The athmosphere, the friendly staff and the location
The facilities were a little rustical but it was still okay

Propre.
Emplacement proche bus et en centre ville.
Proche cascade.

Sehr gute Lage, gutes Wifi. Personal freundlich, gute Vibes.

The first impression was friendly smiling staff ready to help with a great smell of cleanliness and hygiene tops marks for the warm welcome. The bus stop is directly in front with views of the sea set in nature with wild monkeys in the trees and the host dog and cats always ready for some love and affection .There is a sign apologising for the inconvienience caused having the toilets cleaned every 2 hours thats a first in my 25 years staying in hostels the place is always clean and benefits 2 workaway girls that are fresh and ready to answer all your questions they bring a healthy angle to the place and lm sure the management plan continuing the workaway platform for the benefit of everyone. This is a family owned business and you feel that warmth in the atmosphere here .Enjoy your stay and book longer theres always another bus .
nothing that the hostel can provide could of been bettter its great here. Your not sold a tour here you get good advice and choose with no pressure.

Great location. This was also a lovely little town with a community feel. This place is basic (think beach hut), but met the needs.
There was little space to sit and socialise, not helped by the hundreds of 'staff/owners friends' that stayed for hours every day. As a result, very hard to meet people and made this place have a very strange vibe. The beds were also very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs in the mattresses so they could use an upgrade.

good location, about a two minute walk from the beach
no a/c and no social life

It was close to the beach and drop off from the boat. The decor and outside areas were nicely done.
AC would be a good addition in the future, the room was very hot. No window curtain in the room, no microwave.

Near the beach, nice people, good equipped kitchen, coffee every morning for free, clean showers, hammocks to chill in. Staff always happy to help. Beds are really comfy

Good location
-dorms are very small, there was only one ventilator working, during the nights it was just SO hot and smelly
-kitchen always dirty
-not a lot of chill- space outside
-same with the bathroom, they say that they clean the bathrooms every 2 hours, but i'm not sure about that;)
-maybe the the dorms upstairs are a bit better, but i definitely wouldn't recommend

lovely outside space and nice staff
it was way too hot in the dorms. there was only 2 fans for 5 beds so I slept 2 nights outside on the balcony because it was just not bearable.

good room with a fan, also liked the communal areas.
we got ripped off pretty bad… first by paying the hostel and later when we booked a tour through the hostel :(. the owner uses her own rate, which is way more expensive than the actual one. we tried to do the good thing by paying in colones, but we could have saved 40€ by paying in dollars… when we asked about it, she waved it away. ruined the stay for us :(

Owners were amazing and helpful. The rooms are clean, and have fans and windows, communal kitchen is well stocked, and hammocks and Wi-Fi make planning easy. Super close to town and the bus stop.
Nothing, everything was pretty much expected for a good hostel.

Beautiful flora and fauna. Resident animals that are very cute and wonderful staff. This is my 2nd time at this hostel. The 1st time was 5 years ago
Due to inflation, it’s much more expensive, but the quality of stay didn’t change over the last few years, and you have to pay extra for things like towels. They do their best to keep it clean, but often times the bathrooms and kitchen get messy so quickly with so many guests.

Great value for money, next to the beach, staff is very kind. A big hug to Joanna and Sara. PURA VIDA. Salvo

Beautiful colorful plants, flowers and wall paintings, there is everything to cook, kitchen usually clean, near the beach and the center, cute wooden second floor, free good coffee.
The hostel has good potential, but really needs improvement. Dorm 1st floor has no AC, just 2 noisy fans for 4 bunk beds so it's very hot, walls need painting, we feel the springs in the mattress (I already had pain in my back, was worse in the morning), pillow too thin so it's like if you didn't have, no plugs near the bed, if you're on the bed on top, ceiling is too low so you knock you're head on, bathroom 1st floor often dirty, one night the toilet was jammed full of poop, one bunk bed doesn't have ladder, so my roomate hurt himself trying to get down, 4 hamacs but too close to each other so you have the other person just beside you, floor in front of the dorm so slippery that's dangerous to fall, cushions in common area are flat/thin because too old, empty pool, coldest showers ever. Second floor seems better so I used the bathroom 2nd floor.

a lot of outside area to hang out, staff is very friendly and helpful, kitchen is well equipped

Great location for walking to supermarket and restaurants. On your way in make sure you stop for cash ...no machines in Montezuma. You will need bus taxi etc so bring cash.
Lots of sitting areas outside. Enjoyable atmospere. Right across from the beach! Big plus. Free hike to waterfalls...not much is free in CR so that is a bonus.
It is hot at night in the rooms..air-conditioning at night would be great but obviously that would raise the price and we are all travelling on a budget. Take a cold shower ...keep the fans on full and you should get used to it...better to endure the heat and get used to it.

the location
the room did not have door in the bathroom, did not have window, the shower did not have hot water, the bed did not have blankets, in summary it’s a hostel with hotel prices
3.5 / 5.0
Central, relatively quiet
crowded. too many people in one room

Nice guests. Good price..good shower water pressure. Great location
No lockets in roomed for luggage. Only space for laptops..no oil or vinegar for guests to use.

Good location and affordable price
There aren't any banks or ATM in Montezuna and we can only pay cash.
The hostel could be much better, small pool is empty, kitchen closes at 8 30 PM... it looks like the staff don t care about their hostel.

Good location. Nice appearance from
outside.
Dorm very small, did not know where to put my bag in the room.
No ladder to top bed.
Showers nasty.
Kitchen very dirty.
They lock the kitchen and turn off the lights in the communal place at 9 pm even though still sitting there.

Staff was friendly and the hammocks in the lounge were nice. Good location literally just a few minutes away from the beach, but quiet at night since it was at a dead end.
The room felt like a sauna. It was sooooooo hot inside. The fan did absolutely nothing other than spread the heat and it was so loud I could barely sleep even with earplugs on. The sink had a leak, so everytime you used it, the bathroom floor was flooded. There was no hot water in the shower and a crab was trying to come up through the drain. Really uncomfortable bed and pillows. I would not recommend this hostel.

Locetion
Open hours for kitchen, you can hear every step and every breath of your neighbors, fan can go super strong or stonger or stronger, poor shower, toilet in over cleaned so you can't breath inside. No value for the 50 dolars, sorry.

Community space is nice, lots of plants, some nice spots to chill.
Location is nice, quiet, a little uphill so you can get some refreshing winds.
Rooms are okay, some with a view over the jungle.
Toilets are relatively clean.
The kitchen is really gross. There is only one functioning filthy, completely full fridge that is the only space to store food for around 30 people. In there you find rotting food, ants, cockroaches, months-old stains and it stinks...
During the first night we stored some of our food outside the fridge. Next morning we found feces in our food bag and a half eaten avocado. Turns out wild animals like racoons and skunks have access to the kitchen in the back. Eventhough the kitchen is closed to humans and you have no access to it between 8.30pm and 7am.
Obviously this is unacceptable as it can be a serious health concern. We were not warned about this and there are no closed cabinets or containers to store food.
When we adressed the issue to the man working at the reception, we were shocked by the total indifference and rude arrogance of that person. To the question if he thinks that its normal that there is feces in the kitchen right now, he literally answered "yes its normal, don't make such a fuzz about it".
We wanted to cancel our reservation but they refused to refund us.
If you plan to use a kitchen, you should definitely go somewhere else.
