Great location in Venice - near the Guidecca Canal, Perfect size for 2, well-equipped, fabulous rooftop terrace an absolute highlight. And Mara - who is the local contact - is a joy. Any negatives? 1) 3 floors up so I guess not ideal if mobility issues 2) The aircon was playing up - and is needed in high summer. Will hopefully be sorted soon. But overall highly recommended.

The apartment was great. The Dorsoduro area was a perfect area to relax and get away from the crowds yet within walking distance of everything. Mara gave us all the information we needed and was so enthusiastic and friendly. We had everything we needed. The suggeestion list of restaurants and sights were very helpful. Thanks Helen and James for sharing your aparment with us.

We just loved everything about our stay. It was a beautiful, well designed apartment with easy communication. Just perfect.

We had a lovely stay at the Venice apartment. The apartment was spotless and well appointed. The view from the terrace is excellent, and the neighborhood was quiet with easy walks to restaurant and a grocery store. We certainly recommend the apartment.

The apartment is ideally located for most of the Tourist hot spots but is actually situated where the ordinary people of Venice live. Loads of local information provided and the lovely Mara (who lives downstairs) who offers enthusiastic guidance about Venice which is a city she clearly loves.
The air conditioning was really good and much appreciated as it was very hot for the first 4 days.
I really would highly recommend this apartment with its magnificent rooftop terrace as the icing on the cake.

This apartment is absolutely beautiful. The location is great. Dorsoduro is dynamic but quiet. We could get to all of the places we wanted to within a 30 minute walk (Venice is all about walking!). I’ve rented about 10 apartments through VRBO, and this is one of the nicest, most beautifully appointed, and most comfortable. The check in process was easy and quick. Like other reviewers, I have never encountered having to have a personal check out… I don’t love that, especially since getting out and getting to the airport can be a little stressful without the added challenge of coordinating a checkout, but Mara (the on-site contact) was super accommodating and quick to respond. So it wasn’t that difficult.
We highly recommend this apartment!!

The apartment was as beautiful and romantic as the ad stated. It was well appointed, tastefully decorated and curated with interesting local Venetian art. That being said, as a VRBO host for many years I would never let my guests arrive to a refrigerator without any sparking or still water after traveling to their destination and without any ice in the freezer. The check-in process was somewhat grueling. The property manager was repetitive and at times condescending. We had to meet with her again upon our departure which was a first for me. There has to be some level of trust in this process and I didn’t feel that was there. There was no lighting in the entry foyer so have a flashlight ready for the stairwell climb. A beautiful property in a desirable neighborhood but I wouldn’t return

A wonderful apartment in a fabulous location. Beautifully decorated with a roof terrace to die for!

You have to go up several flights of steep, narrow steps. The stairways are not air conditioned and it felt like we were going pass out trying to get up to the apartment but we made it. The temperature inside the apartment was hotter than the stairway but we opened the windows and turned on the A/C. I took a quick shower to clean off the sweat shortly after check in. My wife went to take a shower after dinner but there was no hot water 😳🤬. We contacted the manager. She said she would get a plumber in the morning. The living room cooled within 4 hours but the bedroom doesn’t have A/C so we went to bed and marinated in our sweat. Got a crappy nights sleep and woke up to find still no hot water. We called the manager. She came over quickly and told us there would be no plumber until the following day. 🤬 We contacted VRBO and after waiting 30 minutes we finally got to speak with someone. That person connected us the property owner. Jamie and Helen were very apologetic and gave us full refund. 👍
Please check about the hot water before booking. Also, the amenity of A/C is a little suspect.

We have just returned from a perfect 4 days in this beautiful apartment. Nothing could have been improved and we will return

What a cute little apartment with the added bonus of the roof terrace - breakfast up there is a wonderful way to start your day. Really close to water bus stops and easy access for pretty much everything.

Very nice, calm and elegant apartment in the beautiful area of Dorsoduro. The terrace with the view on the water and on the roofs is wonderful. We really liked the interior decoration and the layout made by an architect. Thank you for your welcome, we will be back!

A very nice apartment for two. It has everything you need for a week in Venice. The location is a big bonus: On one end it is very quiet and one can sleep well. On the other side it is only a few yards to the bank of the river Rio dei Carmini, where are many restaurants and bars with a great view of Giudecca. Overall everything is in walking distance: supermarket, restaurants of all categories, wine bars. Another stunning feature is the roof top, which invites to have a glass at sunset. Communication with the owner was quick and uncomplicated. She gave us very valuable tips, where to eat etc. The onsite housekeeper was very friendly anf flexible and there when we needed her. Overall a nice apartment with charme and atmosphere, which made as feel at home during our week in Venice.

From check in to departure we had a lovely experience. We were extremely grateful for the air conditioning during the heat wave. The rooftop is as spectacular as pictured.

Very easy communication with the owners and the agency and a check-in without problems. Thank you Mara!
Positive highlights:
Just around the corner from the Vaporetto stop S. Basilio.
Conad Superstore less than 100 metres away.
Very nicely furnished apartment with some great paintings on the walls.
Kitchen well equipped for our venetian cooking, including fegato alla veneziana, whole branzino (bass) on a vegetable bed and much more.
Well stacked DVD rack and bookshelves.
Last and best of course: the terrace on the top floor. We did spend all mornings and evenings there and enjoyed the view, the gardens below...and the seagulls ;-)
This was our 10th visit to Venice and we absolutely love the Dorsoduro quarter - just minutes away is the campo S. Barnabà and the campo Sta Margherita where you are really in Venice and can enjoy the ambiente away from the hordes of "guided tourists". May it stay that way.
One disappointment of this year's visit: the Biennale. What has happened to that formerly great exhibition of art? It's become a fair of (videotaped) vanities and brabbles. Not worth the 25 Euros at all anymore.
To end on a smiling note: this apartment gives you everything you want to enjoy a relaxed holiday in the most beautiful city of the world.
Thank you Helen and Jamie

The apartment is lovely, clean and well appointed. It’s a great neighborhood. Close to all the sights but a bit away from the crowds. The balcony was a wonderful amenity. We would absolutely stay here again.

We loved the apartment! It was very relaxing and peaceful. We loved that there is a supermarket right downstairs. It was a bit chilly when we stayed but we still managed a few sunsets on the rooftop terrace. Mara met us and showed us the apartment when we arrived. She is so cheerful and friendly. She texted to check on us while we were there and also told us not to hesitate calling her if we needed anything. Amazing place to stay!!

Wonderful location and beautiful apartment with rooftop deck for enjoying amazing views. This is really a unique and magical place to stay in this breathtaking city. The accommodations were top notch. Wonderful lighting and comfortable breezes through out . The area where it’s located is very convenient to markets, restaurants and Campos to enjoy relaxing and experiencing the true nature of Venice. I plan to retire and when I do this will be my first choice for a place to stay.

This charming , romantic apartment is immaculate and well appointed with everything we could hope for in a home away from home. It was such a happy experience to stay here. Quality furnishings throughout. The roof top deck is such a delightful bonus and a great spot to unwind with a spritz while watching the sun go down. Two steps to the boat stop and the top notch Conad market. The owners and their onsite host were wonderful to talk to and always accessible.
The Dorsodoro neighborhood is always our first choice when staying in Venice. Away from the crowds, beautiful views, and plenty of lovely restaurants. This apartment is gem.

Increasingly, the "problem" with Venice is how to enjoy the whole unique experience without being swamped by the crowds. One option is to stay somewhere further afield, but that very often means depriving yourself of the real feel of the city, particularly once the day visitors have departed. Another solution is to stay in this gem of an apartment in Western Dorsoduro - even before you go up onto the serene roof-terrace you realise you are somewhere very special, surrounded by the Guidecca canal at the front, with other canals on two sides, all full of life, colour and buzz. The rooftop terrace is the icing on the cake - at eye level with several beautiful church towers (Carmini, Angelo Raffaelo and San Sebastiano for example), plus a unique panorama of Venetian rooftops as far as the eye can see.The apartment itself is well equipped and furnished with taste, with bags of room for all your belongings. If it's hot and sunny, it's light and airy, if it's raining, it's cosy! From the moment you turn into the narrow allyway leading to the street door, you are entering a zone of peace after the bustle! The location is ideal - literally 100m to the very well served San Basilio vaporetto stop, or less than 5/10 minutes to Santa Margherita/San Barnaba. A supermarket on the Zattere before you even reach San Basilio is stocked with everything from basics to high-end deli. For a unique experience, put this apartment at the top of your list - satisfaction guaranteed!

Lovely apartment. Great location. Well equipped. Excellent communication and information from the owner. The apartment is ideal for a couple. It is in a lovely area, within walking distance of all attractions, and has a water stop within 150 metres, if you need transport. There is a well stocked food store 100 metres from the apartment and there are numerous restaurants within close proximity.Lovely roof terrace with views to the Guidecca Canal. There are a number of stairs leading to the apartment. I only mention this if you have mobility issues.I would highly recommend this apartment.

We spent a week in this lovely apartment in the middle of May and really enjoyed the experience. It was so surreal to sit on the roof terrace and watch the ocean liners sail by! We had one wet day and it was lovely to have somewhere to relax with plenty of space (as compared to an average hotel room). Our welcome was warm despite our plane being delayed by 4.5 hours. The closeness of the supermarket and the vaporetto stop was very useful. If we had the chance we would certainly stay here again.

This was our first extended stay in Venice and found the apartment very easy to reach. We arrived by train and took a short vazporetto ride from the station to San Basilo. The apartment is only a few steps away and we were met and taken up there very nicely. The stairs are steep and narrow, but easily done later without luggage.
The apartment is nicely appointed and very clean and bright. There are windows everywhere and it is filled with light. The kitchen is small, but has all the neccessary equipment to self cater. A grocery store is nearby and fresh food is everywhere.
The apartment is in a quiet area of town just off the Zatterre and uncrowded compared with other parts of town. The surrounding area is residential and has many fine eating places.
The location is great for walking to any part of the city or hopping on the vaporetto and seeing the sights from the water. We bought the seven day pass which is expensive, but are glad we did. We rode the boats at least once each day plus arriving and leaving. Being able to hop on and off was well worth it.
We had a great week and can't wait to return. We recommend it to anyone visiting Venice and wanting something different from the usual hotel experiance.
4.9
The flat is almost on the Zatterre waterfront and the terrace is huge which gives fantastic views of Venice and close ups of the Crusie ships as they enter and leave Venice.
One bedroom and a sofa bed gives plenty of room for 3 or at a pinch 4 to stay and the mosquito screens keep uninvited guests out in the evening.
The light airy feel, furniture, the terrace and the location are key to enjoying this quality apartment. There are a lot of stairs so don't bring a heavy suitcase but the climb (even for a 60 year old like me) is manageable and the reward is the light spacious flat and superb terrace.
There are plenty of restuarants nearby and Campo Santa Margherita is a must to visit for drinks, meals and to 'soak' up the atmosphere. Helen the owner is brilliant at keeping you informed and giving advice so book early and give yourself a treat staying here.

Just returned from a lovely short break at the apartment and really enjoyed staying there. The best thing about the apartment is the light which pours in to the many windows and the tasteful furnishings throughout. The location is wonderful as it isn't overcrowded with tourists, but it is a beautiful area to go meandering. The vaporetto stop is two minutes away, and there is a supermarket next door.
The air conditioning is very effective, if required. The roof terrace is wonderful for a romantic night in. Would very much recommend it and look forward to returning.
One more thing - this apartment is so easy to get to from the airport. You can easily get a taxi from Marco Polo and walk to the apartment from the port. This cannot be said for many other apartments in Venice, which either require hugely expensive water taxis or several vaporettos.
4.9
We stayed here during the Venice Carnival in February 2009 and landed on our feet with this perfect spot. The place is fabulously clean and well equiped. Tucked away behind a main promenade it is convenient to shops, restaurants and vaporetti (transport). but quiet and private. The neighborhood is fantastic as it is still walking distance to everything you want to see yet very laid back and calm. You can explore the area endlessly with always something new to see.
Its wonderful to retire to the rooftop with stunning views and tolling church bells after a long day of walking. The flat offers all the comforts of home in probably the best area of Venice and we would definitley love to return one day.

This is a beautiful apartment with lovely views. It has everything you need. It is very well looked after and is very comfortable. We really enjoyed the roof terrace and the peaceful setting. The apartment is in a wonderful and interesting area of Venice where you can get away from the crowds. It is also close to all amenities, especially good to be close to the Billa supermarket and the water bus stop. We would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants a quiet and beautiful setting for their holiday. You can explore all of Venice from this apartment, but then you can return to a comfortable and wonderful place to sit and relax.
We also had friendly and efficient customer service from the owner and so felt very secure with our booking.
A wonderful apartment, a beautiful city and a friendly service - what more do you want from your holiday? We will definitely be returning.
Thank you.

This apartment is an absolute gem! It is situated very close to the centre of Venice so that everything is easily reached on foot or by waterbus, yet it is off the beaten tourist track and is very peaceful and quiet. It is light and airy, beautifully decorated and furnished, and has the added attraction of a roof terrace with lovely views. It is well equipped and very comfortable. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby, but if you feel like cracking open a bottle of wine and cooking at home, then that is easy too with a good shop and a colourful market close by. This place offers fantastic flexibility, convenience and versatility - very highly recommended!
