About this villa rental
CLOSE TO 6 UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES - Siena, San Gimignano, Val d'Orcia &Pienza, Florence and Pisa, inside the first certified CO2 “zero emission” province in Europe!
This fabulous home is nestled in the heart of the wonderful Chianti Classico wine hills, between Siena (20 minutes) and Florence (45 minutes). Set in a large private estate with its lawns, an olive grove and forest (377,000 square feet/almost 9 acres/3.5 hectares), villa I Quercioli is perched at 1800 feet/550 meters above sea level and enjoys a mountain top view of the horizon. The exceptionally beautiful ample valley below the villa extends from Siena to San Gimignano and its green hills stretch away as far as the eye can see, encompassing vineyards, cultivated fields, woods and hilltop medieval villages.
The panoramic saline swimming pool - when compared to chlorine systems, water quality in a salt pool is superior in feel, smell and taste - dominates all such valley and is open from May to September, heated upon request at an extra cost, see house rules.
The villa sports the outside appearance of a rural home, while its inside architecture is modern and elegant. I Quercioli has 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and 1 single bedroom, and sleeps 9 adults comfortably, +2 toddlers.
If you dream of spectacular sunsets while sipping a glass of wine near the pool after a day of sightseeing, this is your place.

LOCATION DETAILS
The best itineraries are provided to fully enjoy and appreciate the Province of Siena, the first administrative system in Europe to certify the total abatement of polluting gases gross emissions.
Villa i Quercioli is located 6,2 mi. (10 km) from Castellina in Chianti and 12 mi. (20 km) from Siena.
The nearest grocery is in Vagliagli (where there also is an excellent restaurant where “Letters to Juliet” was filmed), half a mile (1.7 km) away, while Castellina, 15 minutes/6 miles away, is well-provided with cafes, restaurants and excellent stores selling some of the best local products: great wine, fresh pasta and cheeses, a first-rate butcher, excellent ice cream and bakeries (though door-to door freshly baked bread delivery is available upon request) – plus a chemist’s, a petrol station, banks, a post office, and an assortment of small shops highlighting local artisans. Quercegrossa, 3.5 mi. (5.6 km) also has a small supermarket.
Rural Tuscany’s best bits – scenic landscapes, farm-to-table products, renown wineries and picturesque hill towns – make this lovely home a perfect country retreat from which to explore many wonderful destinations: Castellina in Chianti 6, 2 mi. (10 km) Radda 7 mi. (11 km) Panzano 13 mi. (22 km), Monteriggioni 13 mi. (22 km), Badia a Passignano 17 mi. (28 km), Colle val d'Elsa 20 mi. ( 32 km), San Gimignano 28 mi. (45km), Florence 31 mi. (50 km), Volterra 36 mi. (58 km), Pisa 68 mi. ( 110 km), Lucca 75 mi. ( 120 km), the scenic Val d’Orcia : Montalcino 34 mi. (55 km), Pienza 49 mi. (80 km), Cortona 52 mi. (84 km) and of course Siena.
The area of Vagliagli features first-rate restaurants (more in Siena, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano and Florence being also worth the trip) as well as really great wineries, where it is possible to visit to the cellars for fabulous wine tastings.
It is also ideal for walks, bikes and horse-rides (a riding school is a stone's throw away) on the preserved dirt/” white” roads through the breath-taking countryside.
In the summer you can listen to classical music concerts in Siena and its surroundings organized by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, an international conservatory. The Palio di Siena, a horse race preceded by a pageant in medieval costumes, the Corteo Storico, attracts visitors and spectators from around the world. It is held on July 2 and August 16, and circles the scenic Piazza del Campo for no more than 90 seconds: ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in medieval outfits, represent ten of the seventeen contrade, or city wards. Attendance is free for viewers standing in the middle of Piazza del Campo (but children must be older than 10!), while seats ranging from simple bleachers to box seats may be had for a price, but sell out long before the day of the race. We shall be glad to provide assistance.
EXTERIORS
A cypresses-lined driveway leads to the property, where areas of lawn shaded by large oaks, strawberry trees, junipers, and cypresses are combined with lavender, rosemary and rose bushes, and paved brick spaces.
A scenic salt water heated pool (15 x 44 feet /4.5 x 13.5 meters) is set on an embankment a few steps down from the living room. The chlorine produced by this electrolytic process is less harsh than the traditional “tri-chlor” pools’ one. It is purer and therefore healthier, does not have a bleach smell, plus is very gentle to skin, hair and swim suits. The water has a softer feel. There is an outdoor rock floor open shower on the pool’s edge, to rinse off before and after swimming, with warm groundwater (non-potable, unlike the indoor tap one).
A fence + 2 self-latching gates prevents use of the pool to unaccompanied children.
A shaded veranda is equipped for outdoor meals next to a patio with a shaded living room. A second meal space on the opposite side, with a porch for al fresco dining has a striking table for 16 with a gigantic olive tree root as its base, and a long table seating 8 persons shaded by an adjacent pergola covered by American vines, where a large hammock is suspended for a relaxing afternoon.
There’s outdoor table tennis, a foosball and a kids’ hut and a small playground with a slide and swings, a few steps down in the olive grove – where excellent olive oil is produced.
INTERIORS
The villa has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard with a brand new kitchen and appliances, air conditioning in every bedroom and lavish fabrics. Large windows flood the rooms with light. The entrance door leads to an open space with beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. The living room and dining room with adjacent kitchen are on slightly split-levels. There is a half-bath near the entrance.

This house and grounds surpassed our expectations. The pool was such an added bonus for all. The views from this property were exceptional!! We watched the sunset every evening with such delight. We were all comfortable everywhere in the house. We just provided some food and beverages We had everything we needed. Gaia and her husband Mauricio were the most welcoming hosts. We loved our family time together in Tuscany!!

A good friend was looking to celebrate her 60th birthday. When asked where her dream destination would be, she immediately said Tuscany. Our party of eight wanted a pool and rooms and bathrooms for each couple. This was a tall order. I was so excited to find this beautiful villa that had not only our must-haves, but so much more. The views are absolutely stunning, the outside eating areas are comfortable and situated throughout the property. Lastly, Gaia, our contact for the property was attentive, patient and incredibly kind. I cannot count the number of times someone remarked at how perfect the villa was. The next time anyone in our group is looking to visit this beautiful area, we will be looking into renting this property again.

House was great and so were the hosts.
Called a few times for questions or dinner ideas, made reservations for us and just great all around.
Will highly recommend to friends

Our group of 6 adults stayed at this beautiful property May 2024. If you're comfortable being in a Tuscany location that isn't walkable to restaurants or other services, stay here! You will need a car to visit some of the amazing towns in the vicinity.
The host and her daughter provided excellent communication before, during and after our stay. We paid for the pool heating and spent one full day enjoying the house and surrounding area. We made use of Pietro and his team for a dine-in chef experience...delicious food and wine, great to be taken care of. We also hired Roberto Bechi (Tours by Roberto) for a customized full day wine tour and highly recommend that you make use of his services. Excellent knowledge of wine and the area along with a lively personality.

The only problem was we had to leave. Wish I could live there.

Beyond expectations. The villa is beautifully appointed with magnificent views. Gaia was a wonderful, responsive host. Talking to her was like being with family. Dinner at the villa with Maurizio was a highlight of the trip and the best meal we had in Tuscany.

We stayed here for a week with three other couples. Each of us enjoyed our own bedroom with designated bathroom. This villa is priceless. The owner has maintained the friendly and comfortable vibe of a home. There are books, art, gorgeous memorabilia around the home plus the inviting pool and Tuscan panoramas. Although it is in a rural setting, it is easy to reach Siena and medieval hill towns close by. Gaia and her husband are excellent hosts and we could not have asked for more. We want to thank the owners for allowing us to share their gorgeous home. It is a fantastic place to stay.

I must say that this house is impressive. Loved all of it. The decoration, the place, the view, the facilities, and the property owner couldn't be nicer! Thank you Gaia for your lovely welcome and great tips for our vacancies.
Best regards and hope to return for the olive picking.

We were a group of 8 female friends (ranging in age from mid 40’s to 60 years old), who’d rented the Villa to celebrate a couple of milestone birthdays; we were thrilled with our choice. The Villa is beautiful both inside and out: expansive grounds, stunning views, huge pool, spacious and airy interior, comfortable sleeping and living quarters, and several outdoor seating areas. There was also a delightful hammock. The Villa is in a quiet, secluded area but only a few minutes drive from the quaint village of Vagliagli (we recommend Ristorante Taverna di Vagliagli), and the larger village of Castellina in Chianti (where we rented fiats, at a very fair price, to explore nearby villages/towns/cities). We also thoroughly enjoyed spending a few days lounging around the pool and took advantage of the delivery service offered by Luigi, the local baker (who brought us cake/bread/croissants/pizza slices). Throughout our whole time there (and even before our arrival), Gaia, our host, was always available to answer our questions/offer suggestions/and help in any way she could. She was invaluable. For our last evening, we hired her husband (Maurizio) for a ‘Chef at Home’ experience. The 4 course meal he prepared for us was divine and was made even more special by some pre-dinner appetizers he served, along with a bottle of prosecco. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect send off to our 1-week stay. If you can snag a booking, do it!

Wow! The photos and reviews can’t possibly describe the beauty of this property. My husband, adult children and I enjoyed 4 nights and that wasn’t nearly enough. Ample space, a fantastic outdoor area and driving distance to many wonderful areas. Gaia gave so many amazing recommendations and was as thorough of a hostess as I’ve ever stayed with. We would love to return one day!

We were welcomed warmly into this beautiful home with unbelievable views.
Large rooms, comfortable beds, large, well stocked kitchen. There’s a beautiful pool in back and large patios on front and side of the house.
We received all kinds of tips on where to eat and what to see. We even enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal with our hosts. It could not have been better and we definitely hope to return to this beautiful villa in Chianti

My extended family and I just had a wonderful time at the villa! It is as tranquil and beautiful as the photos suggest. The house is very comfortable and the views/surroundings are unbelievable! Gaia was the perfect host, she was very responsive and helped us get settled and navigate the terrain. We enjoyed local wineries, thermal spas, restaurants, and of course Siena and Florence. A great trip!

House was a large unique architectural design with beautiful original paintings from the owner’s mother coupled with various wooden furniture pieces representing a classic period. In total a warm personal home.

Villa i Quercioli is centrally located in Toscana in the midst of vineyards and olive groves. Views are beautiful around the clock with Siena on the hill just across the valley. Well appointed and spacious kitchen. A number gathering spaces inside and outdoors. Well suited for extended families with lots of bedrooms, a heated pool and play areas. On site parking for a several cars (highly recommend) .
The property manager was extremely attentive and accommodating. She helped make our stay unforgettable.
We used the villa as a base camp for our extended stay in Tuscany.

This house is just beautiful and the view is breathtaking. We enjoyed the pool, the various terraces for outdoor dining, and the lovely, spacious indoor rooms. This villa is extremely well equipped and beautifully appointed. Gaia was extremely helpful and easily reachable. We could not have asked for anything more.

Our family of 9 stayed at this gorgeous villa for 10 days and it exceeded our hopes and expectations. Five out of five stars hardly seems adequate for the excellence of our experience. We had originally booked this vacation before the pandemic lock down and we are so glad we did not cancel our plans and went as soon as travel opened up again.
First, the house! It is spacious, beautiful, well-appointed with all the comforts and amenities of home, and so many ideal areas for us to to hang out, dine in or outside, rest, play, and admire the spectacular views of the Tuscan vista. It was a record heat wave during our stay and the ACs in every room and the pool saved us from the heat and cooling off at the end of an active day. One of our favourite things was to cook at home using the fresh local ingredients and we got to taste what it meant to live like true Italians. The location was perfectly nestled deep within the Tuscan hills and a close 15 minute drive to the nearest little town which had everything we needed including restaurants, banks, pharmacy, grocery, wine & cheese shops and even a bit of shopping. It is an easy drive to nearby towns and cities including Florence, Siena, Montalcino, San Gimignano, Montereggioni to name a few… and we visited all of them!
Also, the hosts! Gaia was unbelievable in her communications and helped us to plan and book for the most memorable experiences. Her attention to detail and all her recommendations for restaurants and activities, tips and suggestions were invaluable. It was as if we had a close local friend with deep knowledge and contacts to rely on for the inside track. We had her husband Maurizio, a professional Chef and his son Pietro cater an in-home dinner for us one night on the terrace and it was a magical evening with wonderful food and warm hospitality that every one of us will cherish. The kindness we received from Gaia and her family during our stay left us with deep appreciation and fondness which makes us happy to have the perfect place to come back to as our ‘home’ in Italy.
Thank you and warmest regards from the Revells and Millars…until next time!

We were a family of 10. The beautiful villa met all our needs. Beautiful views, lovely pool, comfortable bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, great kitchen and utility room. The sitting room was a lovely scenic space.
Gaia our host was incredibly helpful from restaurant recommendations to booking taxis. Nothing was too much bother.
We all loved it so much we will return!

Dream house fit for movie stars
The home and grounds are more magnificent than what can be shown in photos. The house was large, clean, amazing wide view of Tuscany countryside. Fantastic pool which was exactly what you wanted after a day of touring. Kitchen large and well equipped. Loved all the outside places to eat drink and socialize. It is remote but we fell in love with the town of Castellina in Chianti. Wonderful shops and great places to eat or just stroll with your gelato. The residence was our base to tour all over Tuscany. It was a fabulous place to escape into a dreamland. Gaia was wonderful and even the air conditioning went out one night and was promptly fixed early the next morning . Thankfully the nights were comfortable temperatures. You will need a rental car and good gps. Loved all the paintings and antiques in the house. We actually bought three pieces since we wanted something very personal from our romantic vacation in Tuscany. Check in was overwhelming with so much to follow. We did the best we could. You will love this villa!

Wonderful Stay in Tuscany!
We started planning our trip to stay in this beautiful villa in July 2019. Due to the pandemic, we were forced to put off our trips in 2020 and 2021. Laura and Gaia were very flexible and understanding with this and kindly allowed us to reserve for May 2022. Their incredible villa and our experience in Tuscany were everything we had hoped for. Laura, Gaia, Maurizio, and Emilio went ABOVE and BEYOND in every way from helping with recommendations and reservations to preparing a welcoming, beautiful home with everything we could have wanted and more. The views were spectacular, the pool was amazing, and we spent the week surrounded by Laura’s gorgeous artwork.
Besides wonderful dinners at the villa, we visited several towns in the area, hiked, biked, enjoyed wine tastings, dined at fabulous restaurants, and learned so much about the art and history of Tuscany. I can’t imagine a better week in this beautiful place. It was truly a dream come true and we will be forever grateful for the warmth, kindness, communication, flexibility, hospitality, and helpfulness of Laura, Gaia, and family.

Wonderful trip in spring time colors
We all arrived middle of May to a wonderful villa in the hills of Tuscany. Family of seven for 12 amazing days. We didn’t want to miss any of Laura’s and Gaia recommendations but after spending a day by the pool, happy hour and cooking Forentino steaks on the outdoor grill we all knew that our schedule would include a couple more lazy days. The house and guidance of Gaia didn’t not let us down once. We’re very fortunate to travel and enjoy this lifestyle so being a critic I can honestly say one of our best stays. We hope to come back to do it all again.
Bedrooms, living rooms, kitchen, and pool all lived up to past guests reviews.
A wonderful time of year to visit Italy.

It Does Not Get Better Than This!
We have never had a better VRBO experience. This lovely home overlooks a wide vista of lush Tuscany countryside. Fully equipped and comfortable. It's 10 minutes from Castellina in Chianti, a gem of a small Tuscan town, where we went almost every day. Gaia was our host for the rental and she attended to every detail - travel and dining recommendations, comfort in the house, and more. Less than 1 hour from Florence and 30 minutes from Siena, and lots of lovely towns everywhere. An expensive rental, but worth the price!

Look no further. Stay here!
This was one of the best home rental experiences we have had. We have stayed at over 30 homes abroad over the years and this ranks with the best.
From the start, our hosts were hospitable, kind and communicative. As we were several hours late from our anticipated arrival time, Gaia greeted us with nothing but a smile and warmth. We travelled from the states with two young children as well as my parents (70s), so we travel slow, and Gaia was completely understanding.
As you can tell from the pictures, the house is gorgeous, but to see it in person was even more impressive. The view, the pool, the outdoor sitting/dining areas were all very special. The house itself was built by Gaia’s parents in the 1970’s and had all the charm we were looking for in a Tuscan villa. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the many day trips available to us being in such an ideal and central location (Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Castellina de Chianti, Saturnia thermal pools, and more).
We cooked several meals in the well appointed kitchen and slept soundly in the comfortable beds. If you are considering a villa in this location, look no further. You will not be disappointed!

Fantastic place
holiday home with stunning views and pool area with good sun loungers and parasols. The pool is cleaned several times a week and is very nice to use. Large house with 4 large bedrooms with attached bathrooms. In the kitchen is everything that is needed for cooking. Fantastic villa with the best host we have ever had. Gaia was incredibly helpful with everything and even Coronatest she ordered for us before our return trip.
We give the house, garden and pool area as well as the host Gaia our best recommendations and hope to return another time.

Perfekt!

This villa is a beautiful family vacation home with lots of charm and character. The owner’s artwork is beautifully displayed throughout. The views and sunsets are majestic. The owners went out if their way to make our stay enjoyable. They helped with our itinerary, recommendations for dinner, car rental, etc. We found it really hard to leave. It was the highlight of our 2 week trip to the Tuscany region.

Perfect location !
We cannot say enough good things about our stay at this wonderful Tuscan hideaway! The setting is breathtaking, the villa is extremely comfortable and very well equipped, with many thoughtful basic provisions to make our stay more comfortable. Laura and Gaia were exceptionally generous with their time in offering recommendations for tours, tour guides, restaurants, and even an in home chef. Their recommendation to set up tours of Sienna and Florence with Francesca Vigni was invaluable! We were a group of 7 celebrating milestone birthdays for my husband and I, with my 85-year-old mother, and 2 adult children with their partners and we all had the most wonderful experience in Tuscany. We would highly recommend this villa to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat! Do pack some bug spray as the flies were a little aggressive by the pool!

Beautiful Tuscany
The villa is beautiful. The grounds are everything it claims. Acres of land overlooking the landscape for miles. The swimming pool was great after tours of Florence and Siena and a drive to some of the little towns in the area. The house was beautiful and large for 8 adults. A nice bedroom and full bath for each couple and well stocked with everything needed for cooking in or outdoors after a swim. Great place
