The location was close to where I was working
The room was not properly cleaned before hand. The toilet had been used but cleaning staff left it so I had to get rid of the number 2 💩 with 3 flushes. Not impressed.

The room was absolutely filthy , only seeing how truly disgusting in the light of day . Dirty bathroom , random pubic hair , grime . Absolute hovel . The staff at breakfast, we had ordered a room call for 9am and the woman barked at us that she called us twice as we got to breakfast at 915am. The phone in the room was dead so that’s why we didn’t get a call . The breakfast was THE WORST I’ve ever had . I asked for well done FRIED eggs. These were done in an oven and I could barely saw into the leather like skin that encased those obliterated yolks . The continental selection was pathetic and stale . Partner had the full English and his egg was snotty and he would truly eat anything but even he couldn’t manage it .
We get back to the room opened the curtains and truly saw how disgustingly filthy this place was . The headboard has more dna on it than a crime scene including what looked like blood splatters and Lord only knows what else . The rest of the room was awful too , filthy. Never slept in a bed so uncomfortable either . I really couldn’t wait to come home and de-flea myself.
Environmental health need to seriously check this place . It’s dirty , it’s damp , the bathroom has a big damp patch on the floor so it has a constant smell of mildew . The walls they have painted over damp so it’s all bubbled . It’s truly disgusting . Whole room was a shambles . Should be renamed the worst western definitely .
Retrain your staff because if a chef hates their job that much that they oven cook a fried egg then that’s a major issue ( and it wasn’t busy either , can now
see why) the woman who greeted us for breakfast was rude . The phone didn’t work. We expected a call and nothing . Hence the lateness . Asked where my toast was was told to make it myself and pointed , new table come in and there’s was served to them . So she definitely was rude for something that wasn’t our doing.
Everything needs improving . The absolute lack of cleanliness is beyond comprehension and I’ve stayed in a hostel . This is by far the WORST place I’ve ever had the misfortune of staying . Avoid at all costs

Location, friendly and helpful staff, very good breakfast. The room and shower room were both clean.
The room was very small, and the old sash window let in a cold draught. The soiled pair of socks under the wardrobe were a surprise. Perhaps the housekeeper should carry out a proper check in future.

Honestly apart from one lady
Member of staff and the location would never stay here again would rather sleep in my car at least it would be clean
The rooms are tired but do you know I could live with this but not to have your room made up and when it is they just make the bed and do not empty the bins clean the bathroom just put the duvet back over I could do this myself and did the first night when they did not even do this.

Breakfast was very good, service on Saturday was a little chaotic due to staff shortage but those on duty worked extra hard. Our room was a king room, lovely big bed and sofa in the room, shower room a bit pokey and a lack of places to hang towels to dry, but nice and clean. Having a restaurant and bar on site made it easy to socialize with our group of friends. The roast chicken dinners were the best thing on the menu.
Steep stairs to first floor and lots of fire doors to get through with bags, the corridors and stairwells were a bit smelly, a sort of stale sweat smell although everything looked clean. Derelict building on the same site, parking at rear did not look secure. The access is right near a busy set of lights, so turning right out of the hotel is tricky.

A bit run down outside

Staff were friendly and helpful
Very basic accommodation, our room was in the eves so lots of stairs and not a lot of headroom

Very good location, only 20 mins walk to town centre

Our room smelt of body odour & looked as though someone had vomited on the carpet. So bad we were unable to stay there. We were offered another room but were put off by that stage.

Breakfast was good
We were in an attic room in the annexe. Extremely hot and noisy

Location and staff were superb
Room was extremely hot and the small fan didn’t help much. Not great for reception on TV and cold water tap must have had air in the system.

Location, cost, friendliness of staff.
Room 'tired' facilities bit random. No soap but 2 conditioners for example. 2 identical cooked breakfasts but one very overdone other ok

Breakfast was poor. Asked for 2 poached eggs on toast with beans and got 1 slice of thin cheap bread toasted and the poached eggs were hardboiled no runny centre. The continental selection was small and looked cheap.
Everything. Hotel was tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. Stains on the carpet, old marked paint on the walls. The shower looked like it had been installed in the 1980's. Thin old pillows and a basic mattress and a cheap old wardrobe. I used to have a positive attitude towards the Best Western brand... Not any more!! Next time I'm in Newark it'll be the premier Inn for me.

Absolutely nothing
Dirty... with a load noise sounding like a hoover at 4am

We booked a king size room and it didn't disappoint. The bed was massive and the room had plenty of space. The shower was on a smaller size. Compare to my daughter who had a double room and a massive bathroom. There is coffee and tea facility in the room which is great. Overall had a great night sleep.
We had to wait quite a long time for breakfast to be served. There is no iron in the bedroom and you had to go to a different building to use the only ironing board and iron. The ironing board definitely needs replacing.

Room was tired-bed linen clean but old -beds creaking. Room had a smell. Shower needed up dating .

Very good breakfast. We were in an adjacent annexe that had been an old house, V good decorative order, and quiet too, despite proximity of a main road. Good bar.
The hotel suffers from its urbanized location, but does a good job within this framework. Car park is a bit of a mess, but spacious. Public rooms have seen better days, other than the refurbished bar.

Cheeseburger at dinner was almost inedible. Leaking shower. Knobs falling off furniture.

Staff were lovely. Breakfast was nice and good value.
The room was very dated. The beds were rock hard and we couldn't actually sleep.
There was a banging noise on both nights, particularly one night. It was very windy and possibly a fire exit door slamming all night.
3.5 / 5.0
Good selection of breakfast produce, Continental buffet and Full English served quickly by pleasant staff.
Everything was as expected for this type of hotel. The rooms are a bit tired and could do with a freshen up.
