I found this incredible apartment in Spello at the last minute and had booked it because of the glowing reviews. I'm so happy to add another one to the list.
After a horrific travel day, which was scheduled to be late at night to begin with, I ended up not arriving in Spello until almost 1:30 in the morning. I was stressed (to say the least) and Roberto assured me that he would be available to meet for check in no matter what. As my arrival kept getting later, this sweet man told me to take my time and continued to wait. When I met him, he could not have been more kind, showing me everything I needed to know in the apartment.
Roberto continued to check in with me throughout my stay and made me feel so welcome in Spello.
The apartment is so unique and the pictures don't do it justice. I spent half of my 3 nights there sitting out on the massive patio looking at the stars. It's pure heaven. Inside, there's a perfectly equipped kitchen, cozy bed, and the overall ambiance of the space makes you feel like you've stepped back in time.
I came by car and was able to park in a lot that is just about a 3 minute walk from the apartment. Spello itself is stunning and the people are lovely. It's hard not to fall in love with this adorable village.
I HIGHLY recommend staying in Roberto's apartment if you make a trip to Spello (which I also recommend!). I can't wait to return and I can only hope this apartment will be available when I do.

Gem of an apartment!
This apartment is fabulous, full of charm and character and a pleasure to holiday in! The views are stunning from the private patio, and it’s just a short walk from the village centre. Reasonably well equipped, though the oven was not working, there was a hob and microwave.
The bathroom is tiny with 2 very deep steps up to it, useful to know if anyone has mobility issues. My husband managed but it was not easy.
The railway station and supermarket are about a 15 minute walk away, downhill going, uphill coming back!
Roberto, the owner was great, he picked us up from the station and took us back at the end of the stay. If we return to Spello we will definitely stay in this gem of an apartment again! Loved it!

Great apartment in a lovely location
It’s comfortable and fully equipped and the view from the terrace is breathtaking. We love it. Spello is a god central location for Umbria but it’s not a foodies paradise - but then we like to cook for ourselves and the terrace is a wonderful shady place to eat in the evening.

Wonderful location. Fantastic courtyard to enjoy a drink in the afternoon. The owner Roberto was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He picked me up and dropped me back at the station. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Roberto was a very kind and thoughtful host. His place is far better than the pictures show. The ceiling is magical and it is enormous by any country’s standards. It took us a while to figure out the clothes washer but my husband did and we were able to wash all our clothes. The apartment is in a perfect location and the balcony is enormous with a sweeping view of the Umbrian countryside. The only negatives are minor and certainly wouldn’t deter me from booking again. The bathroom is about the size of an airplane bathroom and has two very steep and narrow steps to get into it. If you have any mobility issues, this might not work for you. Or if you are very tall or large, you will be very uncomfortable in the bathroom and shower. The other is the bed and pillows aren’t the most comfortable but I’ve certainly slept in worse.
All that being said, you will be thrilled by Roberto’s place. It is charming and spacious (except the bathroom lol) and magical!

Living like an Italian
was a "dream" vacation I had thought about for 3 years and finally got to do it at this wonderful studio apartment. The location was perfect, a 2 minute walk to the town square that we enjoyed every day and evening, just absorbing everyday Italian life. The fully equipped apartment had everything you could need to enjoy your stay and we had several breakfast and lunch meals there, plus of course our evening wine on the large patio overlooking the countryside. Having a washing machine was a big plus too. The apartment is right in the middle of town but there is no noise to distract you. There were multiple small family owned/operated restaurants with delicious meals and we always ordered house wines with never a disappointment. Small shops, art galleries, beautiful scenery, winding alleyways leading to new sites, and flowers everywhere. What a wonderful place! Would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to live Italian!
This was my first experience with VRBO and I was a bit hesitant to book. Roberto was an outstanding host, answering my emails promptly with great information and full explanations to my questions. He is a real gentleman.

Wonderful apartment with amazons views!
Perfect location in Spello, central but so quiet and peaceful. Very well equipped with everything you need. Roberto is the perfect host. Wonderful view from windows and terrace. The terrace is so nice in the afternoons. This apartment was spotlessly clean. I would certainly recommend this apartment . Spello is a lovely Italian town surrounded by stunning countryside.

Comfortable, Convenient, Relaxing
We rented for two weeks and enjoyed our stay in Spello. The apartment was well equipped for our needs and is centrally located in wall of the old town. Although we had a car for trips to Civita di Bagnoregio, Assisi, Montefalco and Norcia, we could conveniently walk to meet our needs for food, wine, and fresh air. Hiking to Collepino and the summit of Monte Subasio gave us great panoramic views of Umbria. Most back road walks from Spello took us past the olive groves from which the olives were being harvested when we were there in early November. Spello also revealed two of it's gems, Villa dei Mosaici di Spello and the Spello-Collepino Roman Aqueduct Trail. The best part of the apartment is its patio from which we could sit and enjoy the valley and mountain view along with some caciotta cheese, cinghiale salami, and a bottle of local wine after a day of exploring. Roberto, our host, is a gem. He seemed to appear out of nowhere just when we needed some help. This was our second stay and we will be back. We highly recommend this property

Spectacular in Every Way!
The delightful home is very well equipped with everything you need. Charm abounds. The terrace has incredible views and is a perfect setting for cocktails! Roberto explained everything and made us feel very welcome. Spello is wonderful as well. Delightful town with flowers and shops. Thank you Roberto!! We hope to return!

Quaint in Umbria
We were looking for an apartment within a walled city in Umbria and we are so glad we decided to stay with Roberto. It had everything we needed; enough space, laundry, kitchen facilities, a great patio and a central location where we could make day trips throughout the area.
All the appliances and amenities are provided, shopping is nearby and the location within Spello is great.
I would highly recommend this apartment and I would stay here again.

charm and character
We were thrilled with this apartment. The photos are lovely, but they can not convey the delightful ambiance of this vacation rental.....inside are the incredible brick vaulted ceilings.....the views from the window and terrace overlooking the valley are marvelous....and the tiled patio is a wonderful place for morning coffee or wine in the evening. Spello also exceeded our expectations - wonderful restaurants....flowers absolutely everywhere...friendly people....and Roberto is the perfect host! We hope to return to Spello, and we will rent this apartment again, for sure.

Charming and beautiful.

What a lovely apartment - beautiful to look at and equipped with everything you could want.
We spent a week enjoying Roberto’s apartment. It was very comfortable and the outdoor patio with stunning views over the countryside was an added plus. Spello was very pretty with lots of choice of restaurants and it was an easy drive to get to all the pretty hill towns and Lake Trasimeno. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment for two people.

Medieval Apartment in Spello
We are Canadian travellers who spent a week at Roberto's apartment in Spello. This property exceeded our expectations and we quickly felt right at home. The curved brick ceilings of the dwelling and unique location being built into the town wall all added to the charm.
Roberto was a very gracious host and very welcoming and always willing to assist us with local enquiries and tourist information. He was most helpful with train schedules and arrangements from Spello to Rome.
A very well equipped, spotless apartment including a large terrace with amazing views of the countryside. We would recommend fellow travellers to stay in Spello and do day trips to the neighbouring towns such as Assisi and Gubbio. Spello allows you to enjoy the local town folk and wander through the town square and streets. There are a number of local artisans shops and the staff are very informative. An excellent walk is along the Roman Aqueduct which is easily accessible from the town.
We hope to return to Spello in the future and stay in Roberto's apartment.

Beautiful stay in Umbria
This apartment is in the medieval hilltown of Spello. It is centrally located to see Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Spoleto, Gubbio, Trevi, and numerous other towns in Umbria. The apartment is on the first floor of a house built into the town wall. There is a large enclosed terrace with a table and umbrella and views of the countryside. Parking is just below, you can see your car from the apartment. The apartment has all modern amenities. We stayed with our 10 month old baby and Roberto provided us with a baby cot and high chair. A two minute walk up stairs is the town piazza with a bank and shops for food and drink. There are many restaurants in the town. I would absolutely recommmend this apartment for sightseeing in Umbria. Lovely hospitality!
