L'accueil a été extraordinaire. C'est un hôtel familial. Il y a peu de chambres. C'est calme et cosy. On s'y sent bien.

Great hospitality and helpfulness of the hosts, Joseph and his father. The room and premise was also well kept and clean.

From the arrival up to the moment of departure we absolutely loved this place.
It's a family run business. The dad greats you, shows you where to park and helps with the suitcases - this all in a very friendly manner. You just feel at home from the first minute.
The room is immaculate: beautifully decorated, nice linen, comfy bed, lovely smelling room and so is the bathroom and its separately toilet.
It you stay here having dinner at their restaurant is a MUST. The tables are nicely set with white clothes and high quality glassware. The card is small but exquisite the food which is served and prepared with so much dedication. Nice starters with bread from the local bakery, the main course is excellent and the desert is not to be missed. This all is cooked by the son and his partner proved to be a fantastic hostess too!
We left very early and didn't have chance to taste the breakfast although it very kindly was offered to us - even outside the normal breakfast hours.
LOVED LOVED LOVED it!
Nothing - perhaps our fault that we didn't have enough time to stay a bit longer....

Greeted with a warm welcome and every need was anticipated, every request met. Dietary wishes were all catered for. A gorgeous room with a rich solid wooden floor, warm atmosphere and warmer underfloor heating. The royally sized bath the cherry on the cake. Biker friendly with secure motorcycle parking available. Attention to detail was apparent in every corner of the suite with no corners cut.

Perfectly calm and cute hotel. Well design in it's style and the reception is very helpful.
The scent in all the rooms and restaurant. Although supposed to smell nice, it is way too much everywhere.

Very nice and helpful personell. Charming hotell in old style with carefully selected mix of antique and modern details. Clean. Delicate three dishes menu dinner. Rich breakfast.

Very polite and responsible stuff, clean rooms, tasty food, easy check in, comfortable bed and bathroom
Poor soundproofing between rooms. Also it was very windy the night we stayed, and the whole night any kind of wire was rattling on the roof.

Very big and clean room. Big bed. Traveled in the cold season but the room was nice and warm. Nice decor.
Had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant and was served the most fantastic starter (a salad with shrimps and asparagus). Eating in the restaurant is a “must”

This is a hidden gem. Cleverly decorated with new v’s old designs and the most wonderful light fittings. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and we couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming stay. If the location fits don’t hesitate to book this!
A little tricky to find up a tiny street but the host personally took us to the car park area.

The village of Terrades makes a great base for exploring the Pyrenees. The two gentlemen who run this small olde-world style hotel are friendly, charming and so helpful. The breakfast was hearty and delicious and Juan Carlos and José Maria made a huge effort to make our New Year's Eve meal one to remember. We cannot thank them enough and warmly recommend La Fornal to anyone visiting this delightful part of Catalonia.
There was a bit of an off-odour from the bathroom, but this is common in Spain and did not bother us as we kept the bathroom door closed.

droll and odd but really nice place. Warm and helpful welcome in the evening, it was dark already, and somebody was waiting in front of the hotel to help us find a parking spot and explained us the area. Two really nice old men do the service in the hotel. The room is big, bed is good and heater in the bathroom which is not very common in Spain but helpful when you only have 5° outside. Super breakfast, and we had to leave early (for Spain) , but their anyway did this for us, even we were the only guests. I consider this as a very safe place, also for the car, there is parking close by and it really is only a small moutain village.
Would have been nice to heat up the room before we come. 5° outside and subjective feeling the same in the room was the only "not very warm" part of the welcome. Dinner you either like or not, it is spanish home cooking, I was OK, my wife did not like it, but again, this is subjective and not objective. But we received a nice postre and a great licor after the dinner. The so called "balcony" isn't really a balcony, but that does not change our positive feeling about this place.

The elderly staff is friendly, helpful and tries hard to make a good job.
The taps in the bathroom are not very practical but very attractive. I loved the care products (Rituals) and the fluffy bath towels. Certain decorative elements are quite nice and we have been served a digestive liquor from the region wich was excellent.
We have been served the strangest main dish (recommended by the waiter) I have ever had in my life (a piece of chicken decorated with a giant prawn, no veggies, no starch supplements.... really weird.
The art paintings decorating the walls of the rooms are quite strange too and the room scent was much too intense for my taste.

Was looking for somewhere to stay when driving back from South Spain to England. Wanted to stop close to the French Border but in Spain and La Fornal fitted the bill. Beautiful traditional Hotel in a lovely village. We were greeted at reception by Joesph and the Boss and were made to feel very welcome. Our room was huge with tradition features. The heating was on as it was a particularly windy and chilly afternoon so we were grateful for that. We decided to have our dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was freshly cooked and delicious, served with a lovely bottle of local white wine. We set off early the next morning 4.30am so can't comment on breakfast although the Boss offered to get up and make us coffee before we left which we politely declined as to early for even the kindest host. Will definitely stay again hopefully when its not so windy and warmer. Thank you again Mr & Mrs Robinson

We stayed one night on our way to Alicante. Great hotel! Very clean rooms, friendly hosts, excellent breakfast. The fridge in the room came in handy! Had a lovely diner at the property as well. Charming village.
The diner was a bit pricy.

Friendliness and gentleness of proprietor. Staying in an old house in the middle of a little historical village in the middle of nature. The room, the singing of the birds.... And breakfast is heaven. Go find out!

Very nice hotel with big room and big bed. Very clean and comfortable with aircon. Parkingspace for our car could be seen from our room. Nice 😀.
Host was very kind and made us a good meal even though the staff was absent. Geat value for the money - we will return👍😁

The room and the whole place was beautifully decorated and the host made us feel at home from the moment we stepped in. We were travelling with our 2-year old daughter and she also loved the place and how spacious the room was. In the morning, a generous breakfast was prepared for us with croissants, bread and ham, coffee, juice... We will surely return!
Everything was great!

It’s a nice cozy hotel located in the heart of a small rural village, perfect for a romantic weekend in the nature or a hike in the mountains. The room was spacious, just renovated. Bathroom was clean, well equipped, with soft towels and hairdryer. There was separate bath tub and shower. Hotel staff was super nice and friendly. One of the best part was the breakfast. I was not expecting to find a table ready for us in the morning with a lot's of food (salty and sweet). All was cured in details. The only negative thing is that you need the car to get there.

The room was beautifully decorated and super comfortable, the owner is a true gem and quite fun, only regret is that my husband had a cold and didn’t feel like eating so we didn’t taste the celebrated cuisine but that was amply compensated for by the delicious charcuterie, good wine and fabulous company

Nice staff
Very old bed, unfomfortable. Untidy room, restaurant closed even though we had reserved a table.

In the peaceful town of Terrades you can get in touch with a reminiscence of the historic Empordà culinary hospitality!
We ended up at this hotel by sheer luck because our usual hotel was fully booked, but boy were we in for a surprise ... Our room turned out to be the embodiment of the classical romantic stay: a tree providing shelter from the burning sun, a comfortable canopy bed and a discrete air conditioning. The bathroom reflected the typical Mediterranean style, a bath and shower with separate toilet and bidet.
The landlord offered us a (few) glass(es) of their local white wine and entertained us with highly amusing stories from the past, which didn’t seem to affect our already jolly good temper ...
The biggest surprise turned out to be the culinary uppercut later that evening: for a mere € 20,- we enjoyed four (!) starters, a mesmerizing monkfish zarzuela and a heavenly light dessert.
Needless to say that we shall be returning soon to La Fornal dels Ferrers, and this time we’ll be bringing friends and family ...
The fact that we haven’t discovered this establishment sooner ...
