About this apartment rental

The apartment is in an old building and fully renovated by us. We knocked down many walls to create an open and airy feeling throughout the apartment. The terrace was a key feature for us when we bought the place and we have spent many lovely mornings, lunches and evenings there admiring the views and letting the Lisbon sun in. The roof window on the second floor ads to airiness. We love cooking together, and since there are so many great food products available in Portugal, we created a kitchen that is made for team cookings. Lots of space and a kitchen island makes it a great place to be together. The kitchen is integrated in the living room making that area the natural hub for friends and family. Alfama, the old town with its myriad of alleys and lanes, bars and restaurants are just outside the door. Explore the Castle, the Pantheon and the Monastery by foot and take the chance to buy some antiques at the Feira de Ladra (Lisbon's biggest and best flea market). The metro is only 200 meters away from the apartment and gives you easy access to all Lisbon's attractions and there are buses on the street itself getting you out to Expo is 15 minutes.

Our family of 5 enjoyed this apartment. There was plenty of space for everyone and the suite upstairs was perfect. The balcony off the upstairs suite was very nice and had a great view of the church nearby. Having a washer and dryer was convenient. Communication with the owner was easy. We highly recommend this apartment!

Myself and 4 friends had wonderful stay at this flat. The rooftop terrace and views of the cathedral were wonderful. The flat was spacious had everything we needed, lovely out and some nice art, a great shower and a bath and comfortable beds. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Ekaterina

pleasant stay overall. a suggrstion would be to have a paper describing how to work remotes,and fact that everything is turned off as far as accessing wifi. also stating that there was no elevator. especially for senior citizens. our

Horrible experience! The place was not cleaned from the previous guests (at all!), and the staircase up to the unit was pitch black and not safe. The owners did not take responsibility to take care of these issues. We arrived early (12:30) to drop off our bags. First, the staircase lights weren't working. It was total darkness with narrow/steep stairs and very dangerous. When we got up to the unit, the cleaners weren't there and the place hadn't been cleaned. We called the owner to tell him about the staircase lighting and that the place wasn't cleaned yet, and he said he'd call the cleaners. We went off for the afternoon and came back at 5:15 (check in was at 4:00), fully expecting the lighting to be taken care of and the unit to be ready for us. We had been traveling for almost 24 hours and just wanted to go to bed. Nothing had been done! The staircase was still pitch black. In the unit it was used bedsheets, dirty towels on the bathroom floor, pizza boxes and a dirty rag on the counter, etc. We called the owner again and emphasized that we have two young kids who need to sleep. He just said he'd call the cleaners to come. We ended up being there until 9:00 at night, first waiting for the cleaners (never came), then contacting VRBO, then scrambling to find two hotel rooms to accommodate family on short notice. The cleaners never showed up and the owner never once followed up with us, which shows a total lack of responsibility.

Very cute apartment within walking distance to a lot of spaces. The location managers were great with communication and were very flexible. Heads up- you have to go up several flights of stairs that are not lit so we always had to have our phone flashlight out and it was hard for my older mother. Other than that small nuance- 10/10!

The location of this property was spectacular and worked well as a launching point for exploring Lisbon each day. The apartment itself had everything we needed and the view from the rooftop was charming. The updated interior was nice to have amongst the old building.

We stayed here for just a few days but had an amazing stay. The kitchen was great for cooking and the appartment is spatious and practical. The terrace has an iconic view and is great for having a drink in the evening. The location is perfect as well as the appartment is really central in the Alfama neighbourhood which contains a lot of beautiful buildings and streets.

This is a very comfortable property if you are a seasoned European traveler. Yes, the stairs are tricky-it's a very old building. We were lucky with parking all three days we were there. You may not be, but there is a parking garage not too far away. As others stated, the main bathroom has a short ceiling, you just work around it. We loved it and the location!

The apartment was just what we wanted. It was very clean, stocked kitchen. Just perfect. The views were awesome. The host was easy to deal with. She responded right away. I will say after reading the negative review below i was a little nervous but this place is nothing like he described. We never felt unsafe ever! The steps are a little narrow but not dangerous. There are light switches on each floor, so no need to panic if it shuts off. Everything is within walking distance. Such a great apartment in a great location!! You will not be sorry if you plan your next vacation here!!

Let me try to be as fair as I can. Our difficulty began when trying to even gain access to the property. It is located in a place that is not suitable to reach by car on the weekends. The main road into the area was barricaded off with no access, trying another route ran us into an active flea market with no access. The hosts essentially shrugged off our concerns as she was "out driving". We ended up moving construction barricades to get to the property where there was no place to park or unload our luggage. After double parking we entered the building and where we quickly realized the place was not as advertised. The plaster was coming off the walls in the stairwell and there were several stairs that were broken. My wife nearly fell when the wood step just popped up. She also immediately started dealing with allergy issues related to dust and possible molds. The neighborhood is very old, which is fine, but did not feel safe for my wife and our guests. Dragging luggage up to the top floor on uneven and wobbly steps didn't inspire confidence. We reached to the host with our concerns and were basically blown off. I am a host and own several of my own properties and was willing to negotiate an equitable settlement as we could not stay in an unsafe environment and one that was causing an allergic reaction. I still have not gotten a response so do not recommend this host for anyone. The place could be great with a little TLC and better instructions.

Very comfortable apartment in the Alfama -- conveniently located close to Santa Apolonia train/metro station. There are several restaurants close to the apartment. Guests need to be comfortable walking up several flights of stairs..there is a light switch just inside the entry door for the stairwell

Very spacious, on two levels, with a nice balcony on the upper level. Near the train station and large grocery store. Only downfall are the three flights of tricky stairs and the sloped ceilings in the loft, especially the shower.

We loved our stay here. Really nice and spacious living area and a well equipped modern kitchen. The outside area has an incredible vista if an impressive 17th century church that is lit up at night. The local area has a vast array of bars, cafes and restaurants. We hope to be able to visit again soon.

We spent 5 days at the apartment in Lisbon. It was a good location not to far walk from the downtown busy core. Lots of little shops and restaurant's once you go down the street. It was very clean and comfortable for the 6 of us. We kept the air conditioner on most of the time we were there becasue there was only one unit on the top hallway. It kept the apartment cool. My husband and I stayes on the top floor which is like a loft. Very cute apartment.

Great location! Lots of things to see and do. Alfama is a busy spot but this home is located in a quiet area. It has easy access to the airport and train station as well. Hosts are attentive and helpful.

The apartment was clean and in a good area to start shopping and eating. The property mgr. responded within an hour. But, we had no a/c as the unit would drip water from to steps, it was fixed the day before we left. More importantly , there were ants in 1 BR my gr. kids got bit and ? other biting insects. I messaged property owner about problem,said sorry. Upon leaving she stated I hope you enjoyed your time with us. Well,I was somewhat disappointed . Recommend Expedia check out .
