I liked the place and the location.
I didn't like the food offered for breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was just a bunch of the lowest quality food from Mercadona, which is a shame because there are lots of good local products in the area. There is also only one staff member attending tables for the food service, which is understandable as there are only 9 rooms in the hotel, but you are left unattended for long periods of time without knowing what to do.
I compared it to when I visited the place 10 years ago under different management and had a great experience overall, so my expectations were high and were not met as the new management could not keep the high standards in service and food.

Beautiful location and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Quiet and totally relaxing. Highly recommended if you need to get away and relax for a week. I will be back when I’m next in the Malaga region.
Nothing. I couldn’t fault the property.

Fantastically beautiful location in the country site, very quiet and relaxing, the hotel is very tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. Our large room was in the main building on the first floor with a large terrace and views of the mountains and the beautiful garden with swimming pool. Very comfortable beds. We slept excellent. Very good breakfast. The dinners were also very good, for us starters and main courses were sufficient. The three sisters are excellent hosts, we felt very comfortable and at home. Unfortunately we only stayed 4 nights at this rural hotel, wished we could have stayed longer. We'd love to come back.

The views from the property are just awesome! Hotel very quaint and rural.
Well we had booked here at the cortijo because of the good reviews concerning the location with views and home made food!
We were unlucky that the cook was ill and we were given both nights food that was easy to prepare by the owners so imagine hardly any choice mainly salads and cold meats. Very disappointed by the poor effort they made concerning this problem. There are no restaurants nearby and certainly need a car to get to them.

Immaculate traditional style hotel both inside and out. The owners (3 Sisters) were great, looking after your every need giving our stay a perfect homely feel.

This is without doubt the most beautiful place we have ever stayed.
From the location to the beautiful rooms, beautiful gardens and the wonderfully kind and attentive without being intrusive three sisters who own and run the hotel, it is all just perfect.
There are occasions when, by chance you are lucky enough to find such a special place and this is one.
We didn’t want to leave and we hope to return.
Thankyou for your kindness and for making our stay so relaxed.
Absolutely nothing.

Breakfast good apart from poor quality cold meats
Nice garden with socially distanced tables for meals.
Air con in room not turned on before we arrived. Temperature outside was 34C.

Beautiful property in a wonderful garden. Lots of places to sit and/or lounge. Great views. Fabulous pool. Comfortable, cool room with a small private terrace. Lovely welcoming staff. Very good food and service. All in all: relaxing and restorative. Approx one hour from Málaga airport.
Car parking spaces are a little tight when there are lots of cars needing to park.

very quiet and rural. Beautiful views and excellent food and hospitality. The three sisters who run the hotel are super and very kind and helpful, and one is a wonderful chef. Houdini was an unexpected but very entertaining addition!
Everything was good- no complaints

A wonderful welcome at this charming rustic hotel with delightful garden run by three sisters who do everything to make you feel welcome and comfortable without being intrusive. Marvellous breakfast and lovely view from patio in comfortable room. Would definitely stay again. The evening meals are hearty, not fine dining.
Definitely need a car and limited walking in the immediate area although not too far to explore the white villages around.

The rooms, the setting, the gardens, the food (both breakfast and dinner) and the owners were all wonderful. an exceptionally restful place to stay.
We’d have like a bath and a more powerful shower.

beautiful gardens, lovely quiet location.
Not much. as I have reviewed elsewhere I'd like to see a few English TV channels and coffee making facilities in the room would be nice.

Wonderful evening meals - we ate there all five nights of our stay. Extremely helpful hosts, very kind and friendly.
Quiet, comfortable room.
Many thanks.
Everything was great.

The setting, the tranquility of the whole hotel, the cleanliness, all the little extra things that are in the hotel.
The lack of choice for evening meal, and having to order 12hrs before if you wanted the cooked option.

This is the most wonderful accomodation in Andalucia, very quiet with very friendly people.
Nothing, everything was super!

As we drove up the mountain road toward La Vinuela, nothing could have prepared us for the sight that greeted us when we exited the road for Alhama. It was a Shangri-La moment from Lost Horizon. As we turned the bend a beautiful valley suddenly emerged into view, with a turquoise-coloured salt lake below surrounded by an expansive vista of mountain ranges. It wasn't long before we reached the off road entrance to Hotel Rural, still hidden from view until the very last second. But there it was, tucked into the mountainside, this large finca-style hotel, beautifully adorned with small trees, pocket-size lawns, manicured hedges, a water fountain and overhead trellis to shade you from the sun. The perfect setting where breakfast and dinner are cordially served. (We also loved the Salvador Dali-like ornaments embedded into the walls). From there, we made our way down to the panoramic pool-side view overlooking the valley and mountains beyond. It really is a breathtaking sight to behold. All this you can enjoy from the privacy of your room. Indeed, this is a one-off hidden gem that exudes peace and solitude. Perfect for city-dwellers who would like to re-engage with their sanity in the sunlit beauty of rural Spain. Hats off to Isobel, Claudia and Rosy, the three sisters who own and run this delightful retreat. There are other important features and services spotlighted in other reviews - with the exception of one last treat. As the sun went down we heard the faint sound of cowbells off in the distance. Before long, as if on cue from central casting, the local shepherd and his goats meander across the hillside above to complete this picture-perfect setting.
Nothing, a slice of heaven.

Lovely lady owners. The woman's touch very much in evidence. Food excellent.
Swimming pool a little too small. Advance signalisation of hotel location should be improved.

An old house that has been lovingly restored and has up-to-date facilities, is now run by 3 very friendly sisters. All the meals were very good, but the breakfasts were exceptionally generous of a variety of fruit, yoghurt, breads, cheeses, meats, eggs, etc. served on a lovely terrace facing one of the several beautiful gardens around the house.
