About this house rental
We invite you to come and 'get-away' for a week (or two) at this cozy home located on a 1/2 acre of lakefront property and situated at the end of a quiet residential street. Our summer cottage is family owned and operated and we believe in greeting all of our guests and making you feel right at home.
'Little House on the Lake' is the perfect retreat for a small family or adults vacationing together. A beautiful view of Lake Erie can be seen just out the front door and the large open yard is perfect for various summertime activities. Docks are also available to rent for our boat owning guests. They are located within walking distance from the home as well as a free public boat ramp less than 2 minutes away. Not a boat owner? Don't worry, we are also conveniently located between the many boat ferries if you choose others to navigate the sea for you.
A better location for summertime fun cannot be found! Our 'Little House on the Lake' is only a few miles from the famous Marblehead Lighthouse. We are also close to area beaches, restaurants and 'Monsoon Lagoon' the most cost effective outdoor waterpark around. It takes approximately 30 minutes for our guests to get to Cedar Point & Soak City by car and the Erie Islands; Kelley's, Middle Bass, South Bass (Put-in-Bay) and Pelee by boat.
If you need a break from the Lake, why not go shopping? Local businesses offer some other great catches as well. We are 5 minutes from the quaint downtown city of Marblehead which features numerous little specialty shoppes. Shop while you walk along side a beautiful view of the Lake. The quiet and relaxing Lakeside community is also within an arm's reach of our place. Hours can be spent enjoying the countless activities going on inside their gates.
Fishermen: check out the 'Western Basin' known for the most productive fishing on the Great Lakes. Walleye, Perch and Bass can be caught in large numbers throughout the year. Many of our guests have caught their fill of fish without even leaving the front yard! Sunbathers or swimmers: if you are brave, jump into the water & sandy area right in the front yard or visit the nearby beach if you prefer for plenty of fun in the sun.
Activity seeking visitors: play a game of volleyball or golf, hike, run, boat or just site see and take in the many beautiful sights of this region. Tastetesting folks: fill your bellies with a different kind of food every night - Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, vegetarian or visit the steak houses, sports bars, fish and chips spots, wineries, mom and pops homemade food joints or even the beloved chili dog and ice cream quick stop. For the rest of you: just kick back, relax and enjoy a good book by the water's edge.
We must note - if you are looking for fancy, we are not the place for you. If, however, you want something clean, quiet, cozy and relaxing... we are just that. We also realize that during hard economic times most folks do not have money to throw around. Instead of charging some outrageous price for the week like many others do, we offer our home at a very reasonable rate. We encourage you to go ahead and compare... we bet you will not find another house on the water with so much to do at such a low price. This is why we believe many of our guests return again and again.

A hidden cottage that had a nice location. Convenient to The ferries to Put-in-Bay and Kelly’s island. Super nice beach only 15 minutes away. And not far from Cedar Pount. Appreciate deeply allowing the 🐶. Hosts were very kind. Regret not fishing or boating. Thank you!

The house is in a beautiful location, great for fishing. We caught several nice largemouth bass right from the edge of the property. We also rented 2 docks from the neighbor that were only about 40 yards from the house. The hosts, Jackie and Darin, are wonderful, down to earth people and easy to deal with. The house itself was a little awkward. You have to go through the only bathroom to get to one of the bedrooms which made it a bit strange but with our group we made it work. We didn`t spend much time in the house except to sleep and the beds leave a lot to be desired. That is the one thing I hope for the most wherever we travel, is a comfortable bed. All that said, we had a great time.

This property is great! It’s not all new and fancy which means you can walk in and feel right at home. Kick off your shoes and walk to the little man made beach and stare at the water! During the week it’s very quiet and relaxing. Close to everything like restaurants and shops as well as state parks!
The owners are kind and the neighbors are nice.

Only negative was size of bathroom sink. I couldn't use it. The owners were great and treated us nicely.

We felt very comfortable here, just like home. It is older has character and history, we like that type of place. The size of the yard gave us space to walk our dogs around and not feel like we were on top of our neighbors. We enjoyed the view of the water as we sat on the porch and beach area watching the sea birds and wildlife. It's in a great location and an easy drive to all sightseeing activities and restaurants. We've already talked about going back!

Had a wonderful week at this adorable cottage on the best piece of property in the marina! The accomodation was exactly as described and the owners, Darin and Jackie, run the place like a well-oiled machine. Could not have asked for more! If you're looking for a quiet, private little getaway, I would definitely recommend this spot!

The cottage was exactly as described and perfect for our family's week away. The cottage has everything you need and the full kitchen is easy to cook full meals in. The location is perfect since it is minutes from Marblehead, Port Clinton, and East Harbor State Park. The lake breeze was great and kept the cottage cool, but there is a good AC unit when we needed it. We hope to go back next summer.

Little house on the lake
We had a great time. We come to Lakeside every year for a conference for my husband’s work. We have stayed in several cabins through out the years and this was one of the best. Jackie and Darin were very easy to get a hold of, if needed, and very friendly. We had a lovely stay. Thanks!

Loved staying here. The kids loved fishing and paddle boating. We had lots of fun and would recommend it to others.

We enjoyed our week at the little house on the lake. The scenery was quiet and refreshing. There is a dock where you can sun or fish and a small sandy area for kids to play or where you can use the fire pit. The water in front of the cottage is perfect for canoeing or paddle boating and has easy access to the larger part of Lake Erie. The floors and bedding were clean. There were a lot of areas beside, behind and under that could use more attention. I would suggest that you bring additional linens, towels and washcloths. We chose to use the option of having the linens and towels provided ($50) but had to go to the laundry mat to get through the week (there were three of us). There were no linens for the futons. Cottage needs some updating (windows, screens and doors, etc). The kitchen and appliances are tiny but functional. The bathroom sink is a little challenging. The internet service is good. There is a covered porch at the front of the house that is great for morning coffee. We had a nice relaxing stay. It would have been helpful to have had an informational sheet regarding where things were located, how to use the tv and internet (password), what to do with garbage, where to find keys for the doors, contact phone numbers, etc. I was able to get the needed information by contacting or texting the owner but a quick handy reference would have been great. Overall, it seems the little house by the lake is a great for accommodating vacationers who desire a fishing/water-sport cottage with easy access to Lake Erie.

A little slice of Paradise...
We rented the Little House on the Lake for a family reunion two weeks ago and it was perfect. The huge yard, fishing out front, fire pit in the midst of the sandy area, comfy porch furniture, and the view made for many "it doesn't get much better than this" moments.

Value and convenience
Great location, dogs loved it, and we must have caught 50 fish between us all week just from the edge of the property. Tiny kitchen fridge but as long as you bring a cooler for your beverages it’s a short drive for ice to keep it replenished :)

Great little getaway place on the lake.
Just returned home from a week-long stay at The Little House on the Lake. Very relaxing, lots to see and do in the area. Great restaurants, quaint little shops, plenty to keep you busy. Jackie and Darin were awesome hosts! Any concerns we had were quickly addressed and they were always willing to help with questions or reccomendations on places to eat or shop. Great place to come and recharge your batteries!

Charming Lake Cottage
I loved this super cute Lake Erie cottage. This is quintessential East Harbor. Peaceful and serene, outstanding yard where you will spend your time with family and friends. My fiancé and I brought our old wooden boat and due to rough weather we were unable to take it out. Not a problem because there is so much to see and do. The owners are genuine and accommodating.

We'd go again in a minute.
While staying at this snug retreat we enjoyed picnics on the lawn with family and friends. There was plenty of room and plenty to see but we felt. " private". The marina was a fun source of entertainment. Watching all the activity was both interesting and relaxing. Nearby beach was just right. The cottage was cozy and comfy and we had everything we needed. Lots of available local day trips. We'd go again in a minute.

Relaxing vacation and perfect location!
My family has stayed at the "Lil House on the Lake" for as long as it has been available to rent. It is so relaxing. We love it as we have stressful jobs and it's great to visit this relaxing retreat in a fantastic, convenient location. It is clean, quiet, and perfect to get away from it all. Our kids love this lake house! Very convenient location to the ferries, Sandusky, and Port Clinton. My husband and kids love fishing - perfect little place. LOVE IT! Highly recommend this property! The owners are very pleasant to work with as well.

Little House on the Lake
We stayed at The Little House on the Lake in late August. Such a cute cottage rental. 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds. Nice clean bathroom & shower. Our little dog(most places don't allow dogs) just loved the big front yard. Great piece of property with a very nice view of Lake Erie. We really enjoyed the beach area with chairs on the wooden dock. So peaceful sitting out there.(we don't fish but could have easily from there). We were very close to grocery stores, and found lots of things to do. Our stay was very memorable and we would stay there again. The owners were very kind and friendly.

Nice quiet getaway close to the fun coast
I stayed here a little while ago and really enjoyed it. I stayed for a week and had my dog with me. The cottage is clean and well supplied. There were even condiments like salt and pepper in the kitchen already. It was a bit much for just a single person but at the time it was perfect for me. This is a place I'll come back to and bring my family with me next time.

Quaint Retreat!
We have vacationed at Little House on the Lake for the past 15 years. It is quaint, comfy, and clean. It offers wonderful views of the lake and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Being boaters, we love the location for it's easy access to the lake! The front yard and fishing out front is awesome. The property is very close to all local attractions yet offers total tranquility when you just want to relax! The hospitality and graciousness of Darin and Jackie is second to none!

Perfect Getaway!
We came up for the weekend with my daughter and a couple of her friends for her birthday. It was such a beautiful setting- gorgeous lake, huge yard, and the cute, quaint interior of the cottage. It was the perfect size for the 7 of us.
My children and their friends had a blast! We used the paddle boat, made a fire, and just had a lot of fun!
Jackie was so hospitable, helpful, and kind to us. There were tons of fun nearby activities for us to do- Monsoon lagoon, Cedar Point, and Lakeside all within 20 minutes of the cottage. Our stay went by way too quickly!
The local stores and townspeople were also so kind to us as well. We will most definitely be back again! It was an amazing time!
Thank you!!!

'Lil' House was Lots of Fun
This is a great cottage for a Lake Erie vacation. Our family had a wonderful time staying at this cottage and visiting the islands, amusement parks, and local beaches. The cottage is located on a harbor inlet with a huge yard, small sandy beach, fire pit and peddle boat. The owners were most accommodating and the house was very clean. We had one minor issue and the owners came to remedy the problem in about one hour. The house has everything you'll need like kitchen items, tv/dvd beach toys, flashlights, candles and tiki torches. The bathroom and kitchen are a little small but that shouldn't matter to anyone thinking about staying at this cottage. You can't beat sitting on the adirondack chairs looking out at the harbor and Lake Erie. You'll love grilling out and eating on the picnic table shaded by a glorious oak tree in the front yard. I would recommend this cottage for the reasonable price, great location, water view and nice owners.

We just returned from our family vacation at Darin and Jackie's lakefront cottage. What a great week we had!! The owners were both personable and friendly. Within minutes of our arrival, they had invited my husband, myself and our teenage boys out on their beautiful boat for a ride!! What an added treat that was for us all!! The cottage had everything we could have needed for the week, with lots of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The lakefront location of the cottage was both peaceful and relaxing. Even our dog enjoyed it!! We were only about 25 min. from Cedar Point, which was great for us!! There are also lots of other things to see and do in and around Lake Erie. I would recommend it to anyone heading to the Ohio/Lake Erie area!! Thanks again for a great time!!
