You could not get a better location. Going to sleep to the sounds of the waves. A lovely home with everything we needed!

Hope to return next year.

We were a group of 9 friends who hired Sundial House for a weekend having seen it on a previous location.
Stunning location with great access to the beach and town.
Some of the furnishings are quite worn but we loved sitting by the windows looking out over the sea. Lovely atmosphere in the kitchen and dining area.
Some of the sleeping arrangements are ‘interesting’ ie, 2 double bedrooms both access a bathroom, so you need to share with people you know quite well. This was not apparent from the website.
Also, one of the showers wasn’t working. Mark was very helpful but couldn’t fix it, so we shared 1 shower between us all which required some coordination.
Had a great time exploring Lyme with a fossil walk, dinner at Tom’s, a spot of shopping and tastings at the microbrewery.

Fantastic location, so much to do and see, just a short walk from the front door. Quirky layout, but we enjoyed the terrace at the front to watch the world go by below!

This is our 3rd stay at Sundial House, and we love it. It is unique, quirky, and in the most amazing position. There are always maintenance issues, but it is an old listed property so only to be expected. Sitting on the front terrace or the dining room looking out over the beach and the sea is wonderful.

Very nice holiday let. Setup to sleep 9 people. Beautiful views and centrally located to everything in Lyme Regis. This house was so cool from the outside, everyone walking by took a picture of it.
Will return again.
Cost is above the average but it was worth the memories.

Beautiful house in a perfect spot
We had the best Christmas at Sundial. Mark decked the house out to make it Christmassy for us and always responded immediately. The house has a few stairs and some quirky rooms but it adds to it’s fabulous charm. The sea swell was big when we stayed and it was pretty amazing watching the brave winter surfers whilst eating breakfast. The location is great and allowed are large group to come and go and do their own thing. Lyme is a beautiful town and carols around the Christmas tree were very special. If you love the Jurassic coast and fossil hunting this is the place for you. There is a great cafe near the front door of the house and Hix seafood restaurant in Lyme is a must. Could not recommend Sundial more highly. Thank you

Sundial “Regis”
If there is a better location in Lyme Regis then I couldn’t find it. Sundial house has terrific , unrestricted views of the harbour , the coast, the sea.
Comfortable, well furnished , the kitchen / dining area perfect for the family either, eating , reading the newspapers or just standing watching the continuous flow of people going from one end of the harbour to the other and back.
Perfectly located to take advantage of all Lyme’s attractions.
Thanks
Tony

Birthday weekend
The house was sheer perfection. Plenty of room for us all.
Mark was very helpful to answer some queries.
Overall it lived up to my expectations

Great short break
We stayed here as two families with children and the house was fantastic. There was plenty of accommodation for everyone and room for eating and relaxing, plus loads of cups/saucers/plates etc.. The beachside location is just fantastic and the town with shops/museums etc just a short walk away. The house itself is a bit of a one off and the views are great. If you've got small children you might want to bring a stairgate (there's 4 floors)

Striking building at a great location
Loved the arts and crafts design - would have loved something written about the history and architecture.
Wonderful harbour, beach and sea views.
Could park the car and forget about it - everywhere on foot!
Being above the busy promenade is great for people watching.
Beds comfortable.
The bathrooms were disappointing: upstairs shower too hot or too cold, the bidet tap is broken - it could all do with an upgrade. Bathrooms and toilets didn't all have curtains or blinds.
The kitchen cooking equipment could be improved and arranged. The wood fitting round the sink has broken away etc.
What a shame about the garden - needs looking after and enjoyed.

Phenomenal location and views. Lovely property
Amazing location and very central. Very comfortable and shower on ground floor was fine. Toilets/ bathroom on second floor requires agreements between family as one leads on to a bedroom. Well kitted out kitchen overall, Yorkshire tins would be handy tho! Like the glassware for wine - no ikea. Very Responsive by email/ phone/ text as made
Contact on various bits and bobs -as we left our chargers behind and managed to get them through owner. Some of the website stuff needs a amendment as they do provide towels. Would be handy to put some advice re online shopping delivery as it’s not obvious on google maps that you can park outside the property to unpack or get shopping delivered. We had some fun with Asda but it was fine in the end. Would return

Amazing property in a stunning location.
We had a lovely stay, plenty of space and very comfortable. The views are fabulous, and it is so convenient for the town, pubs and cafes and the beach. Mark was very helpful too.

An absolutely stunning property! Have never stayed anywhere quite so beautiful. What a situation!
The decor in the house was just perfect. Beautiful taste. Everything to the highest of quality. It was peaceful for a weekend retreat....wish it could have been longer. The facilities were great. It felt cosy and we were delighted that the wonderful antique shop is still open on the sea front. We will definitely return!

Great location, nicely done. Kitchen good, 2 x bathrooms awkward.
Overall, this was a great place to stay over New Year. The property has 5 bedrooms but with two of them, you have to go through a bedroom and a bathroom respectively to access. So, the property works well for people who know each other well! Very clean, and everything worked. Host Mark was quick to respond to text messages. All good.

Fabulous and quaint
We stayed here for our honeymoon after admiring the place for over 20 years.
We loved every minute of our stay so much so we booked a fourth night. It did not disappoint.
The house is amazing, full of character and so quaint.
House is clean, fully equipped kitchen which has the most fantastic sea views!
Our daughter loved sleeping in a different bed every night.
We loved the convenience of having Lyme on your doorstep, shops, restaurants and of course the beach.
A local couple kindly took our 7 year old for a swim in the sea in November, a dream come true for her.
Mark is a great host and we will definitely return.

A wonderful house to stay in.
This is the second time we have stayed in the Sundial. I think that says it all. I wrote an excellent review last year and I can hardly improve on that. There have been some minor improvements with some decorating and new curtains in certain rooms, making the house even more attractive. The two outstanding features remain - the house itself must be unique, fascinating and quirky and its position overlooking Lyme Bay cannot be rivalled. Brilliant!

Lovely Historic House in prime seafront location
Great place to unwind with the family. Nine of us ranging from 9 to 78! Great cooking facilities. Clean and tidy place. Bathroom tiles could do with freshening up with grout but our overall experience was brilliant. I have already recommended this place to friends. Lay out of room is quirky but nothing that would stop a great holiday. Great balcony from which to enjoy tea while watching the waves!
Would definitely come again!

Fantasy home by the sea!
I first saw this house on TV, ‘Fantasy Homes by the sea’, and fantastic it is! We arrived when Storm Brian was predicted and wondered what to expect. We were safe, we were dry and we had the wonderful view and sound of the sea pounding against the beach. We all loved every minute.. We had good walks along the prom and even swims in the sea from our own front door.
As you can guess, we are an outdoor family of eight but the house was a wonderful base and really made our holiday. There are eight of us, with ages falling between 11 and 75, but there was plenty of space for everyone and each could have private space if needed. The house is furnished and equipped in a very comfortable style, with everything you could wish for, and to stay in such an old and beautiful house was a pleasure and a privilege. We were even able to enjoy the little patio at the front, facing south and with the same stunning views yet relatively private. A summer’s evening sitting here must be stunning.
It is also rather nice to be in a house which attracts the attention of almost all passers by - so historic, unique and quirky - but high up and out of their way. Just quite amusing! However, there are a lot of steps, but I am the Grandma of the group....and I will definitely come back another time!
This holiday rental was a Christmas present (last year) for all my family but they are already clamouring for it to happen again.
We have all had an unforgettable time. Thanks, Mark.

Amazing house in unbeatable location; upkeep could be improved on
In terms of bricks and mortar, this house is in many ways unbeatable: a stunning historic building just yards from the beach. However, it's not inexpensive, and for the price I did feel towels should be included, along with adequate cleaning materials (don't love having to buy bin liners, washing-up liquid, dish cloths etc while on holiday). A few cosmetic upgrades could also make a big difference (blinds in the kids' bedroom were damaged; several light bulbs needed replacing; terrace clearly hadn't been swept for months, etc). A little bit more attention to detail could make a big difference!
