (no shops, bars or restaurants) but it is surrounded by fantastic riding roads and is well sited for visiting local tourist / historic sites / beaches such as Valery sur Somme, the Somme battlefield memorials and Le Touquet with the added bonus of enjoying the journey getting there. Unfortunately, we only went through Montreuil (the nearest town) on the last evening, but it looked really charming with some good restaurants etc. and is a good excuse for us to come back again.
We would highly recommend this property as a great base for a couple of families holidaying together or a group of friends such as us on a biking trip and it was very cost effective - for the seven of us, the cost per person for three nights was less than one night in a hotel. Overall a fantastic experience and we are already planning a return visit.

Great place to stay for Opal Coast and Montreuil
Our French conversation group, numbering ten, enjoyed a great three night stay at this property. There was ample space, both in the bedrooms and the lounge and dining rooms for us to gather and chat. Its in a great position for visiting Le Touquet, the rest of the Opal Coast and the historic town of Montreuil. The village of Sorrus is pleasant and very quiet. The house was generally well maintained and equipped although a few items of crockery were chipped. The owner, Peter, was very welcoming and helpful

Great place to stay
We were a group of friends and family in France for a short break to practise our French skills. This lovely property provided us with good accommodation and a convenient base for trips out to Le Touquet and Montreuil sur Mer The village of Sorrus is beautiful and very quiet, although supermarket and other facilities are no more than 5-10 mins away. The property is well situated and the owner, Peter, is most helpful and friendly

Just the ticket
This was a family gathering to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Loos 1915 and in particular the passing of Pte Edwin Salt Hill, 2 Welsh Fusiliers, on 25 Sep, the opening day. Those present were Grandpa and Grandma (Edwin's grand daughter) from the UK together with their son James (Edwin's great grandson) with his wife Sarah, and their boys Henry and Joe (Edwin's great great grandsons) from Australia. We chose the right place. One hour or so west of the battlefield and only 30 minutes from the beach at le Touquet, Sorrus offered an ideal home for us all to relax, revive and remuster for a very active week. The joining instructions were comprehensive and accurate. The property was in immaculate condition and just as described on the website. We were especially pleased to find the bedrooms we preferred already made up, despite the owner, Peter, being away for a couple of days. The central kitchen was well equipped, with a table large enough to seat all six of us for every meal. We never used the dining room at one end of the house, except for the pool table which kept the grandsons happily occupied for hours. At the other end of the house, the Sky TV lounge was much appreciated for the rugby World Cup coverage and, above, the mezzanine library provided a quiet haven. The bedrooms and bathrooms on the top floor were neatly separated by a couple of doors providing the grandparents with welcome seclusion in the west wing. Outdoors, the surprises continued with a garage full of classic cars, two lovely kittens and eight perfect chickens, who kept Grandpa occupied all week. What is more, there was a great football playing grass area to one side of the house which kept the peace all round. In between enjoying the house and its surroundings, we found good supermarkets in and around Montreuil, cafes for that wind down beer in the market square and, on Saturday, a pretty good market there too. We enjoyed visits to 'Paris on Sea 'at le Touquet, its beaches, shops and bars, very elegant and free parking during the week. But we were there for a purpose and while we also visited Agincourt (1415), Vimy (1917) and the V2s at Wizernes (1945), all an easy hour or so drive away, on Friday 25 Sep we reported, with many others, to Dud Corner Memorial at Loos for the centenary. A moving day with much learnt and remembered. Then back to the peace and tranquillity of Sorrus and Peter's lovely home. Well done Peter and Owners Direct - six very satisfied customers.

Great Party Place.
We were eight women in total, all great friends, who came to stay at this wonderful farmhouse to celebrate my 60th birthday. What a ball we had. It certainly is a great place to party. There were "wows" from everyone as we investigated the house.
Loads of bedrooms so no one had to share beds. The large spacious dining room was perfect and the living room with its vaulted ceiling was a great place to chill. The mezzanine was the best place to dance till the early hours, even if we were mostly of retirement age. All of us appreciated the lovely art work everywhere, the chickens roaming in the lovely garden and the peaceful village.
We went to a large Brocante market in nearby St. Josse, suggested by Peter and bought lots of bargains. Nearby beaches ( Merlimont and Berck ) were beautiful and mostly empty. Amiens was a good day trip, to visit the biggest cathedral in France.
On the last night we went to Froggies restaurant in nearby Montreuil, where the food was really good and the staff really helpfull and friendly.
Everyone had the most memorable time, in this lovely house which the pictures on the web site do not do it justice and we would certainly recommend it to friends. Thanks.

Perfect for a large group.
We stayed in this for a weekend in March. Despite the weather still being unusually cold, the house was very warm and cosy. Peter the owner was extremely welcoming and helpful. The house is lovely, better than the photos, and very well equipped with everything you might need for a large group. Upstairs is enormous! with plenty of space for everyone to feel relaxed, and plenty of loos and baths/showers to avoid any queues! We had an excellent trip to the new Louvre gallery in Lens, which was well worth the visit for the extraordinary building as well as the exhibits! (it's also free entry for 2013!) We will be back!

Everything you need for a large group.
This is the perfect place for a large group of family and friends. It's huge and this means that there's room for everyone to do their own thing and space for all to dine and socialise together. Crucially, there are also plenty of bathrooms and toilets.
Unusually, for a holiday let, there's enough comfortable seating for all guests , enough room around the dining table and plenty of crockery, cutlery etc. (if you're a keen cook, take a couple of sharp knives!) The log burner makes it a perfect cosy Winter hideaway. The decor is stylish and guests are trusted with many items that are part of a family home.
A pool table is a nice addition for younger members of your party ( and some older members!) and there's English TV if you need it.
Our visit was a Winter one, but there's lots of lovely outside space for warmer weather.
This is a very interesting area with lots to see, but any trip out means an expedition in the car because there are no shops within walking distance.
We loved Le Touquet and its magical Christmas lights. Avoid the town centre traffic nightmare by parking free in the small streets off the first big roundabout just before the Westminster Hotel and enjoy the short walk into the town. Have a crepe and some cider at the small creperie on the left just before the sea front; fantastic!
Boulogne is a nice day our for a wander around the fortified town, a bit of a shop and a leisurely lunch. Nausicaa is good for younger members of the party.
Do not miss ( if you're a seafood lover) the wonderful fish shop in Etaples, on the left after the roundabout, with a handy free car park next door. You can buy a ready prepared plateau de fruits de mer, or put your own together; cheaper than the posh place in Le Touquet!
Montreuil is good for a walk around the ramparts and here are many small places for lunch.
All in all, a great place for a large group with no disappointments.
