The room was comfortable enough and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was good value.
The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've ever slept on.

It was ok but needs modernisation that’s for sure
had to clean mess up that was left after a spillage in the bathroom that had been missed by the cleaners

Location suited our needs.
No one was on reception when we arrived, even though staff were aware that we were waiting, they did not acknowledge us. We were left waiting quite a while until someone eventually turned up to check us in. The room was adequate, provided the basic necessities and was relatively clean, although there was a dead fly that was squished in the curtain. There was no hot water and the plumbing in the bathroom was very noisy every time you flushed the toilet or used the tap. The fire alarm went off at 2am, which woke us both up, a few minutes after it had stopped, there was a knock on the door from someone who wanted to check the fire alarm asking if the light on the alarm in our room was flashing - no apologies or explanation was offered. The fire alarm went off again at around 8am, again no explanation or apology. We thought maybe this might be addressed when we went to check out, but again no one was on reception at checkout time. Can’t comment on the food, as we decided not eat there after seeing a member of staff blow his nose onto the car park floor (without a tissue!) which put us off.

We loved everything ! I had stayed at the Hand on many occasions when working at the fabulous Morton Hall school. Always wanted to stay on a a holiday basis. Outstanding hotel! Thank you .
We didn’t realise there was a function going on but we worked around it.

Wonderful old coaching inn, wonky floors and all. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is hot, filling and very tasty with good quality produce.
Some of the décor is a little tired but it does not affect the comfort of the rooms.

the location and the fact that parking was convenient and free

A typical old hotel with cosy log fires in the lounge/bar. Easy parking for our motorbikes. Breakfast was decent quality
A bit pricey for what was on offer. Disappointingly, the restaurant was closed to us on the night as the hotel said they had a party booked.

Friendly staff, good location, good sized family room, nice breakfast
Room was fairly hot at night
4.1
Location, friendly staff
Meal availability limited evening meal choice as several options had run out by our 8.00pm table booking. Also, although fixed in half an hour, lack of hot water delayed being able to have shower.

lovely cosy rooms and freshly decorated

We liked the area, and breakfast exceptionally good
Comfort of mattress felt very dated and springs not very comfortable, we asked for the heating to be turned on but it never happened ,price of room

Lovely well presented room on the top floor. The breakfast was excellent - my vegetarian was great and my wife, something of a connoisseur said her porridge was sublime.
Road noise in the bedroom was a bit of an issue for us - we're country folks, not used to the sound of cars.

Excellent Breakfast in lovely surroundings. The staff were courteous and very attentive. Great location

Really comfortable bed - slept very well indeed
bizarre configuration of bedside lamps and few sockets - had to do some re-arranging of room to be able to read in bed
