About this house rental

East of Eden is the perfect cottage for a romantic getaway or a fun-filled family vacation--in all seasons. The cottage has been impeccably restored and has it own private yard. It is a large one-bedroom, with well-equipped kitchen, full bathroom, and a beautiful open air living room with vaulted ceiling and skylights. After a beautiful sunset over Lake Michigan, come back and snuggle up with a good book next to the fireplace.

Inside and out, our cottage is the perfect retreat. Nestled amoung 100-foot tall Norway Spruce pines, it is only a block to your own private 'singing sands' beach of Lake Michigan. Union Pier beaches are the softest and widest in SW Michigan! And, it is only a block and a half to great little bakery and breakfast places, coffee and latte shops, unique restaurants and even fine dining. Or you can just stay at the cottage, sit on the front deck, grill your own favorite fare and watch the passer's by.

We are centrally located in the heart of Union Pier just off of the main road into town. Easy to get to, and easy to go to other attractions such as the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, various seasonal Art Fairs, Fruit Farms, Antiquing, or just 'Heading up the Red Arrow Highway'.

**Please note that we do have a 2 night minimum, however in the high summer season we rent mostly for one week increments from Saturday to Saturday. We do try to accommodate as many people as we can. Sometimes in the early weeks or later weeks in the summer we can accommodate less than 7 nights. Please don't hesitate to inquire if we can. Thank you.

Spent a long weekend at this cottage and enjoyed it very much. Close to the beach and walking distance to a bakery and restaurants. Definitely recommend this property for a pleasant getaway.

Not crazy about the parking, they definitely need to get a new lock on the front foor! It was a struggle to get in the house every time! No dishwasher. Could walk down a trail to the neach, but for people in their seventies, steps down to beach too difficult if carrying items! Town is cute, we did go other places to shop, nice restaurants and bakery close by and Warren Dunes ! Good antiqueing! Dogs enjoyed the walks!

Loved the quaint neighborhood, loved walking around with Hazel and enjoying all the beautiful landscape yards, also just a short walk to the quiet beach. Loved walking to get dinner. And enjoying the spectacular sunsets. Only thing I wished the cottage had was some outdoor seating to enjoy a meal after cooking on the grill. The location was awesome. Just a short drive to new buffalo and Michigan city.

The cottage is very cute. Check in instructions are very thorough and go through all the various aspects on how to use everything in the cottage. Easy walk to two public beaches and easy walk to multiple food and market options.

East of Eden exceeded expectation in many ways! The fireplace came in handy on rainy evenings. The beach walk was pleasant, and the beach was perfect. Enjoyed waving to people passing by on the deck and walking to Black Currant Bakehouse. Thank you!

This is a great property for a couple and very close to the beach. The owners are wonderful and the directions in and about the property are laid out clearly. We ate at the Red Arrow Roadhouse both nights and it was really great! So was Mario's Pizza!

Great location and a cute cottage! We loved our stay at East of Eden. Close to the lake and you can walk to several of the area restaurants. We were primarily in this area for a visit to the Indiana Dunes National Park but loved the Union Pier area.

House was as expected. Public parking in front can be a little noisy but it was quiet after the holiday. The walk to and the beach were amazing. A little yard work would make the property look a lot better but overall a nice vacation

We had a great week staying at East of Eden cottage! Loved the walking along the beach, swimming and the sunsets were so beautiful also a plus the cottage is doggie friendly.🐶 Everything is close restraunts, grocery store and a golf course.This cottage had everything that we needed and more we definitely plan on returning next year.! I cannot say enough nice things about this charming home and location. Much bigger inside than the photos depict. Getting to and from the beach was so easy, everyone is so friendly there. Felt very safe. My children and I watched the sunset each night it was stunning. Will definitely go back next summer!!! Thank you for such a great experience!!!

Immediately we were impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin. The host was very responsive to our questions. Appreciated the wagon to use to take gear to the beach. The furniture in the unit has outlived its useful life- couch is uncomfortable, the two wicker chairs inside are uncomfortable. It was surprising to us there was no table inside or out to eat at or play games. For a family of 3 we would have enjoyed being able to sit outside on the deck for breakfast.

This was perfect for our family. Myself and daughters met up with daughter-in-law and her two daughters. We six girls had a great time just lounging at the beautiful, uncrowded beach and hanging out at the quaint cottage in the evenings. We all agreed this needs to become an annual event.

What a great week. I needed some R and R. I stayed with my dog for a few days before my daughter and 2 granddaughters came at the end of the week for a few days. The beech was a 5 minute walk. They had a blast. What a great way to spend with family.

Another great stay! Cottage is always clean and relaxing. The location is a short 15 min drive to New Buffalo or St. Joseph and the neighborhood is safe and quiet. In town, for this trip, I enjoyed banana bread and great coffee from the Black Currant Bakery; a must try for everyones list in Union Pier. Another nice trip. Will return.

5 minute walk to the beach and nearby shops are 5-10 min away. The beach is gorgeous- soft sand and good view of the sunset. Owners are extremely responsive to questions or concerns. We had a concern the first night and owners were quick to resolve. Murphy bed is very comfortable. Bathroom is next to kitchen, it gets tight if you are busy in the kitchen (no dishwasher) and traffic to the bathroom.
