This property exceeded our expectations on many levels. Martine is the perfect host. She is very helpful and accommodating. We were looking for somewhere we could relax and chill out. This house was so comfortable and quiet yet only an easy 15 minutes stroll to the centre of town. The house has lots of old and interesting furniture and artifacts. We would definitely return.

Beautiful section of a house in proximity to the old Aix. Martine was most accomodating and the place even had two terraces, and a nice private parking spot. We were two couples and enjoyed our 5 days in the area, with this wonderful pied a terre. Hoping tocome back one of these days. Merci Martine

Charming, comfortable, character filled apartment with a lovely garden, all amenities and secure on site parking in a great neighbourhood in a quiet area. Easy walk into Aix and all the markets, shops, restaurants and all historic attractions. Martine makes your stay even more enjoyable by being such a kind, helpful, thoughtful and very warm person to know. Martine has the perfect knack of being always on hand should you need her but completely unobtrusive too. She was a great help retrieving a parcel the local post office lost and I doubt we would have got it back without her insistent help. We were very sad to leave and could have stayed there for another month or two if time had allowed. 20 stars.

No complaints, good experience overall. Slight walk to town, but otherwise good.

A wonderful host from the moment we booked. Gave us a full tour of the house with lots of helpful advice on places to eat and visit. A lovely apartment to stay in with great facilities. Secure parking.

Martine is an awesome host. The place is just outside the busy area but very walkable: the town center, the market, and even bus stations are all within walking distance. The on-site parking is awesome, and all 3 rooms are nicely put together. I'll stay there again next time should I visit Aix again.

Martine's lovely home in Aix-en-Provence was perfect with a beautiful location; 3 very comfortable bedrooms, charming porch and terrace. Everything very clean and neat, with a nice kitchenn dishwasher and washing machine. Martine is very interesting and was extremely helpful. A good supermarket is nearby and it's an easy walk to Centreville and the bus plaza. We highly recommend staying with Martine!

We chose this property for its location in a quiet neighborhood that is within walking distance of Aix’s famous markets. And for its reasonable rate. We got much more than we expected. We loved eating on the two terraces, one for morning, one for evening. The kitchen was tiny but well-equipped, and the nearby grocery store was a plus. We slept like babies on the beds and enjoyed hot showers in the modern bathroom. Appliances were easy to operate. Martine, who lives below, was helpful but not intrusive. Our stay was so pleasant and trouble-free that we are already talking about coming back for a longer stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our host, Martine, was so lovely and helpful. There were three of us - all adults- in Aix-en-Provence to visit my daughter who is studying there. We could not have picked a nicer home and location. The house is charming and clean and wonderful and it is within a 5-10 walk of everything you may need- yet It is in a very nice quiet neighborhood. I would go back and highly recommend this property.

Aix is a great place to experience Provence from and this house was perfect for our needs. A 10 minute walk from everything in Aix with parking and less than an hours drive to most of Provence, From Toulon, to Marseille, to Arles to Orange. The three bedrooms was great for a couple with 2 adult children. I would stay here again if I am ever back in Provence!

We stayed for 4 nights to explore the Provence region. Parking was easy and walk to town for the Saturday market was great. Martine was really helpful and left lots of information and tips. The flat was large and kitchen well equipped although we ate out most days

We stayed at Character House for two months and loved it!
Madam H. was an absolutely terrific host. The apartment was very quiet, clean and great value. Two bedrooms are very spacious, the third one is smaller with one twin bed. The beds are very comfortable beds and the bedrooms have lots of storage. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking and food preparation. There are two separate terraces, one with morning sun, the other with afternoon sun. There is a lot of comfortable living space.
Madam H. was very helpful with local knowledge and even helped us to receive mail from Canada. The location is a short walk to the historical centre and quiet. A grocery store (Casino) is about 200 metres. We highly recommend this home.

Property is lovely. Close enough to walk into Aix, far away enough to not have to take a car through the narrow streets of it. Superb air con in the 2 double rooms. Everything you could possibly need in the apartment, especially in the kitchen. Mme Honorât was excellent throughout. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place to stay in Aix
This VRBO was so much better than a hotel. We were a family of 4 adults, and with 3 bedrooms, we had plenty of room. There was a full kitchen, one large bathroom (and enough hot water for 4 showers in a row), dining/living room, and front and back patios to enjoy the brilliant Aix sun any time of the day. The rental was the second floor of a house, and the hostess lived below. She greeted us exactly when she said she would, showed us around the place, gave us the keys, and went on her way. She was very nice and accommodating. Both the main town square and the supermarket are about a 10 minute walk from the property, so it's easy to stock up. Would definitely go back.

Wonderful place to base your stay in Provence
We spent nearly four weeks in this wonderful house in a perfect location, just a ten-minute walk from the center of the old town of Aix. Driving access was simple approaching from either side of Aix, although once you were there you could walk almost everywhere you wanted to go, even to a nearby grocery store. One of the least expensive gas stations in Aix is just two blocks away. The parking is a major plus as street parking, at least in this part of Aix, can be scarce and expensive. As other reviewers have noted, it takes care to drive through the gates into the parking space, but after a little practice we handled it easily with a Renault Captur.
The apartment had everything anyone could want for either a short or long stay. The two main bedrooms are large and have plenty of storage space, our bed was quite comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked with necessaries, and the bathroom has more than enough hot water for two showers. The internet was good. The washing machine was an added plus, with a large sturdy drying rack to set up either indoors or out on the terrace (if the wind is not blowing!). And the front and back terraces were both lovely places to have lunch or an evening aperitif depending on the direction of the sun or wind. Unquestionably the best aspect of all is the delightful host, Martine, who lives downstairs and is available to assist in any way but also gives you plenty of privacy. Thank you for everything Martine! We were very happy to stay here and would come back again in a heartbeat.

Such a perfect experience
We loved it here! Plenty of room for all five of us (adults). A wonderful, beautiful, private apartment in the owner’s family home. We enjoyed coffee on the terrace in the morning and a quick (10 minute) walk to town to enjoy beautiful Aix during the day. The apartment has all modern amenities. Our host was delightful. She provided welcome refreshments and coffee and was available to help us with referrals to good restaurants and to arrange for a taxi for excursions. We would highly recommend this rental and we would love to return one day. Thank you so much, Martine, for everything.

The Top Choice in Aix-en-Provence
My two month stay could not have been better. Martine's house is perfectly located, very well maintained, and expertly managed. Plus she is a terrific person. I'm an old hand at these VRBO rentals and, after two months here, I know I lucked out. Huge place, three bedrooms, two terraces, perfect privacy, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable arrangements and furniture, great bed, equipped for a dinner party, a three block walk to old town, a grocery, hospital, doctors and dentists close by, little nighttime noise - look no farther. Thank you Martine. I will be back.

Lovely home with a wonderful host!
Communication with Martina was great- she was so kind, helpful with local information and flexible.
For our family of 5, this house had everything we needed, including 2 outdoor areas to relax in the sun. . It’s close to the bus and shops but in a peaceful, residential neighborhood.
I highly recommend Staying here for a relaxed family get away

Lovely home in the Sunny South.
The three bedroom house has high ceilings and is spacious with a lovely sunlit lounge and dining room, the windows having traditional shutters. The accommodation is on the first floor with stairs to the front terrace and front door, while at the rear there is another terrace where one can also take full advantage of the Provencal sunshine. There are outdoor tables and chairs and the house is surrounded by gardens and trees.
Our hostess, Martine, gave us a warm welcome. She lives downstairs but we had all the privacy we wanted.
The house is well equipped, with all the appliances as advertised, including fast internet. There are radiators in each room, so it is warm and comfortable.
We were able to walk almost everywhere in Aix, including the markets and excellent nearby supermarket. Martine has provided a shopping trolley to bring back produce, so the car is not needed.
There is one off-street car parking space, but the entrance gate is not wide.
A great place to stay. Thoroughly recommended for couples and families. We would love to stay longer as Aix is a great place to explore.

Great location and very comfortable
We just spent a month in the apartment and loved it. It is well located, just 10 minutes walk from the centre of town, but in a quite street. The apartment is spacious with good size rooms and two balconies. It has all the facilities needed for a long or short stay and is very comfortable. Martine, the host, is very welcoming and helpful. She was happy to share her substantial local knowledge that was very useful. It was also very good to have secure off street parking close to the centre of Aix. Highly recommended.

Relaxing in Aix-en-Provence
My mother (74 years), my sister (44 years) and I (47 years) stayed in this property for one week in September and enjoyed every moment. The house is very lovely and spacious. There are two big terraces with nice views and we liked to eat our breakfast there, as well as having occasional drinks. The house is very nicely furnished, bathroom and kitchen are well equipped and clean. The mattresses in the bedrooms are of very good quality as well as linen, and we slept comfortably. The house is situated in a wealthy and quiet neighbourhood, a short walking distance from the old town and city center. We didn't have a car, and it was easy to move about without one. We enjoyed our time and recommend highly this house for people who want a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. The owner is kind and very helpful lady, and she makes you feel like you're a welcome guest in her home.

wonderful house, great location, friendly and helpful owner
I stayed in this house for 60 days, and I miss it. The house is elegant and architecturally interesting, spacious, very comfortable, and well furnished. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. There are two terraces, front and back, for dining, reading, or relaxing. The plantings around the house are delightful. The owner, who lives in the ground floor flat, was welcoming and helpful. She responded quickly, cheerfully, and efficiently to every question. The house is located in a quiet green neighborhood, but is close to a large grocery and to cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and other shopping. Aix is a city for walking, full of interesting things and people to see. The house is about one km from the center city. But if you need or want transportation, multiple bus lines stop close to the house, including one right around the corner. The buses in Aix are frequent, reliable, inexpensive, and clean, and go anywhere you want to go. As you can see, I loved staying here and would happily do so again.

Perfect stay!
The location was perfect. We had a very warm welcome from Martine who was very helpful and kind. It was great to leave our car secure and be able to walk into Aix. The villa was very comfortable, clean and spacious and everything we needed. Would definitely recommend and stay again if in Aix.

Lovely Home
Spacious home within walking distance to the city center where you will find most or your shopping and dining. Martine was a most gracious host who was very accommodating. We spent two weeks exploring Southern France and would highly recommend this location for a couple or small family.

Great location in Aix
This house was well located within an easy walk to old Aix. It is charming with beautiful antiques and classic French style. The parking spot for our rental car was also very convenient as we used Aix as our base for exploring the area. But some of the textiles and mattresses need to be replaced as they were uncomfortable, and some items were stained. The accommodation could have been cleaner and we would have preferred newer bed linens / towels -- what we got was old and rough. Also, we are not used to having previously used food within the unit -- the cupboard in the kitchen really needs to be cleaned out and the cleaning supplies put away. In addition, the home needs professional cleaning, particularly in the bathroom, and we would have loved an adequate amount of toilet paper -- we got two rolls for our week rental. Lastly, the unit is not fully air conditioned (only the master bedroom is) and it was very uncomfortable during August; we appreciated the fans though and we were able to get some sleep. Martine was super friendly and helpful in providing suggestions for our stay, and she gave us maps and resources that really helped us during our week there. I hope the suggestions are helpful to make the rental better for future guests.

A perfect holiday home and a perfect host!
This is a beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and well-equipped apartment in a really pleasant neighbourhood, a short walk from the centre of Aix. It is bright and airy, and with two terraces, each getting the sun at different times of the day, there is always somewhere to sit and enjoy the beautiful garden, in the sunshine or the shade.
The owner, Martine, is a lovely lady who lives downstairs and she couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. She provided us with a lovely little starter pack on our arrival, including apricots from her garden and home-made jam. She made great recommendations for excursions and even wrote out directions for us. When we mentioned we were interested in the festival, not only did she provide us with a full programme of events she also gave us tips on getting cheap tickets. She really went out of her way to hep us make the most of our stay.
When I became ill, she made an appointment for me with her own doctor. She then drove us to the doctor and also to the hospital where she waited at least three hours in the waiting room with my husband. She even drove back to the apartment to get our phones. We are so grateful for everything she did for us. She really was fantastic!
This is a great holiday home with the ideal host. We are already making plans to go back.

This is a really hospitable property- Truly a home from home.
We were made very welcome by Martine the owner who lives below the apartment. 2 large bedrooms and one small one with large sitting/dining room and separate kitchen. 2 large patios suitable for eating/drinking outside with one at the front and one at the back so that the sun is on the back in the morning and on the front in the evening. Easy walking distance to all the Aix shops, festival events and restaurants. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Home Away from Home!
It was a privilege to live in this lovely Provençal home for six weeks and watch spring unfold in the beautiful garden below. Martine HONORAT is the consummate host, attending to every need we expressed, making accommodations for unanticipated situations, ensuring that everything functioned optimally throughout our stay. We were there to work rather than to vacation, but when we had moments to see the sights we found her a wellspring of information that she graciously shared. Our one regret is that we didn’t get to spend as much time with her as we would have liked to!
The flat is indeed spacious and very comfy with antique furnishings but newer mattresses and fine linens. We had family visiting at various times during our stay, with up to four adults sharing the house quite comfortably. There is a double bed (not a queen) in the back (east) bedroom, a twin in the small room just next to that, and two twin beds in the front (west) bedroom that can be made into a king. The arched windows and doorways throughout are very attractive, and the heavy wooden front door with its 1930s iron work is just exquisite. We enjoyed the flat screen television and its 3 HDMI inputs. Our ROKU brought from the States worked flawlessly, and if you are a subscriber, Netflix offers a nice selection of French movies and television shows. The WiFi is strongest in the living room, making streaming on various devices unproblematic.
The parking space outside the garage is shared, so if you are going to have a car, be prepared to coordinate comings and goings with Martine. She made this a perfectly painless process for us, for which we were most grateful. Also, be aware that the gate is sized for smaller cars. We switched from a rather wide Peugeot 2008 to a smaller 308 partway through our stay and found the later much easier to maneuver. Except for those days when you want to go out of town, a car is really not necessary. Most everything one could want to see or do is within a 10-20 minute walk, and there is very regular bus service for getting from one side of town to the other. There are two car rental agencies (Sixt and Europcar) just a few minutes’ walk from the house on the Boulevard de la République.
Just to clarify one little thing we were expecting to find because of the earlier reviews: There is now no dryer. Laundry must be hung on the folding enameled metal rack which can be moved from one terrace to the other to follow the sun.
Merci infiniment, Martine!

Wonderful home away from home.
The home in Aix is beautiful with lots of room to spread out. It is decorated in classic French style with antiques and most amenities a visitor would need. Washing machine, drying rack, iron and ironing board. The kitchen was very complete, so cooking was easy. Cookware, tableware and even some spices. The large terraces were pleasant to sit on or for drying clothes. The gardens are beautifully cared for with blooming plants to lend color. Martine the owner is a charming cultured lady. She is available but not intrusive. We even went on an afternoon adventure to the Luberon one day. Center Ville is about 15 min walk, some of it through a beautiful garden. Two girlfriends stayed with me for 2 weeks. There's plenty of room for 3 but I would suggest a mirror in each bedroom so the 'girls' could put on makeup or blow dry hair and not need to be in the bathroom for these things. Over all I would strongly recommend Martine's home for a peaceful stay. I would go back again. Thanks Martine.

This house was a home away from home!
My husband and I rented the house from Martine and had family guests who stayed a total of two weeks of our three-week stay. The house is large by European standards with three bedroom: one with a king bed, one a queen and the third had a twin bed. All bedrooms had more than ample storage space and large windows to let in the glorious Aix sunlight. The one bathroom consisted of a large shower, ample sink and surround with the toilet. It also had a nice window to let the shower steam out even though there was also an exhaust fan. Storage in the bath was more than adequate for five people. For those who use wash cloths, those were provided also as were bath and hand towels. The kitchen was fine for our needs with a four-burner stove and oven which we used only occasionally to cook a few dinner. Pots and pans, dishes, utensils for cooking/baking were also plentiful. I would suggest buying some plastic wrap/aluminum foil if you like to cover any leftovers with those, however, storage for leftovers was provided. An upgrade on the coffee maker would be an asset. The living room/dining room were spacious and very comfortable. I greatly appreciated the family heirlooms in the dining room. They were quite lovely and added to the ambience. If you like TV, there is one in the living room offering basic French-speaking channels. We didn't miss not having English-speaking ones, however, since we were always out to the center of Aix which was only a ten-minute walk away. Some great restaurants in Aix are Mitch (ate two dinners here), La Bouchee (ate three dinners here!), Il Etait use Fois (two dinners), Le Petite Verdot, L'Opera, and Le Bouddoir. If you have a car, you're in luck because parking is included. You will also be able to drive to many different, wonderful sites such as the Gorge;, Loumarin, Bonnieux, Gordes (the prior three are Peter Mayle country!); Sainte Victoire--great hikes of varying degrees of difficulty; Marseilles--see the coastline; Nice, etc. The owner, Martine, is one of the best assets to this rental. Martine lives below, but she is only helpful--very helpful--but never intrusive. I want to mention the front and back terraces, also, since you can enjoy breakfasts on the back terrace and have the sun and evenings on the front terrace with sun (or not as there is an awning which you can employ). The street, by the way, is very quiet. I'd love to go back soon. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Martine!

Excellent
An excellent location (near the hospital) in Aix- - a 5 minute walk ( through Place Vendome garden) to the old town and its markets and shops. Peaceful, well- equipped house. Parking included, and just a little tricky to get in the gate with a big car. The house was clean, with rosé and orange juice in the fridge, and staples in the cupboard.
An amazing lunch, if you have a car, is the 1-star restaurant at the Restaurant Estevan, at the hotel and spa, Le Loge(?) Unbelievable view of Mont St. Victoire. Ask the concierge about the nearby walk down the road.
I definitely recommend this house, and Aix- en- Provence in general.
