About this apartment rental
This charming property is self-contained with separate and private access.
Villa Marchi, built in 1873 and restored in July 2016, is set in terraced gardens of lemon and orange trees, with beautiful cobbled-stone steps leading down to an eye-catching iron gateway and directly to the sea.
Built for a trader in Japanese artefacts and designed by reputable architect Nikola Marchi, it originally contained a theatre and a large collection of oriental art. So significant was its reputation as "the most beautiful villa in the Adriatic" that it was visited by the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef I in 1875. Today, the villa is divided into three parts, and we are offering a remarkable first-floor apartment with a Romeo and Juliet balcony, views across the harbour and islands, a private terraced garden with seating areas, and a summer kitchen ideal for preparing al fresco meals and refreshments.
Entering through the wrought iron gates, the pebbled stone steps lead you past several terraced garden areas until you reach a stone column portico. The main door to the villa leads into a spacious communal hall with stone stairs and an intricate, elaborate balustrade that takes you to the first floor. Entering the apartment leads to a small inner hall with rooms on both sides. Double doors lead to the main bedroom, which is situated at the rear of the building. The bedroom is well-appointed and includes a large double bed with a quality mattress and bedside tables and lamps. There is also a run of mirror-fronted wardrobes with hanging rails and shelves. The bedroom is fitted with a "silent night" air conditioning system with climate control, allowing the ability to sleep with the ideal room temperature. The ensuite bathroom is well-designed with a spacious shower cubicle, a large rain shower head, and, in addition, a handheld shower. A wash hand basin set in a vanity unit with a mirror above and WC to complete this room.
The living room is situated at the front of the building and is a beautifully proportioned room with high ceilings and an oak wood floor finish. A set of arched windows allows a stunning view of the crystal clear Adriatic and the nearby islands. There is a range of furniture including a sofa and seats, a modern, flat-screen TV and internet connection. A dining room area leads off from the main living room, which has a dining room table and chairs. This, in turn, leads through to the kitchen.
The kitchen is compact but perfectly formed with all the necessities to make life a breeze whilst on holiday. It is wanting for nothing and has beautiful views to the front and side garden. Off the kitchen is a small hall leading to both the the garden and second shower room. This also has a large shower, a fixed shower head and a handheld shower. A basin is within a vanity unit, and there is a WC.
The second bedroom is located off the living room, and although a little smaller, it is just as beautifully presented as the main bedroom, with twin beds that can be put together to make a double bed with bedside tables. There is a run of mirror-fronted wardrobes with shelving and hanging rail and French doors leading to a romantic Romeo and Juliet balustrade balcony, which has the most beautiful vista looking over the gardens and the sea beyond to the islands off Hvar town.
The outside area is an important addition to any holiday accommodation, and the garden has been designed in order to maximise the eating and living space. There are several relaxation areas both on several terraces and in the meditation room, a lovely stone building that has been restored in exposed stone and wood. There is also a summer kitchen, which is ideal for the preparation of food for those outside al fresco meals.
Apart from the beautifully appointed accommodation, Villa Marchi has an unrivalled position, being located only minutes from the nearest beach and also within 5 minutes of Hvar town main square! Pretty much everything is on your doorstep, from the catamarans to Split to taxi boats, cafes, bars, and restaurants.
We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful apartment, staying in what is definitely the most beautiful Villa in Hvar.

Absolutely breathtaking property. Perfect location and one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Everything was new and very tastefully decorated. Rupert was wonderful in checking us in. We are already wanting to go back.

Spectacular property/location
The home is beautiful with incredible water views, outdoor spaces and privacy. Very comfortable and clean and steps from the ferry and town square. Rupert is lovely and very responsive and helpful - we appreciated his short orientation to the city and great recommendations!

Fabulous villa, perfectly located!
Lovey garden courtyard, impeccably clean property, lovely decor - modern within the beautiful bones of the stone villa, beautifully located, fabulous host who never hesitated to help make our stay perfect, high quality beds, sheets, air conditioning, bathrooms have great showers and the views from the villa are beautiful. Close to everything but quiet and secluded. Can't say enough to recommend it.

Beautiful and clean Villa, we loved staying here. Thank you Rupert!
The Villa was beyond beautiful, clean and walking distance to everything, we loved staying there with our two toddlers. Rupert was really helpful, he showed us the town the first night we got there and his office is not far from the Villa if we ever needed help or have questions. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing trip staying in Rupert’s apartment! The apartment was clean, well-appointed, and had an unbelievable private outdoor terrace. Great views out to the Adriatic as well! It was a 3 min walk to all the restaurants and shops of the city center, but felt completely private. Rupert was incredibly attentive and responsive to our needs, and provided great recommendations. We loved our time in Hvar, and wouldn’t stay anywhere else if we visit again!

Beautiful Apartment and Gracious Hosts
My husband and I just returned from a 5-night stay in this property and we loved every moment we spent there. The property is in a great location near all the Hvar action, but is also quite. The apartment and decor is BEAUTIFUL. We had another couple join us for part of our stay and there was ample room for 4 adults. Also, Katia and Rupert made wonderful dining and activity recommendations. Book this home, you won't be disappointed.

This property is outstanding!
The location, the interior design but most important the hosts make this propert one of a kind. I traveled to Hvar with my husband and older children who enjoyed the property as much as I did. You just walk 5 to 7 minutes and you have access to the sea, the downtown, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, etc. The unit is incredibly spacious, with excellent views of the sea and the Islands. The kitchen is well equipped and Rupert and his wife were very thoughtful in leaving in the kitchen some products that cover your first necessities. The property also offers a very manicured outside patio with lounges, a BBQ set, dinner table and a meditation area.
I have no doubt we will return to this incredible place in the near future. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Dawnay for the exquisite taste you have put into this property and your kindness to us.

Beautiful clean property with spectacular views with a few annoyances..
In the most fabulous location close to shops, bars, boat hire, beach etc the views from the premises are breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the sea and islands beyond. The property is lovely clean although is you are using it to self cater we felt it was lacking with equipment. There were no treats on arrival ie; a bottle of local wine or even milk or basics in the fridge which I have been used to in previous rentals. It is worth pointing out all the steps up to the premises with your luggage, fine if you're young, fit and healthy but otherwise prepare yourself (there are no cars in this area so you wouldn't be able to get a taxi). If you're planning on using this for entertaining into the wee small hours I would think again, we had an altercation with the known aggressive neighbour when we returned from a wedding at 2.30am.
The aircon was a godsend and functions perfectly.
The showers in the apartment are lovely when you can get warm/hot water, we had to wash our hair in cold water on the day of the wedding which was annoying. I don't think the boiler system is up to housing the whole building!
The gardens are beautiful and the sunbathing terrace is lovely but only has two sunbed. It's a real suntrap and you really need the well thought of outdoor shower below.
All in all a very beautiful place but could so nearly be perfect!

Grandeur of the Past ModernElegance of the Present
Rupert and his team that will make sure every second of your stay is as magical as this villa and the island of Hvar. Communication from booking to check out was above and beyond. The interior design of the home is impeccable and everything is brand new and renovated to a 5-star standard of elegance. The rooms are large, the beds are very comfortable and the closet space is endless. Once through the double doors to the apt there is a foyer and to the left is the master bedroom and bath and to the right, the main family room with a sprawling view of the Adriatic Sea looking out to the islands beyond and boats whisking by. The second bedroom is also in this area and a good size. Beds can be put together to make a queen or separated to accommodate more guests and this room is where the Romeo and Juliet balcony is located. If you like to cook, you will love the kitchen: its complete and spacious with a window that looks out onto the Adriatic and another that opens to the modern, sleek garden/patio outdoor area. The design is like something out of Architectural Digest. Simply stunning and inviting with 4 well planned private levels that encompass the garden area into one: be it you want to soak up some sun on two lounge chairs on the very top deck with a view of the Adriatic and overlooking the modern garden or perhaps just a level below you want to meditate in the meditation room. There is also a good sized “outdoor kitchen” which houses another small refrigerator and laundry area with a washer and dryer and then the breakfast area table under a trellis of vines and flowers. You’ll also find if you need some limes you can pick one right off the trees in this garden area. Plus! the villa is right in town and yet you can feel like you are away from it all when you go home. Another plus, Rupert sent cleaners by on our 3rd day and fresh towels. The place was immaculate when we returned. The space of this property is endless regardless that the villa is owned and divided by 3 families. The families are very quiet and very pleasant when, and if, you happen to cross paths on the grand staircase up to the main door. However, if you want total privacy there is a separate entrance on the side of the villa which will open up in to the outdoor deck area.
Villa Marchi is everything and more.
Thank you Rupert and Kaitja for your unwavering hospitality and thank you also to the families in the villa for being so kind! Appreciate all you did for me during my stay! Thanks!

Wow what a holiday. What a place. What a location.
Villa Marchi was an amazing place to stay. Rupert is the best. The most gracious of host and also let you do your own thing. That being said if you needed something he had the answer. He has lived in Hvar for over a decade and knows it all. The meditation room, sun deck and villa patio are all your own. It was the best and I have been to Hvar 3 times. This was the best experience by far that I have had. Stay here if you have the chance.

A wonderful apartment in a fantastic building
Had a lovely few days in this apartment, in a glorious building, overlooking the sea with fantastic views. The owners have renovated the apartment to such a high standard, and has all the amenities you need for a great stay in Hvar town. The location is fantastic, just a quick stroll into town, couldn't be better. Can't wait to return again.
