Super property in lovely location.

My wife and I recently stayed at this charming property and it was a delightful experience.
The design of the property is very appealing. It was nice having stairs leading down from the main bedroom to the terrace for our coffee in the mornings. The traditional tile flooring and exposed beams add to the charm and character of the house. The kitchen is well-equipped—everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and convenient.
We thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the terrace and in the lovely garden, surrounded by beautiful plants and vibrant colours—so peaceful and relaxing. The house stays cool even during the scorching heat—after a long day of exploring the beautiful surroundings, it was a relief to step into a refreshingly cool space.
In the house there is lots of useful information about the area.
Saignon itself is a special village—full of picturesque charm and a friendly atmosphere. There’s a bakery and several places to eat. Its proximity to other pretty villages and beautiful scenery makes it a great base for exploration. Take a drive through the Monts de Vaucluse—the landscape is quite spectacular! The local markets are also fun, with their stalls filled with fresh produce, crafts and local delicacies.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Odile and Emmanuel for being such gracious and welcoming hosts, we felt like valued guests throughout. We highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a peaceful and authentic getaway in the heart of Provence

A wonderful stay in this beautiful house and Odile was very kind and helpful before and during our stay. The house is located in the stunning village of Saignon, we enjoyed having a drink in the picturesque square and also breakfast and lunch at Christine's Cafe. It's also perfectly located to visit other villages, we went to Roussillon, Gordes, Bonnieux and Loumarin. Of course a lot of time was spent on the glorious terrace too.. Thank you again Odile!

An amazing place to stay.
A beautiful house in an equally beautiful village. So many lovely touches by our host Odile. She was so helpful and contact before and throughout our stay was great.
The pictures of the property, although great, don’t do it justice. So much character throughout and everything was there that we could have needed.
Saignon is a gem of a village and we were able to immerse ourselves during our 4 week stay.
Breakfast and dinner on the terrace and lunch in the cool shaded undercroft below was such a bonus.
We wouldn’t hesitate recommending Odile’s house to any of our friends or potential guests.
I could go on with all the positives, the access to Apt and being so close to so many other places to visit, none more than 45 minutes away.
Finally a thank you to Odile for the useful information booklet with great recommendations of places to visit.

Sfeervol huis in prachtig dorp

Sympaisches Dorf, traumhafter Ort

A great place in a beautiful part of France
The location of this gite in Saignon was perfect, with a truly beautiful view down the valley of lavender fields and mountains beyond, at all times of the day. The property was well equipped and comfortable with good size rooms. Odile was very welcoming and informative. Saignon is a pretty hill top village with many facilities despite being a small village. We will return to explore the beautiful Uberon again and would recommend a stay at this gite to anyone. Thanks Odile.

wunderschöner Urlaub in Saignon

Nice house in a classic Provencal village.
My wife and I enjoyed two weeks in Saignon. The house was perfect for us and we appreciated the updated bathrooms and well equipped kitchen with it's mix of modern and vintage equipment. The location was perfect and the outside patio that is featured in the photo was a delight. The village is now on our favorites list.

Beautiful house with lots of charm in stunning village away from it all
We loved our stay here. Odile, the owner, could not have been nicer and the house was full of personal touches to make you feel instantly at ease. The location is perfect get the peacefulness and feeling of being away from it all, whilst having a number of the Luberon’s most beautiful towns and colourful markets nearby. A little gem...

Great provencial house in a beautiful location
Our host Odile was very friendly and extremely accommodating. Her knowledge of the area was plentiful and very useful. Saignon is a very beautiful village, which we immediately fell in love with. A great place to explore Provence and would definitely return to, given the chance. The house was very typical of the area and had been tastefully upgraded, keeping as many original features as possible. It had everything we needed and much more. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to others

Nezapomenutelné a romantické
Dům nás překvapil svou prostorností a členitostí. Ložnice jsou krásně světlé a obě sociální zařízení prostorná a vše bezvadně čisté.

Lovely views, comfortable home, quaint and quiet town
We were three women on a painting holiday. We spent three wonderful weeks in this lovely Saignon home.
What you need to know:
Odile is friendly and helpful. She met us at the house.
The house is a little tricky to find – on a tiny narrow street. It looks like nothing from the street side. Open up the door and you are greeted with a panoramic view over the valley below. You enjoy this superb hillside-perch vista from the living room, kitchen, and deck, and upstairs from two of the three bedrooms. If you are lucky, the lavender will be in bloom. We were there mid-June and were treated to the lavender’s gradual purpling.
The beds are comfortable with good quality cotton sheets, and down duvets. The master bedroom (queen bed) has a door that opens onto a tiny patio and stairs down to the main deck. The second bedroom has two single beds and a view window. The third room has a single bed and window opening onto the street. There are two bathrooms – one with a shower (downstairs) and the other with a huge comfortable bathtub (upstairs).
The house is quiet, except for the frogs and the odd rooster!
Saignon is a jewel of a tiny town. Not yet too touristy. We enjoyed pastries and coffee at Chez Christine, which is also a restaurant and sells a few grocery items – milk, wine, tapenade… There are several restaurants in town. We enjoyed a superb 3-course dinner at Le Petit Bouchon.
Climb the stairs to the top of Le Rocher at sunset and enjoy a 360-degree vista! Breathtaking!
Saignon is 5 minutes by car from Apt. Check out the extensive Saturday market there. Apt also has several large grocery stores. When bringing groceries home, you can drive right to the house, unload, then park just a short distance up the street.
Saignon is just a short drive from many other lovely towns. Lourmarin, Bonnieux, LaCoste and Menerbes are ½ hour South West. Roussillon (20 minutes) and Gordes (½ hour) are to the North West. Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is 40 minutes due East. It is famous for its Sunday market and antiques. There are many other tiny towns to explore. Viens, Curcuron..too many to list! All beautiful in their own way. Be sure to take a camera or sketchbook!
We also ventured further away to visit Aix (S. 50 minutes), St-Tropez 2 ½ - 3 hours (S.E) and Cassis and the Calanques (1 ½ hours S.) Pont-du-Gard is about 1 ½ hours East.
After our excursions, short or long, we were always happy to return to our comfortable, quiet hillside home to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck

This is a lovely, spacious, traditional French village house with a superb view from the balcony. Evenings were spent watching the sunset over the hills while eating around the large table. We travelled with our 3 adult children, who appreciated the space to play ping pong and generally hang out in the overhang space under the balcony. The garden is reached by a metal spiral staircase from the balcony.
We were welcomed very warmly by Odile, who was also extremely helpful and friendly during the booking process in answering our questions and sending further photos.
The village is idyllic, with several lunchtime-only restaurants and one open in the evenings (no shop except the bakery/café). The Place de la Fontaine is unbelievably romantic, and was on our route for the 5 minute walk from the car park to the house (no parking at the house, though a smaller car than ours could possibly have been left further down the neighbouring street).
The village is calm, though there is some traffic noise while sitting on the balcony from the D road below the village.
There is a wealth of activities in the area, from ochre quarries and an observatory to visit, to lovely walks in the hills (though as we were staying during a heatwave, walking wasn't that popular!). A drive of a couple of hours will take you to the Mediterranean beaches. A lovely holiday destination.

Our family of five spent 5 wonderful weeks in Odile's home. The house is beautiful, very well appointed and has everything one could ask for on a prolonged holiday. The kitchen is well equipped and enabled us to easily prepare meals. The house is quite spacious and were were able to accommodate visiting family and friends. The stone walls and window shutters provided some welcomed respite from the hot July temperatures while the terrace, overlooking Apt and lavender fields provided us with countless hours of enjoyment. The kids had a blast playing in the garden, setting up some snail races, and playing ping pong under the covered patio.
When we arrived on a Sunday evening, much later than originally anticipated, Odile diligently took us though the house despite being late for a family dinner. She provided us with detailed instructions for all appliances and equipment, supplied books, games, movies, guide books, maps etc. and made herself available for whatever inquiry we might have during our stay.
Odile makes sure that her guests feel right at home. The cupboards were stocked with staples to tie us over – coffee, sugar, rice, pasta…, she had picked fresh herbs from the garden, and offered us a lovely welcome gift – delicious fig jam. Needless to say, we felt very welcomed and right at home in no time!
Saignon is a beautiful, quiet medieval village overseeing Apt. Our kids, aged 12, 9 and 6 made their way daily to ‘Chez Christine’ to pick up our breakfast baguette and croissants. We had very pleasant meals at “La Maison de Solveig” and at the food truck "le restaurant ephemere du Chalet des Saveurs" that sets up shop on the Place des amandiers after July 1. Some of the village’s summer festivities that should not be missed - La Fête de la Musique (Jule 21) and the Paella night which gathers the whole village and sells out fast!
The town of Apt, only a 5-minute drive away, has all the shops one could wish for and its Saturday market is one of the best ones in Provence. Overall, Saignon makes a great base from which to explore the region, and a stay at Odile’s house is sure to make a visit to Provence an unforgettable experience!

A comfortable home in a magical setting
We spent three weeks in France this summer, and our week in the charming town of Saignon was our favorite. This small town is tucked into a hillside overlooking lavender fields and the larger town of Apt. It is truly magical. Saigon is smaller than the other Luberon hill towns and has few tourists, even in July when we were there. We found this to be a perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. There are a few restaurants in the town, and a bakery (Chez Christine) where we enjoyed our coffee and her amazing pastries each morning. The people in the town were very warm and welcoming.
The house is very comfortable. Our two daughters, ages 9 and 12, felt immediately at home here. They enjoy exploring the small garden area in the back of the house, finding snails and frogs and watering the herbs and plants in the garden. The terrace at the back of the house overlooks lavender fields and the hillside leading down to the town of Apt. Each evening, we sat on the deck to watch the sunset. The lavender was in bloom when we were there. The field is so close to the house, that you can smell the lavender from the terrace. We felt instantly relaxed upon arriving from Paris, and will miss that gorgeous view!
We are so grateful to the owner of this home. She was so warm, kind, helpful and welcoming to us. We were stuck in a lot of traffic on our drive to Saignon, and were quite delayed in our arrival. She waited for us for hours and was so generous and accommodating to us, reassuring us, along the way. She carefully went over all of the details in the house when we arrived, even though it was 10pm by the time we arrived. She was very communicative to us throughout the entire process. She is truly wonderful!
We will miss this special place and hope to return someday! Thank you Odile!

The photos do not do justice to this jewel of a house, set into the exterior of the hilltop village of Saignon, with a wide view of a most beautiful valley. We were fortunate to arrive at the peak of flowering season for many plants, and were daily charmed by the lavender fields down in the valley below. Sheep were herded up the sleepy road past the lavender, and the acacia in bloom buzzed with bees. We loved sitting with our glass of wine or coffee out on the balcony, both morning and evening--at night there was a chorus of frogs from the valley! The house itself has been very tastefully renovated and modernized with a view to making the most of the character of the old building yet with complete comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed the village too, which has a new (American-owned) café dedicated to setting forth the best of the French countryside and fresh ingredients, as well as two great traditional French restaurants. (All of these are tiny, so getting a reservation ahead is recommended.)Odile, the owner of the house, was very helpful and anxious to make sure we had a good experience. We are a retired couple, our daughter and son-in-law and their 8 month baby, and we were perfectly comfortable. We had a wonderful time! The only slight problem was getting the stove to light--turned out there was a safety feature we didn't know about! (although I hasten to say it was explained in the binder Odile had prepared for her renters, and we had just been in a hurry to get going. :) Because the village is so small, you will need to ask for the house when you arrive, as there are no house numbers, but this was easy to do and everyone was helpful. I really recommend this property and definitely plan on staying here again in the future. (A word of caution: There is a lovely and inviting spiral staircase outside from the balcony to the garden, so I'm not sure I would recommend this property to anyone with toddlers, unless you were super careful.)

(A word of caution: There is a lovely and inviting spiral staircase outside from the balcony to the garden, so I'm not sure I would recommend this property to anyone with toddlers, unless you were super careful.)

Excellent stay in Saignon!
We loved staying at this house in Saignon. The house itself has been lovingly restored and includes all the amenities to make one's stay as comfortable as possible. The bed was comfortable, inviting living room, well appointed kitchen, etc but the terrace was where we spent as much time as possible (when we weren't sightseeing elsewhere) because of the stunning views of the valley with its sunflower and lavender fields. The owner was very accommodating throughout the entire rental process and welcomed us personally when we arrived. The village, with its huge rocky promontory, old church and graveyard and medieval streets, is very scenic and has a handful of shops to attract visitors during the day but is not overrun with tourists, making it quiet and restful. Saignon is close to Apt where we could shop for provisions at the butcher, cheese shop, bakery and larger stores as needed. It is within an 1 1/2 hours drive to Avignon, Arles, Cassis (beach at Mediterranean), etc and within 20-40 min drive to other hilltop villages like Roussillon, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Gordes, etc. Great little bakery in town and a small organic market on Thursday. The region's fruits and vegetables, olives, wine, cheese, etc are fantastic. We would highly recommend this house. It is spacious and can accommodate a family with children but is equally suitable for a couple (if you travel with another adults, only one room has a double bed but the two singles in one of the other rooms could be pushed together in a pinch). Also, you do need to rent a car to get the most out of travel in this region.
