About this cabin rental
This secluded log cabin located in the heart of southern Vermont conveniently abuts Mount Snow and the Green Mountain National Forest. Next to the cabin, a cold water mountain stream rushes down exposed bedrock into a shallow pool. Brief immersions into the water are rejuvenating. Relax to the calming sounds of the stream from within the comfort of the screened porch while taking in views of foliage, mountains, and waterfalls from the wrap around deck. A 600' long driveway, with a frog pond located midway up, ensures a quiet and private stay surrounded by nature.
The cabin is energy efficient, modern, and comfortable yet rustic and simple in design. Whole house heating and cooling is supplied by a geothermal heat pump. A fiber line and mesh router provides fast and reliable internet throughout all areas of the home. The cabin is also equipped with a fast charging electric vehicle outlet that provides up to 40 miles of charge per hour.
Listen to music from the house audio system with in-wall speakers that connect to a phone, tablet, or computer device via wifi. Speakers are located in the great room, loft, and kitchen. Cook food quickly and efficiently on the induction stove while enjoying your favorite tunes. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and dishes.
Smart and dimmable lighting is used throughout the cabin. The 60" TV located in the basement room uses an Apple TV to provide access to Netflix and other streaming services - no cable.
The Carinthia base area at Mount Snow is accessible either by the widened shoulder along the road, or by a walking trail behind the home. Carinthia is the terrain park portion of Mount Snow with lots of rails, pipes, and jumps. Snowshoe through the back woods or ski-in to the cabin if there is enough snow in the woods. Experts only!
The forest behind the home has been conserved. Animal travel from the upland forest to the preserved wetlands and river located across the street can make for interesting wildlife viewing. Beyond the conserved woods surrounding the home is the Green Mountain National Forest where there are fishing, paddling, hunting, back-country skiing, camping, swimming, and hiking opportunities. Somerset Lake, Grout Pond, Mount Snow, Haystack, Bromley, and Stratton are all located within the GMNF.
The Valley Trail is located at the end of the cabin driveway on Handle road. This trail leads to Mount Snow and to the trail network located in the town of Dover. The Valley Trail is great for hiking, mountain biking, walking your dog, and coming soon - frisbee golf.
Historic homes, trail heads, and the Mount Snow and Hermitage Club ski resorts are located nearby on Handle Road. The Mount Snow ski resort is located 1/2 mile to the north of the cabin and the Hermitage Club is located is 2 miles to the south. Restaurants, ski lifts, lodges, bars, and shops are all easily accessible on foot or by car. The town of Dover is nearby and the town of Wilmington is a 10 minute drive from the house.
The cabin has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a loft. There is a bathroom on each floor. Two of the bedrooms each have one queen sized bed, and the third bedroom has a single bed and a bunk-bed. Every bedroom has heating and cooling, as well as a window that opens towards the waterfalls, so that you can enjoy the sounds as you sleep.
The cabin was sustainably constructed out of wood logs. It is all-electric with the exception of the clothes dryer. Grid power supplied to the home is sourced primarily by renewable energy. Drive your EV and enjoy an emission free vacation!
This cabin is ideal for travelers that want a private, modern, and peaceful place to comfortably experience nature while knowing that their stay has minimal environmental impact. I hope you have a wonderful visit to this Vermont cabin getaway. Enjoy quiet nights by the outdoor fire pit accompanied by the gentle rush of the nearby waterfalls, while tree frogs and crickets peep throughout the night.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this log cabin! It was exactly as described, sparkling clean, and incredibly comfortable. It is a beautiful property. We loved sitting on the porch, dipping in the waterfall, and just generally relaxing. It is a short drive to wilmington and west dover, and there is an access point to the lovely valley trail right across the street. It was the perfect place for a summer getaway. The host was also very communicative and nice. We hope to come back soon! Do not miss out on this wonderful house!

We stayed over the Fourth of July holiday and had a wonderful, wonderful time. The accommodations were exactly as they Advertised. The rooms were comfortable, well appointed spacious and inviting. This house is a real gem of a place to escape from the rest of the world. The grounds are beautiful. It’s extremely quiet close to everything and just a great place to go and relax. Highly recommend it well return when we can.

We had a short, wonderful stay at Michael’s place. Our GSD could have spent the entire weekend in the waterfalls. The house is clean, the bed comfortable, and the waterfall lulls you to sleep. Down the road is a consignment called Twice Blessed. It was amazing, and so organized! And the general store right down the road from the cabin is very well stocked. We will definitely return , Michaels place is a gem !

This home was perfect for our family (with dog) holiday vacation. Very close to Mount Snow and town. The house was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed.

Well appointed home, in a private location in the heart of Southern Vermont. We visited there at the end of September, and even if the weather was not cooperating, we manage to have a good, relaxing time. The house was also featuring an EV charging outlet, and we took advantage of that. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Comfortable beds, excellent stove (nest induction stovetop I’ve ever used), comfortable couches, spacious, great porches, nice tub. Just wish it rained less so we could use the fire pit but it was fun to see the change in the river. I appreciated the book of info about both the house and the area. Was an excellent stay!

My family and I really enjoyed this quiet and private home in West Dover, VT. The house was extremely clean, which gave us peace of mind. The waterfalls were beautiful and provided a tranquil soundtrack for our stay. Though we did get a lot of rain during our week here, it gave us an excuse to just relax and do nothing. And this house made that pretty easy. It took us awhile to get use to how easily sound travels in the house, but other than that, it was a fairly flawless week. The only other thing that bummed us out was we hardly saw any wildlife, just a few birds here and there. The store around the corner (one minute by car) was quite convenient. We took a quick trip to see the Robert Frost Stone House Museum in Bennington, which made for an easy, enjoyable trip to get out and about. We really appreciated how spacious the house was - there were three of us and we each had our own floor and bathrooms! We were definitely rejuvenated after our stay, and Michael was great to work with.

Wow on everything! Even the driveway is fun! Location is great. Fine dining, well stocked beer/wine market/deli, family food/arcade/bar, and a bunch of other stuff all within a mile or two. The big reservoir is 10-15 minutes away, parking was easy, wish I brought my 6 man raft, very accessible landing there. Jet skis & boats rentable. Creek near the house is gorgeous little waterfall after another. My 3 boys (9-13) and I hiked alongside it up to Mt. snow ski resort. Bugs not an issue in August. Good time! My wife liked dunking herself in the creek. Very friendly Vermonters everywhere. The house is amazing. Off the grid and on the ball. Kitchen is stocked, induction oven rocks, 3 floor audio system, nice laundry, claw foot tub, 3 baths/bedrooms. Screen porch has the view, grill fires up…I could go on. Will likely come back!

A good location with access to lots of different activities. We enjoyed visiting Hogback Mountain for its wonderful views and shopping in the very walkable downtown Wilmington. Mount Stratton and Bromley Mountains were easy drives and offered some fun summer activities including a gondola ride and alpine slide. We had fun hiking and swimming around Pike Falls and especially enjoyed the on-site waterfalls/spring hole for our very own Scandinavian spa experience. The house was comfortable and clean with a great porch. Napping on the hammock was relaxing snd the star viewing was incredible. This house was a great find!

My husband, our college-aged teen and her boyfriend absolutely LOVED Michael's mountain retreat. Besides being impeccably clean -- a MUST! for me -- there was plenty of space for us to spread out and do what we wanted to do, be that play in the waterfall, nap, read, sit on the porch and watch birds, etc. Michael communicated everything we needed to know proactively and obviously has put a lot of heart and soul into this beautiful home. Thank you, Michael, for sharing!

This is a great property! The mountains of VT are a relaxing place to unwind and nothing about this property disappointed. The waterfall was fantastic and the cold water in the pool proved refreshing - a crystal clear, clean spot to play in. The dog absolutely loved it too! The pond down the driveway was teeming with life, and was so interesting to explore. If you're going in late spring (May-June) be prepared to deal with the relentless biting black flies during the day. Some of our outdoor times were shorter than we would have liked due to the timing of our visit and the flies, but the fully screened in porch was the place to get away from them while still being outdoors. Thankfully, these flies seemed to take a break midday, are not active at night, and didn't interrupt our campfire plans. You will need to buy/bring your own wood and kindling if you intend to have a fire.

We had a fun and comfortable experience. The kitchen had everything we needed for a Thanksgiving feast. Property was secluded, but close enough to skiing, supermarket, and restaurants. Would stay again.

This was the perfect spot for all three of our family households to come together for our annual vacation. Talk about a quiet setting to disconnect, surrounded by trees and water! (Could not have imagined a better place to come to see some spectacular autumn colors in the leaves!)
The location is great for quiet reflection, reading, and connecting as a family, but has the convenience of wifi and the AppleTV to allow some relaxing with a good movie or tv binge after a day outside.
Great local restaurants and places of interest not too far away, and a nice kitchen for those evenings that we wanted to do a little cooking as a family.
I would absolutely come back this spot again in the future. Not only was the place just as described but the communication with the owner was easy, quick, and very friendly.
If you are looking for a nice retreat with the option of quiet solitude or being out and about, this is a fantastic place to have in mind.

If you are looking for clean, peaceful vacation rental then this is the place.
My family had the most relaxing AND exciting adventure while we were staying in this beautiful log cabin. There were days when we could not decide whether we were hiking, biking or just wanting to stay on the property fighting over the hammock on the porch or in the stream next to the home.
The home was immaculate the minute we walked in! The grounds were peaceful and you really never had to leave. You can hike and bike right from the property. And believe me when I say there are trails everywhere from this home. Oh, and did I also mention NATURE galore, but remember you are now in animal kingdom, so please respect all wildlife while there. You will really enjoy seeing a lot!
Our host was absolutely the nicest and easiest person to talk to and reach whenever there was a question.
The information he has left for his quests is very informative (and funny), so please make sure you read everything! He put a lot of work in to letting you know about everything...and I mean everything!
Since we have checked out, our adult children, my husband and I have not stopped talking about this gem and wonderful owner we have discovered in West Dover!!!
WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN!! Thank you for such a memorable stay at your beautiful hideaway!

We enjoyed a relaxing week at the cabin with our adult kids and our dog. We found the property to be exactly as described. There was plenty of comfortable space inside and out to enjoy this peaceful environment. We had many nearby options for hiking and kayaking during the day. Evenings were spent grilling and chilling by the fire pit in the backyard. The waterfall was a big hit with all of us, but most enjoyed by our dog Tipper!

At ease
What a great place. I was looking for a comfortable, right sized, away-from-it-all home for myself, my husband, my two sons, and our two dogs. This is perfect. The house is incredibly comfortable, including days on the balcony and nights on the screened in porch. Far back from the road, there was almost no noise in summer time. A walk across the street the wide network of trails. Enough space for two dogs to run off leash the whole time, and then cool down in the waterfall pool. The Apple TV and hvac system meant we were always comfortable. Even the linens were cozy.

Perfect Weekend Getaway
Michael’s cabin was the perfect escape for me and my friends this past Memorial Day weekend. The place was very clean, had everything we needed, and felt very secluded without sacrificing proximity to activities and restaurants. There was a guest book with tons of useful information about grocery stores and local businesses nearby, and information about the house itself (super sustainably designed and a work of art, honestly).
Michael was very attentive and accommodating throughout our entire stay - he even went out of the way to help us else over a lost key! Truly could not ask for a better host/experience. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful, special property and home!
We have stayed at this beautiful cabin numerous times in the past 4 years. This gem of a home is cozy and secluded and we value the privacy it provides. It's outfitted for complete relaxation and enjoying each other's company. The house is always pristine when we arrive, down to the new, packaged dish sponge at the sink. You don't need to bring anything, as everything is covered for a fabulous getaway. The owner is very responsive, flexible, and excellent in communicating with us. We have watched our kids grow up during our trips to this property and are thankful such a beautiful place exists. The waterfall and vernal pond are a magical place to observe how nature changes through the seasons and years. We even got to see yellow-spotted salamanders arrive to mate at the pond one spring! We have made many memories like this at this special cabin and look forward to our trips each time we return!

Horrible, Stay away!!
Horrible experience, owner could care less. STAY AWAY!
I also list rental properties on VRBO. Our family has been renting houses in the Mount Snow area for 11 years. We have done seasonal rentals, holiday weekly rentals as well as last minute stays. This was by far the most expensive nightly rate we have paid in 11 years.
The communication with the owner was very formal and unwelcoming from the start. He was concerned with us signing documents and other legal speak from the very start. This should have been a red flag.
We checked in and the place was as advertised but the situation turned into a disaster as soon as we started using the bathrooms. On the first day, less than 24 hours from checking in the bathroom began to back up with raw sewage. The shower bay over flowed with human feces and spread across the floor. We immediately contacted the owner with no response. We did our best to avoid that bathroom and try to get out on the slopes and ski.
The owner finally arrives to fix the problem himself 3 days later! The house smells so bad and we were vomiting as a result. When the owner arrives he is not apologetic, he is not concerned about us. He rambles on about technical plumbing stuff, not concerned about us on New Years Eve.
He refused to refund our money, he actually tried to add charges to us!! We had some friends come over for appetizers on New Years Eve and he wanted to charge us extra for more guests. He is money hungry and should be avoided! We had to book a hotel in Manchester at $950 per night just to salvage New Year’s Eve. We had to shorten our trip by two days and he didn’t even refund those two days that we were forced to leave. UNBELIEVABLE! STAY AWAY!

So cozy
This home was perfect for our family. We enjoyed watching movies and listening to music when we weren’t skiing: the home is pet friendly and that made it so much easier for us to be able to get away! Michael was so attentive and answered us quickly and he had an amazing house instruction book that included lots of local recommendations! Highly recommend this home!

Peaceful, relaxing home
This home is a beautiful, very clean, modern cabin. The waterfall in the side yard is amazing, as are the grounds. Listening to the sound of falls was so relaxing on wrap around deck. We enjoyed using both the indoor stove and fire pit. Close enough to hiking and towns, yet such a peaceful home at the end of a long driveway. I can't say enough about this home, we would definitely return.

Family summer trip
Cabin was well suited for the 6 adults that our family was, it has the most amazing wrap around porch which was great for morning coffee and lounging in the hammock. The waterfall was a huge bonus, peaceful, natural atmosphere.
We found the area to be perfect for our hiking, shopping and dining needs. We made great memories while we were here, loved it!!

We had such a lovely time at this beautiful cabin. Right down the street from Carinthia lodge but on a beautiful secluded lot in the woods. Beds and bedding both got A+s from everyone in our family. Lots of space for everyone to spread out. Loved it. Thank you!

Lovely cabin to see the fall foliage. The sound of the waterfall right behind the cabin is amazing. Nothing like enjoying a fire and hearing the sounds of nature. The dogs enjoyed running though the woods and exploring the property. You really won't find another one like it.

Michael's log cabin was absolutely beautiful. The property was super set back from the road and felt extremely private. The porch was amazing to hang out on and relax and the backyard was perfect to hang out by the fire. The inside of the house was immaculate - super clean and organized! Anything you needed was pretty much in the house. I would love to come back sometime in the winter, or even the Fall when the leaves are turning. The waterfall trickling next to the house was an awesome addition! We were hoping for more water, but its been a very dry season. I would definitely recommend this rental!A few notes/suggestions - if you are a light sleeper, you can hear everything in the house. I would suggest bringing a sound machine or a fan. Also, you may want to bring folding camp chairs to hang out by the fire. I also suggested to Michael that he should eventually replace the fire pit out back, as it has rotted out a bit at the bottom and coals were falling out as we were having the fire. Other than those few things, literally the house was perfect.Highly Recommended! Thanks again for hosting us, Michael!!

Beyond expectations
I can’t begin to say enough wonderful things about this property. It was clean, totally secluded the way we wanted it to be, extremely comfortable, and set on an idyllic property.
All my husband and I wanted to do was go someplace and relax with our two dogs for a few days. We got that and so much more. A few of my favorite things were that right outside our bedroom window we could hear the babbling waterfall from the creek located on the property as we slept, the awesome porch with seating and hammock where we could relax, eat our meals and read our books for hours, and lastly the property uses Smart lighting and environmentally sound sources of energy.
This part of Vermont offers plenty to do and see in spite of the COVID restrictions.
We will definitely come back and very highly recommend this property to anyone. It’s always a gamble when you rent a property only by seeing it online, and as I walked through the door for the first time and toured the home I couldn’t stop smiling at what a true gem we had come across 😊

Great cabin, great location
Our family enjoyed our time at the cabin. It was perfect for us, we have three boys (8,6 and 1) so it worked out great with the bunk room and the extra bedroom upstairs and the master bedroom on the middle level. We also loved that the outdoor porch is on the middle level - super convenient and we felt safe allowing our boys to hang there while we cooked dinner in the kitchen. And having the private waterfall and watering hole in the backyard was amazing!! 5 minute drive to Mt Snow and 15 minute drive to Stratton, great location! This was a summer vacation for us, and we look forward to coming back for a ski vacation next year! Thanks Michael for your hospitality.

Great Place
Overall, the house is extremely clean and updated with certain touches (like motion-activated lights in the house). The property itself is gorgeous and large. You can easily walk to Carinthia base in 5-10 minutes, might need more snow than this season to ski there, but imagine it's easily done normally. The host was even generous enough to allow us to stay a few extra hours on the final day (although ultimately we weren't able to), which is something you rarely see. The only critique is that the two main bedrooms include queen beds in the description, but they are full beds.

Cosy, charming and great location
The chalet was very nice and the owner was also very helpful. The house is cosy and very charming. It's location is 1' drive from the Corinthia chair lifts which makes it super convenient. I would however not plan on using the basement/ground floor open loft to sleep in during the winter as it is directly into the winter entrance + a shower in the bathroom for master bedroom would be fantastic. Other than that really perfect stay and great host.
