Villa Suro is a spacious property with secure garden which is ideally suited to family groups perhaps consisting of two families with a total of 8 persons (one additional child only to total of 9 persons).
It has a well maintained 8 x 4 metre swimming pool and surrounding patio area with a secure parking and enjoys fine views of the Mediterranean Sea, local vineyards, the beautiful Les Gavarres Hills and surrounding countryside.It is situated in a semi rural quiet location on a recently fully refurbished urbanisation with now has new roads and pavements throughout.
It is easy walking distance into the medieval centre of Calonge and is just 4kms (10 minutes drive) to nearest beaches at Sant Antoni de Calonge.
There is a included free powerful Wifi system within the property.
The interior open plan living area design is spacious.
The bathroom and wet room is modern and fully tiled with modern Roca bathware.
Each bedroom is fully air conditioned.
The kitchen and dining area is fully equipped for self catering within the house or alfresco dining on the roof terrace or around the table and seating around the BBQ area. There are amazing views of the beautiful surroundings from the roof terrace or from the first floor outside balcony of the main building accessed via the open plan living area. Also brilliant for star gazing on a clear night.

Palamos and Torre Valentino in just 10 to 15 minutes drive. Slightly further at around 20 minutes drive is La Fosca (our favourite), Platja D' Aro, S'Agarro and Sant Felieu.
As you can see there are numerous spaces to spend quiet periods or to join in the main group fun as suits your mood. All of the beautiful scenery
The swimming pool / patio area is gated for safety of small children and the pool is entered by corner roman steps. The pool is 8 x 4 meters size and is 1 metre deep at one end and 2 metres at the other. There is ample lighting around the pool for late evenings as required.
The gardens with palm trees ,large lemon tree, various other plants and pool are well maintained throughout the year.
The villa has undergone a complete internal modernisation in recent years including bathrooms, bedrooms, a spacious modern open plan living area with a well equipped kitchen and dining area with a fully fitted kitchen complete with granite worktops, Miele Oven, halogen hob, Bosch dishwasher, large family sized Bosch fridge/freezer and washing machine.
All windows and doors are aluminium double glazing. The window frames have retractable mosquito nets fitted in bedrooms and bathroom. The windows are also tilt and turn. The doors have high security locks fitted.
The property is fully air conditioned for those hot summer months in the living space. All four bedrooms were fitted with new Daikin air conditioning in April 2023 which are very energy efficient, quiet and effective.
There is a fully monitored Securitas alarm fitted for peace of mind. It should be noted this is a low crime area.
We have been renting through Homeaway and now VRBO (on takeover) since 2007 and consistently receiving a total of 43 very favourable reviews from clients over the period 2007 to present with an average of 4.8 out of 5 stars. This tends to suggest Villa Suro has been tried and tested by previous clients and found to be a great place to enjoy your family holidays. We also have a number of repeat bookings. There are coastal walks throughout the whole area. The vibrant family friendly and wonderful town of Palamos is just 15 minutes drive from us with its charming old town, beaches, fish restaurants and tapas bars.
The nearest supermarket is 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes by car.
The medieval town of Calonge with castle and town square with a few bars and eating places is 15 minutes walk from us. There are established hiking and cycle routes from Calonge. Cycle hire is also possible.
Girona is around 30 minutes drive and we are just 120kms from fabulous Barcelona. Both locations are steeped in history and culture.
The area is very popular with national and road cycling routes. We have garage facilities to keep securely all cycles and golf equipment.
There are several good quality golf courses within 40 minutes drive of the villa. The nearest being Club Golf D'Aro Mas Nou which is 15 minutes drive. PGA Catalunya, Girona at 30 minutes drive.

We so enjoyed our time in this villa - the whole layout worked really well for our mixture of adults and children - we could even put the early riser and Mum upstairs and the rest downstairs!

Only improvements could be two pillows on the beds and a bottle of water in the fridge on arrival just to see you through until you can get to the shops.
The pool was exactly the right size and super clean. Good number of umbrellas for shade and the sail type thing over the outside table. Good number of lunge chairs.

We loved the village of Calonge with the old castle and buildings. Friendly kind shopkeepers and restauranteurs.

We arrived at the villa after spending a couple of hot busy days sightseeing in Barcelona. We called into the local supermarket (loads of them close by) we then found the villa easily and soon settled in. Loads of space for our family of 6 ( kids 18 years - 12 years. )The pool is amazing and there are so many places to sit in the sun or the shade. The villa has everything you need in the kitchen. We visited some amazing places Tossa de mar and paddle boarded at Cala S’Alguer. The kids loved the water park and according to my boys the best pizza ever at Palamós Pizzeria L’Arcobaleno di Francesca. You do need a car but if you like somewhere away from the crowds this is the perfect place to base yourselves. So much more to explore, we will definitely be back.

Villa Suro was a great place to stay for an extended family ranging in age from 14 to 75. The layout of the villa is a little quirky with most of the bedrooms on the ground floor but this means you get great views across to the coast from upstairs and cool rooms for sleeping in (we were there in August and didn’t miss a/c in bedrooms as they are naturally cool and have electric fans). The kitchen is well-equipped, the pool area is fantastic and there are many different places to sit / eat / play cards and games.
Calonge itself is a small and interesting town with a pretty square and good Thursday market easily walkable for most. A car is needed to get to the beach which is large - loads of space - beautiful clean sand and safe for swimming. There are also some lovely coves further along the coast.
Richard the owner and Janice the house manager were both very responsive to our texts / queries with a couple of minor things being sorted straight away, we couldn’t have asked for more!

Nous avons passé un magnifique séjour dans cette villa, située dans un quartier calme avec une belle vue et pas trop loin des commodités.
La villa est propre et très bien équipée, il y avait tout ce dont peut avoir besoin pour un agréable séjour. Nous avons profité de la piscine qui est très très bien orientée, grande et propre.

Net terug heerlijke vakantie in deze villa. Waren met 2 gezinnen. Contact met eigenaar super. Villa was schoon, van alle gemakken voorzien, heerlijk zwembad en prachtig uitzicht. Een aanrader. Heb alleen een loungeset of lekkere terrasstoelen gemist. Erg fijn dat na week hele villa wordt schoongemaakt en voorzien van nieuw beddengoed en handdoeken. Mooie omgeving, auto nodig. Fiets kan ook maar laatste stuk naar het huis aardige klim.

Avons passé 2 semaines très agréables. Le village et les alentours sont pittoresques avec beaucoup de jolies balades à faire. La maison correspond parfaitement à la description sur l'annonce et est parfaitement équipée. Les enfants ont apprécié la piscine. We loved our summer vacation in the Villa Suro.
From the house, you can reach wide sand-beaches but as well small coves with rocks, ideal for snorkeling and to admire underwater life.
In the afternoon we enjoyed the pool that is surrounded by a beautiful garden with palmtrees and other exotic plants from the region.
The house has all you need in everyday life. The bedrooms are of good size and we were surprised how the house keeps the cool under the warm Spanish sun. We basically switched on the air-conditioning for just a couple of hours only on some very hot days.
The owners installed an alarm surveillance by a remote center which makes you feel safe.
The contact with Richard was very friendly and pleasant and we felt well taken care of.
We felt like at home and would surely consider Villa Suro again for a future holiday.

The interior is clean, spacious and very well appointed. We also made the most of the different outdoor spaces, from the 360 degree view from the roof to the lovely well maintained swimming pool.
The area has much of interest including lovely beaches not too far away.
Richard was always on hand by email or phone, and was very helpful. He and Mary provided much useful information on the area, which is just what you need when you are visiting somewhere for only one week.

Relaxed family holiday
What a great place, we loved the house with all the wonderfully different outdoor spaces we made use of them most mealtimes and evenings. The house was comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything necessary for cooking all the lovely seafood available locally. The pool was a great hit with the children and the sea views from the balconies we're the adults favourite.
Lots to see and do locally, good food shops and markets and lovely local beaches made this a very enjoyable holiday.
We were very impressed by Richard's friendly and helpful emails and phone calls. Everything was well organised and extremely informative, with photos, instructions and recommendations that enabled us to feel at home straightaway.

Sanctuary
Having been able to take my 2 year old grandson on holiday after he had been in isolation after BMT .! A perfect respite for my wife,my daughter,son-law and our 4 granddaughters. A perfect home from home with sun and extras.Close to the beach! plus a little bit of education Barcelona and DHALI. Very special and a pool he has learned to swim in, could not have hoped for more.

Lovely Villa
Just returned from a fabulous week in this lovely villa. Very well equipped and clean. Safe gated pool area - we had 4 adults, 1 teenager and 4 children ranging in age from 16 months to 6 years - all of whom enjoyed the pool. The view at breakfast from the roof top patio was particularly pleasant.
There was lots to do in the area and exploring was helped by the very useful guide provided by the owners - thanks Richard and Mary.

Amazing villa
What a villa, what a location. Faultless in every way. The villa has EVERYTHING you need for a home away from home. We were 4 adults and 4 children, everyone was fully entertained and catered for. The villa is spotlessly clean, light and airy. We were there is late July/early August but the heat was not a problem. The swimming pool was just fantastic, a real selling point. The quietness of the location was also excellent.
Location wise couldn't have been better for day trips and local amenities were also second to none.
This was our first villa holiday and we spent a lot of time researching places. On choosing Villa Suro, Richard was such a great source of info and always answered queries promptly. We would highly recommend everything about Villa Suro and would definitely return if going back to the area.

Super Vila
We stayed at Vila Suro for 2 weeks in June 2011. We were 4 persons - two of them teenagers. The description of the Villa and all details got by the owner were a 100% correct and very detailled. Let's say - perfect. The pool is great and has a nice view to the ocean, even when it's night. Supermarkets are nearby. I can recommend this property for families and also for parents who are on vacation with teenagers. Barcelona is a one day trip away. No problem to go there by car, but be careful with your wallets. It was a perfect stay at an excellent house with nice pool area.

A Simply Charming Place to Stay!
What a simply charming place to stay! We rented the villa for a week in April 2011, and invited our daughter and family, (husband plus two girls, 7 and 9), and my wife’s brother and girlfriend to stay with us. We had an amazing barbecue when our other daughter and family, (husband plus three boys, 2, 4, and 6) and my brother and wife all joined us for the day. Villa Suro is a great place for a family gathering. The children enjoyed collecting leaves from the pool, (why do it yourself when you have got willing helpers?!!), swimming, and playing quietly together.
The location is ideal for families, but a car was very useful. In the mornings I sometimes walked down to the local supermarket for fresh bread, and back, up the quite steep track, but it kept me fit! (About twenty minutes return walk). Larger supermarkets are only five minutes drive away. We visited Palamos, about ten to fifteen minutes drive, and did two well worthwhile cultural visits, one to Figueres to see the Salvador Dali museum, which was fascinating, and the other to Barcelona, where the highlight was a visit to the Sagrada Familia cathedral. I am not a culture vulture, but I would thoroughly recommend this latter. Amazing, spectacular, doesn’t even begin to describe it.
We found it interesting that we were in the heart of Catalunya, where the first language is Catalan. However they do usually understand Spanish.
Eating out is definitely worth doing, although we did enjoy having barbecues at the villa. I think our favourite restaurant was the Can Tia. This does also have the advantage of being within walking distance from the villa, although the walk back, up Carrer del Moli de Vent (Windmill Street), sorts the men from the boys!
We liked the hassle-free stay very much. Richard and Mary emailed us instructions on how to get there, and how to get into the villa. It was all easy to follow, and from the moment we arrived it was like being at home. No visits from anyone to check that we were doing the right thing, and we were being treated responsibly to use the villa as though it was ours. (I wish!!!).

Villa Suro is a super place to stay
We were thoroughly satisfied with the splendid accommodation and to have the roof terrace with wonderful views in every direction was a real bonus. The villa is handy for restaurants and supermarkets (but you need a car) and near to some interesting places. We particularly enjoyed the coastal drive to Tossa and the little bays and beaches to the North of Palamas. We climbed the walls in Girona and the view over the old city is spectacular.
This comfortable villa has everything you need for a great holiday.

Villa Suro in late October
Taking advantage of the ridiculously cheap Ryanair flights we booked this last minute holiday taking my 86 year old Dad and three teenage children. The Villa was beautiful - a real "wow" factor when we pulled up outside then explored inside. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom turned out to be ideal for Dad while the downstairs bedroom and wet room were well appointed and spacious for the rest of us. Never having been to this part of Spain before I found the instructions and advice within the Villa extremely informative and assisted us plan our day trips, visit the local village shops and markets. Similarly tips on the local restaurants proved invaluable; our favourite being in Hotel Trias on the sea front in Palamos. A wonderful 3 course menu del dia for 10 Euros (including wine) followed by a stroll on the beach.
Callela Palafrugall, about 15 minutes drive from Villa Suro, was an outstandingly beautiful stretch of coast with chrystal clear sea overlooked by countless quaint restaurants. The views from the Light House at San Sebastian awsome. You could even see the snow capped Pyrennes in the distance.
Figures and Roses were beautiful places to visit and ofcourse Barcelona where apart from the cultural bits my sons particularly enjoyed the trip around the FCB's CampNou.
A drive along the coast road from Tossa to Palamos with the countless parking places is outsanding.
The weather was beautiful with maximum temperatures around 23 degrees most days which for the last week of October was great, We made use of the patio areas for beakfasts and lunch under the sunshine. Dad loved the roof patio watching the bats in the evening - and drinking the occasional San Miguel.
All the family loved the Villa and the kids used the pool everyday. Unfortunately the week went by far too quickly. Thanks Richard and Mary for providing a wonderful home for the week. We hope we will be back!

Our week in Calonge
After a bit of difficulty in finding the Villa,we arrived as it was starting to get dark,the instructions on obtaining entry were clear and we were inside in a trice.There was even a bottle of bubbly in the 'fridge.The children in our party loved the pool and at times even let the adults use it!.There were even some pool toys and li-lo's to use.There is a good restaurant,Rio d'Oro,within walking distance it is not expensive,the service is good and the food is wonderful!Within ten minutes drive there are plenty of good restaurants if you really don't feel up to doing a BBQ The local supermarkets are well stocked and very reasonable.We would certainly go back to this property...but for a longer stay!

We have been renting villas/apartments for 7 people and getting there under our own steam for 10 years now starting when the kids ranged from 0 to 12. My wife, I and the "kids" agree however that Villa Suro was the best ever.
It's difficult to single out a specific reason why, but it was a combination of the location, the views, the pool, and the excellent accommodation.
If my wife had her way I would be negotiating to buy it off you right now !!
The information pack that you sent us was spot on and we used many of the restaurants that you recommended. Our particular favourites were La Salsa and the hotel Castell d'Emporda. Having young adults in tow meant that we also enjoyed the Mafia themed El Pardrino pizza restaurant in St Antonio, on the front to the left. However in reality we ate out every night and didn't have a bad meal.
The beaches at La Fosca and Lla Franc were fantastic as was the view from the lighthouse at San Sebastian and the restaurant at Romanya de Selva.
But the best bit was the Villa itself where we spent most of our time lounging by the pool with a book. The views were terrific, the accommodation fantastic, with lots of places for a family of 7 to retreat when they fall out, and re-join to make up or just merely get out of the sun for a few minutes. The beds were excellent quality with proper cotton sheets instead of the cheaper stuff you normally get. The layout of the kitchen, which we used for breakfast every morning was particularly good.
My wife and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll down and back up the track and "Mount Kilimanjaro" every morning to get the fresh bread from the supermarket, whilst the kids slept. It wasn't easy, but it was great exercise.
I really don't have a negative thing to say, and at the moment am currently considering whether we want to book in advance for next year. My only reservation right now is how many of the "kids" will still want to go on holiday with Mum and Dad and/or whether they will want to bring boyfriends/girlfriends.

An excellent place to stay
The condition of this property really is excellent and it has great flexibility whether you are looking for a family holiday or a relaxing break. We stayed in Villa Suro for 2wks during Easter 2008. We visited all the resorts along the coast and went to Barcelona for a day trip on the train. Our party of 6 comprised of my parents-in-law, my self, my wife and our two boys (aged 6 & 8) and we had a very relaxing holiday. Flights from the UK to Girona are quite cheap and the airport is only a short car ride away. The beach is within 15mins drive along quiet roads. A small supermarket is only 5 mins away for forgotten essentials but the larger, value-for-money Carrefour supermarket is around 15mins drive, near to the beach, which is ideal if you need to pick something up o the way home.
