About this apartment rental
Already in the 14th century, 'De Drie Koningen' was one of the 'guest houses' where visitors could stay overnight. Since 1995 this tradition of hospitality can be found here again.
Today you will find 6 spacious and very comfortable holiday homes at this location, named 'De Drie Koningen'. They all have the same level of comfort with a spacious living room, fitted kitchen, 1 to 2 bathrooms with bath or walk-in shower, 1 to 4 bedrooms, etc ... They are spread over 3 buildings:
Twijnstraat 13: the building dates from the 14th century. The medieval aspect has unfortunately disappeared because it was thoroughly renovated in 1839 in the spirit of that time: a large mansion in neoclassical style. In 1997 the building was divided into 3 apartments: St-Donaas on the ground floor, St-Niklaas on the first floor and St-Jacob on the second floor. In 2002, the basement "De Vergulde Fontein" was completely excavated. The history of 'De Drie Koningen' came to light and one of the most beautiful 14th century cellars in Bruges was finally exposed. In this magnificent cellar you can attend now beer tastings, small events and Argentinian tango classes. From 2016 onwards, the apartments were once again renovated one by one in order to comply with the imposed safety regulations and the contemporary wishes of the visitors.
Twijnstraat 17: was originally part of a former notary's house from the 17th century in the Ridderstraat. At the beginning of the 20th century it became a private hospital with a doctor's practice until 1999. During the renovation in 2001 all outbuildings were demolished and a patio was created. This beautifully enclosed communal city garden (including a small swimming pool) gives access to 3 different apartments: "St-Jan" on the ground floor, "Onze-Lieve-Vrouw" above the former coach house and "Carmers" on the second floor. From 2017 onwards, the apartments were renovated for the last time.
A 'home away from home' for a pleasant holiday with friends or family.
This apartment is located on the first floor of Twijnstraat 13. The many niches in the walls bear witness to a rich history up to the 14th century.
After many renovations, it was redesigned for the last time in 2021 in a contemporary way with respect for the elements from the 19th century. The result may be seen: high ceilings, fireplace, spacious rooms, parquet in the living room. The whole radiates a lot of charm and the sunlight has every opportunity to penetrate.
The large living space contains a dining and sitting area. A separate fitted kitchen contains all modern comfort: induction hob, oven and microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, ... The bathroom meets the highest expectations with a bathtub and a walk-in shower.
Finally, there are 2 super cozy bedrooms (1 queen-size bed and 2 single beds).

Spacious, nicely decorated apartment located in city center. Convenient to restaurants and attractions. We enjoyed our stay.

Our stay was wonderful. The apartment was more than enough space for our family of four. It was exactly as advertised. We loved the location. The honesty bar was a nice amenity.

I believe this is the very best short term rental in which we have stayed. Everything was amazing. The property is a good size, very clean, warm and inviting. Decorated nicely but not cluttered at all. There is a big comfortable couch and chair for plenty of seating to watch a movie. The kitchen had everything we needed and the greatest coffee maker. Tom the owner/manager created the best instruction and suggestion book I have ever seen. Comfy beds, plenty of storage. Such a perfect location to get to the heart of Bruges. It uses codes instead of keys which is great when traveling with multiple adults. That way people can come and go as they please without worrying about who has the key.
But over and above all that, the other amenities were a huge shared garden space with a small pool. Perfect place for wine and cheese. We had the use of a washer dryer and an “honesty” bar. It was filled with tons of beer and other drinks. There is a huge selection of DVDs also.
The best surprise was running into Tom and having him show us the basement of the property. It’s not for guests use but it has an amazing story he will have to share if you visit. It’s from hundreds of years ago. Absolutely fascinating to see this piece of history and I am so grateful that Tom shared it with us!!
Our stay here made Bruges that much better. Thank you Tom! Honestly we wish our stay had been longer to enjoy more of the garden area.

Such a gem
Everything about this property is wonderful. The owners are delightful and extremely helpful. The property has been beautifully renovated and provides all the new electronics to make those digital and internet fiends happy. Restaurants close by are good and plentiful and having a wine cave at your disposal is a terrific touch. If, at any time in the future, I return to this lovely city I will be staying at this property.

Lovely apartment!
Really fabulous place and so central to everything! Easy to get to when got off the train, 10 minutes bus ride from right outside the train station, and 5 minutes walk when we got off the bus. Everything was there for when we checked in, and the owner offered more information on top of what was provided in the iPad allocated to us if necessary. The pictures on the website really don't do the flat justice, it is much more than the pictures show you. Very spacious, very clean, well decorated. It is located at the end of a busy street, full of shops and resturants, but it's very quiet. We loved the apartment, and loved Bruges! So much to see, not enough time to see everything! Will definitely go back to both Bruges and one of the apartments! The only one thing that I would say about the apartment is, it is located on the first floor and you have to walk up a long spiral staircase. Although it is fairly wide, but steep, but still a bit tricky walking up, and especially down, with heavy cases for older folks like us (over 65!) as we are not used this it in UK! Without the cases it is totally fine.

Surprisingly large
With a huge lounge/dining room, two good sized bedrooms, adequate kitchen and access to washing machine and dryer, this apartment was let down by the toilet and the spiral staircase. There doesn't seem to be a way to replace the spiral staircase but the toilet should have a small hand-basin!
Location is excellent, close to the Markt square but access by taxi (as in much of Bruges) difficult because of one way system; walking is much easier.

Great apartment near center of Bruges
We stayed in St. Nicklaas apartment, a 2 bedroom, huge apartment. The furnishings were tastefully done: tapestries on the walls, niches with art work, comfortable furniture. It was located a 4 minute walk from Markt in old Bruges, excellent. Garage was a good add on for 10 euro a night. It was locked, on the same block as the apartment. Building is from 1370s but successfully updated to modern conveniences. One flight of spiral stairs to reach the apartment. It is walking distances to a supermarket. Farmer's Market is on Wednesday morning in the Markt---great food stuff and provisions. An ideal stay for Bruges. I recommend you contact www.haarlemgreeters.com for a free 3 hour walking tour of Haarlem by a volunteer local.

Home away from home
Checkin instructions clear and made it quick which was ideal after we had ridden 60 miles in a torrential thunderstorm. Stayed in St Niklaus apartment which is much bigger than expected. The iPad is a great idea and allowed me to let Nico and Ann know we had arrived and also provided us much more info about Bruges. Central courtyard is stunning although due to weather we were sadly unable to use the pool. And has to be best honesty bar in the world. I have already recommended the apartments to friends and will definitely be back. Highly recommend Pitahaus (falafel, kebabs) food which is at the end of the street and also Beer and Ribs which we went to for my taller halfs birthday. A food extravaganza.

Large space, great location and good support.
The apartment was very big, clean with lots of equipment in the kitchen. It was 2 blocks from the central market and surrounded by restaurants. We had a bedroom on the main floor with a toilet on the same floor and a bathroom one floor up. The other bedrooms (2) had a toilet and bathroom on the upper floor. We never met the owners, but communicated by email and they always responded quickly and positively. We needed a parking place in their garage at the last minute for one night and thy graciously provided space. The washer and dryer in the garage was a great help as we were on our second week of travel. It was a very nice facility with all you could ask for by way of comfort.

waou!!!

Perfect choice for our group in Bruges.`
My husband and I travelled with another couple and a single friend to Bruges and stayed in the 'Onze-Lieve-Vrouw' apartment at De Drie Koningen. I had chosen this lodging for our party and they told me over and over during our stay how well I had done selecting this particular place. While it is located down a side street, it is a very, very short walk to the square and on your way to the square there's a coffee bar, several nice restaurants, and even an Irish pub. The apartment itself was very nice. There are some steep steps leading up to it, so if you have mobility issues that might be a problem. When you enter the apartment there is one bedroom immediately on the left. It has a nice, large bed and French doors onto the patio. As you pass by that bedroom you come into an open, spacious living room with a high ceiling and big windows. There's a large sectional, TV, and also a large dining table. On the same floor is the small kitchen. It's not really a "cook's kltchen" and is more for breakfast, quick snacks, and warming up restaurant leftovers in the microwave. Big frig. Suited us perfectly. Between the living room and the kitchen is a small toilet room. There are steep steps leading up to the other two bedrooms and both wash rooms. Our single friend stayed in the room with the two twin beds. My husband and I stayed in the room with the queen-size bed. It has a really high ceiling with battens. There is an adjoining room with a large tub and two sinks, but no toilet. In the area between the two bedrooms in another little toilet room and separately a room with a shower and two sinks. Since we had the room with the bathtub and we're not tub people, we just kept all of our toiletries in the washroom that adjoined our room and just showered in the other room and came back to ours to shave, dry our hair, or whatever. Would have been great to have a toilet, too, but it was fine. Nice, modern, and clean facilities. Our bedroom wasn't well insulated and we could hear every word going on downstairs. Again, it wasn't a problem, but thought light sleepers would want to know that. The owner, Nico, was a really nice guy. He's done so many unique things with the place. The iPad that comes with the rental is full of handy travel info and restaurant recommendations. We took advantage of the "honor bar" in the lobby and that was really convenient. What a great idea, too. Very handy paying with Paypal. Vastly superior to staying in a plain old hotel

Wonderful Week
My husband and I stayed in Carmers apartment during the first week of June, 2010 We were thrilled with this very spacious, nicely decorated and modern apartment. It was an excellent value and certainly exceeded our expectations. Ann and Nicco were helpful, friendly hosts with a very generous attitude. Everything possible was done to make our stay pleasurable. We especially appreciated the free use of the two washing machines and dryers. It was fun to try out the different Belgium beers available in the "honour" bar. The former convent has a pleasant court yard and we enjoyed our little roof top balcony when the weather warmed up. The property is in an excellent central location and yet is quiet at night. We only wish that we lived closer so that we could return regularly!

Stylish apartment, centrally located
My husband, baby and I stayed here for 3 nights in early Dec 2009. The apartment is beautiful and very spacious. It has a really well stocked kitchen and CDs and books are also provided. However the best things about his apartment were the free DVD library (handy for when the baby was in bed), the very well stocked honesty bar and the deliveries of fresh bread.
The apartment is very centrally located but also very quiet. All in all the perfect place!

Exceptional Value
My wife and I stayed here for 10 days in August 2009. The central location is ideal - close to all the major squares, shops, restaurants and riverside cafes. It was ideal to escape from the busy bus loads during the afternoon and a short walk to the fine eating or shopping that Bruges offers. The building is deceptive from the outside with a tranquil central garden and pool and mostly the other guests keep to themselves. Carmers' roof terace is lovely for a quiet drink in the evening. The owner was very welcoming and his staff and family were all helpful, polite and efficient - even for a pair of hot and bothered bikers such as us. Bruges itself was great - very few Brits but everyone speaks good English - an obscenely picturesque small town which we found notable for its complete absence of threat of any kind. A good base for a range of sights elsewhere, it's very close to the Belgian beaches, Brussels (train is easy), military trips (Ypres is about 45 minutes away, and Etaples 1 hr 20mins - ok, on a Ducati).
