THE EXPERIENCE:
Oakleaf Cottage is a large and cosy house, with a woodburning stove and central heating where a warm welcome awaits you.
Our holiday home is a beautifully decorated, well maintained, large, detached house. You will find our ‘home from home’ spotlessly clean with a fully equipped kitchen, and really comfortable beds. All bedlinen and towels are provided.
Enjoy our large garden area, set in 2 acres of natural landscape and complete with a children’s swing and slide set, a baby swing and an adult’s swing seat where you can sit and watch the kids being entertained.
Create happy memories by firing up the BBQ, toast marshmallows and sing songs with a glass of wine while the sun sets in the west.
THE DETAILS:
We have three bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms plus 1 downstairs toilet.
Turf/wood open fire in the Living Room with additional central heating throughout the house.
Open Fire and all mod cons: unlimited free WIFI, SKY digital TV, Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Dishwasher, Microwave, Gas hob, Electric Oven, Central Heating and a Nespresso coffee machine.
Electricity is metered, so you only pay for what you use.
Strictly non smoking.
No pets allowed.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT OAKLEAF COTTAGE:
Gazing at millions of stars on a clear night from the swing seat at Oakleaf Cottage.
Watching how the landscape and scenery constantly changes colour during the day, at all times of the year.
Our guests love to forage for blackberries in late August and September.
Listening to our resident cuckoo in early summer, and our neighbouring grazing sheep and donkeys in the distance, which many of our guests love to hear.
Spotting the stunning Cinnabar moth in July and the bees and butterflies that feed on our wild and cultivated flowers.
During spring, wild birds delight guests on the laneway to the house and our resident Robin may greet you at the front gate. On occasion you might see a wild hare, a straying grouse, pheasant or fox in the garden. Little ones might even find a few magical fairy doors and wild toadstools if they look hard enough :)

We were comfortable and happy in this beautiful cottage just outside Westport. This vacation home is lovely, clean, and quiet. The natural setting was very relaxing and we could just pop into town for a meal or shopping. This property was perfect for all of us, young and old. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend this holiday home.

This well appointed immaculate home provided all the comforts of home for our group of golfers from the USA. The beds were SO comfortable and the separate bathrooms for each bedroom were a real bonus. The property is tucked away in the beautiful, quiet West Ireland countryside and yet is only a five minute drive from the town center. The backyard is heavenly with a wonderful view of Chroagh Patrick. Áine is an outstanding host and communicated with us every step of the way. Margaret was also very helpful with any supplies we needed during our stay. We hope to stay again at this wonderful property next year. Thanks for a wonderful week!!

We can’t thank Aine & her family enough for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home. We loved everything about it and had the most amazing time relaxing at home and using it as a base to explore Westport & surrounds. The house is beautifully decorated, is very comfortable and had everything the 4 of us needed for our 5 night stay, which we wished was longer. Aine was so helpful with checking in and during our stay. We would not hesitate to stay there again if we return to Westport.

The cottage has good links to other areas in the west of Ireland, it was a lovely comfortable home to relax in when not meeting up with our relatives. Perfection. Wonderful location. Cozy Home. Beautiful views. Well stocked with a very attentive host. This area of Ireland is magnificent. You can get lost is some of the most magical places. Spend the day wandering the wild side of Ireland with a warm and cozy home waiting for you at the end of the day. Thank you Claire for everything!

My brothers and our spouses had the privilege of staying at this lovely country home. We all had private baths and plenty of room to relax and visit. If I were to return, I would most definitely stay here again. The owner was exceptional at her communications prior to our arrival and throughout our visit. 5 stars!!

The house was perfect for a large family gathering. Lots of space in common rooms and a sun room for those who wanted some solitude. The hosts welcomed us with fresh bread and scones, a nice unexpected treat.

This property was terrific for our group- my husband and I were traveling with our grown daughters and their spouses. It was so nice to each have our own room with private bathrooms. The layout of the house was great. Very large living room with floor to ceiling windows and a fireplace. Extremely well equipped kitchen, with everything we needed to cook in and dine in. Plenty of dinnerware, stem ware , pots, utensils etc. We were so happy to have a gas grill for barbecuing steaks after a long day exploring. The large patio table and chairs were a great place for coffee in the morning, with an unbeatable view of Croag Patrick. The lawn swing also got plenty of use. The home had a large, well cared for , private yard where we spent most mornings and evenings. The location is very private, yet very close to downtown Westport. Our entire group absolutely loved the accommodations, setting, and location. We cannot recommend it enough. Our host was wonderful as well.

The house was lovely and clean, with a beautiful view and everything we needed to have a wonderful stay with friends and our adult children. We were greeted with bakery treats and a phone call with Claire, who gave us tips on things to do in the area and phone numbers for local taxis to make it easy to go into Westport in the evening. Thanks for making this a wonderful vacation!

Wonderful home located in the perfect central location in Westport just a few minutes from the center of town. The home was beautiful equipped with everything we needed. Especially the kitchen. A wonderful space for a romantic getaway or traveling with family and kids. We so enjoyed cooking lovely meals with ingredients purchased at the Sunday Farmers Market. The view from the kitchen of Croagh Patrick was absolutely gorgeous from sunrise to sunset. Just 5 minutes away and what a fantastic and challenging hike we had. Also, the drive to Achill Island was breathtaking as was Keem’s beach. Absolutely a must drive and is known to be the top ten beautiful scenic roads ever. We will be back ……Merci Claire and team for being so attentive and caring to us. Fondly, Una & Mike…..we are off to Cavan now

The best of Westport
Spacious house with three great bedrooms, large kitchen table for our big group. The backyard was perfect for the 4 kids with us, swing set and lots of grass to run in under the ever present peak of Croagh Patrick. We’d love to stay here again.

Beautiful property. Minutes from Westport town. Use Ollie as a taxis driver. Owner was fantastic in answering our questions.
Suggestions to owner: include directions regarding washer and dryer , stove, etc.
A nice touch would have been to have laundry detergent and a bottled water provided but no biggee.
This was a great place to stay!!!

Oakleaf Cottage is a beautiful home that is very comfortable and welcoming. The owners were so helpful and lovely. The home is roomy, bright with sunlight, spacious and inviting. The kitchen was fully equipped and the rooms were spacious. The gardens were beautiful with wild flowers abloom. From the backyard, a spectacular view of Croaig Patrick. We loved our stay at Oakleaf Cottage and thank the owners for making it feel just like home.

Oakleaf Cottage was exactly what was advertised. It is a 3 bedroom/ 3.5 bathroom lovely home that was spotless with all of the amenities. The views out of the living room and kitchen featured landscapes that were truly beautiful!
Our hosts, Claire, Aine, Magda and Neil were wonderful! Even a Welcome Basket with goodies greeted us from them! They were always available for us if we needed anything. And, they gave great suggestions for sightseeing!
Westport is a great area to visit when vacationing in Ireland. It was a central location for our first stop, with great sightseeing all around. One of the highlights was Croagh Patrick which is considered to be the holiest mountain in Ireland. There is a trail leading up to the summit that took approximately 3.5 hours to complete. The views were spectacular!
Not only would I recommend the Oakleaf Cottage to friends or family, I would love to return and stay here again! We thoroughly enjoyed this location, property and hosts!

Traveling as a family of 6 adults we needed a place with plenty of room. I found this listing on HomeAway and it looked great but there were no reviews. I messaged the owner and got a quick reply from Aine. They had only recently listed on HomeAway, but she offered to send me reviews from other sites they list on. The reviews were positive so we made a reservation. When we arrived at the house, Magda greeted us and explained everything we needed to know. The house was even better than the pictures. It was clean and the kitchen was well supplied with utensils and kitchen ware. We had lots of privacy. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom. We loved seeing Croagh Patrick from the kitchen window. There was a well organized binder with any information you might need for the house and the town. The trip to "downtown" was less than 10 minutes.
Aine checked in with us (via text) a couple of times during the week to make sure that all was well. We made use of the grill, chiminea and fireplace (on a cool rainy day). One bit of information for those not used to it, we needed to pay for our electricity use through a pre-paid card and enter a code into the electric meter. Not a big deal, we paid 35 euro for our week stay. Our vacation in Westport was wonderful and Oakleaf Cottage was a big part of that! We would highly recommend this rental and hope to return in the future.
