Memorable Experience

An unforgettable five-star stay at the famous Prudhomme Estate! Despite some initial hesitations due to past reviews, our experience was nothing short of amazing. It seems there has been a significant shift, possibly in management, resulting in outstanding service and immaculate property. The property manager, Wilson, was exceptional and ensured our stay was nothing short of perfect. The property is ideally located, providing easy access to all we wanted to see and do. If you're unsure about booking, let this review reassure you - our experience at this bed and breakfast was genuinely memorable, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

NOT family friendly. Smells terrible. Small rooms. Dishonest bed descriptions. Tiny common space.

The lady who operated but clearly did not own or have any control over the place was friendly and sympathetic.

This was advertised as family-friendly and was not remotely. We booked a 7 night stay with mine and my brother's family. We had two 1 year olds and a few older children and intended to eat Thanksgiving dinner in this place. The entire place smelled strongly of a combination of sewage and weed. People were smoking both cigarettes and weed all over the outdoor common space. There was also a very steep and dangerous staircase with wooden steps - we asked for a child gate but they had none. Additionally, the bedrooms (other than one) were so small that they could not fit a pack-n-play - the baby had to sleep in the kitchen - also the bed descriptions are not all right - no king/queens & no bedroom with two beds so we had to move the youngest child into our bed, which was only a full size (pic is largest bed). The "common space" (outside of bedrooms) was limited to an approx. 6'x6'room plus the kitchen with no table... no place to eat at all and no meaningful indoor space to gather. The outdoor space (in pictures online) looks nice but we could not let the kids out there. After one night (we checked in late), we reached out to the lady running the place at 10 AM and said we would be leaving immediately and offered to pay for two nights (though we'd only stayed one). She kindly said she understood completely but did not control payments and would reach out to the owner, who would call us back. I called her back several times that day as I never got a call from the owner. I finally called the booking.com site and, by coincidence, she answered. She recognized me immediately and told me who she was and that she'd talked to her boss who informed her he would not be calling me back as we had "signed a contract." I will likely be suing to try to get my money back from this dishonest property owner.

FILTHY, rat feces and sketchy electrical

The courtyard pictured in for this property is as charming as it looks. Unfortunately, this is where anything good stops. This place smells bad, was FILTHY, and was extremely uncomfortable. There was rat feces in two rooms, the sink didn't drain in the bathroom, and the electricity didn't work in two rooms.

The overall cleanliness was abysmal. The toilets were dirty, the pillows had stains, the kitchen hasn't been wiped down in years. The light switches had smears of god knows what. We had to find other accommodations. We had to stay the first night because we couldn't find anywhere else until the next day. We slept on top of the covers in our clothes and got out as quickly as we could the next day. I reached out to the property management company with my complaint and never heard anything from them.

Thoroughly terrible, a horrible experience

This is a summary of the many problems I encountered dealing with “Chateau Prudhomme” through YouRent.com. I booked the stay on March 14, 2021 through Booking.com. It was for a period of 6 days, from August 1 through August 7, 2021 for $1824.39. It was for “5 BR – Sleeps 10! Best Location next to French Quarter!” at 2422 Chartres Street in New Orleans. There were many attractive features, including a pool and hot tub. The most important feature was walking distance to the French Quarter, a primary reason we chose this property. We thought we were all set and began planning our vacation. Then, a week before departure, we received by email a “check in form” for an entirely different property! This alternate property was in a completely different part of the city (more later) 8.5 miles from the French Quarter. No pool, no hot tub, obviously not within walking distance, in a very high violent crime area. NOT COMPARABLE at all to the contracted property. I replied by email that this was not the property we had reserved…no response. Then I began calling or attempting to call. I played phone games for days. When we finally was able to talk to a real person, we got no explanation of why things were changed and we were informed that they had the right to change properties. They refused to cancel the booking or refund our money. We ultimately decided not to stay there. In summary, this was a TERRIBLE experience. I believe that “bait & switch” tactics were used, describing a desirable property, pretty pictures, nice handbook. Then, conveniently well after the refund period, they make an unauthorized switch with no explanation to a property that is MUCH LESS DESIRABLE and NOT COMPARABLE. This sort of fraud is generally illegal and certainly unethical. Communication was extremely poor, vague and evasive, with multiple unkept promises to “get back” to me. This entire process was completely unprofessional and reflects poorly on any company involved.

Worth the cost!

We actually didn't have any catered breakfast or any of the meals. But we did make ourselves some meals most days. I'm ready to take my family back to stay for another week.

There was a lack of communication while we were on our way to New Orleans. The house that we were supposed to stay in had an issue that needed fixed and we weren't told about it until we reached the property. It group was given an upgrade due to the inconvenience and I believe it was a better location.

Bait and switch

Unfortunately, I was not able to visit the property shown or described. The property I booked was not the property I was directed to. The place I did visit was a horrible, dirty mess with no amenities. An event space that was being passed off as a residential property. I was highly disappointed that I was tricked by the property owners.

I hated everything.

Not worth the price and I won't stay here again!!!

The location was great! However, there were so many things that went wrong before it got better. Even the staff members started off wrong. But we were able to find some really great people that worked here after two days and they made our stay better. I wouldn't stay here again though.

The fact that we had to stand outside in the dark for 15 minutes because we never received the house code. Also, the house in the picture is NOT the house you reserve. It's just part of the property which is a false advertisement!! We also found our room to be dirty, trash in the cans from a previous stay, pop bottles under the bed, and dusty as heck!! This room was not worth the price I paid, we also found out 3 days before arrival there was a 1,000 dollar deposit which was charged like $1500. This whole experience was very stressful but we made it through.
