About this farm stay rental
The Old Farmhouse is situated in Trevarren a small hamlet near St Columb Major. Some parts of the structure are original Cornish cob. Despite its quiet location it has excellent access to Cornwall's major routes and is within a mile of local shops and a fish restaurant. The Farmhouse is furnished as a comfortable family home with a real log burner in the lounge, a large family dining area, and table tennis, table football and a mini snooker table in the games annexe. The rear garden is secluded and overlooks fields. There are 3 double bedrooms and a children's room containing 3 bunk beds. Newquay Airport is only 5 miles away with Newquay, Padstow and most north coast beaches within a 10-15 minute drive. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A FAMILY ORIENTATED PROPERTY AND WE DO NOT ACCEPT BOOKINGS FROM LARGE SAME SEX GROUPS.

Enough beds for all. Plenty of room for three generations to enjoy without being under each others feet. Well equipped kitchen. Older grandchild liked the games room and younger ones liked the garden.

Had a great time and greatly appreciate the owners allowing us to have the Easter weekend.
The house is traditional Cornish so don’t expect instagram hotel luxury or you will be disappointed, but if you want to embrace the Cornish build it is an impressive pad with plenty of parking and a great base for all of Cornwall. Thanks to Bridget, we had a great time

Great, clean and well equipped cottage. Enough parking for three big cars with a good size garden, game room which entertained us all. Beach equipments and bits allowed us to enjoy beach days every day. We would definetly recommend this plays. Fantastic for 8 adults, 4 children and a dog....the space is spectacular huge....never felt crowded and enough space for everyone to chill in their own way. Thank you to lovely owners who responded quickly to any questions we had. One think I would like to say....the duvet size wasn't as stated by owners and we brought bed sheets for double size duvet but actually there were king size duvet on double beds. Otherwise ....this place has no faults to point out.

My Family stayed at the old farm house in January, i live just down the road so it was extremely convenient for ua all to come together to celebrate my mums birthday. The house was extremely warm and comfortable, there was plenty of kitchen equipment for us to create meals in large quantities and dine all together. We all had a lovely time.

What can I say :) everything about this experience and the property was perfect for us whilst we were working. The location was perfect for us to get to site each day (less than a 5 minute drive away!) the fire for us was a highlight as it just made the property so cosy and warm. rooms were spacious and perfect for us to set up the travel cot ( the host was really helpful when we were trying to locate this) we have already said that we would look to book again in the future if we are ever back down this way.

Good base for our days out. Everything that was needed was provided, couldn't complain. The photos made the Games Room look much more spectacular than it actually was. Lovely, quiet location and the children enjoyed the run of the house.

Well equipped farmhouse and very comfortable even with 11 people across 3 family groups. Could do with some TLC and modernising but great value for money

Great property for our family Christmas celebrations. Lots of room for everyone and surprisingly warm throughout the house.

Lovely old farmhouse, great for a 3 generation get away. Could probably do with another toilet for 11 people but we managed for the week. Great cooking facilities and grandparents loved how warm the house was! Excellent location to explore Cornwall.

The farmhouse is very spacious with plenty of seating/dining areas. I was a bit confused about the bathrooms by the description but basically there is one main bathroom with toilet upstairs (shared), a separate WC downstairs and a separate shower room by the back door downstairs; the other WC is in the garage/games room which we didn’t use.
We had some lovely weather and would have loved to have dined in the garden some days but there is no outside seating (although shown in photo), we improvised and sat either on the steps or pulled out a couple of deck chairs.
The whole property needs a good clean and some TLC - but this added to the charm of it for us!
Brilliant location, really close to the A30 so easy access to both north and south coasts - we love Cornwall and will definitely recommend this to our friends and family.

Great location and loads of space with all you need for a great vacation, only let down by poor cleanliness.

Overall we had a good stay here, but there were some negatives which is why we feel we unfortunately can't give the farmhouse higher than a 3 star review.
Pros - the price is really good for the size of the farmhouse. There is lots of space for family members, a roomy yet cosy living room with plenty of comfortable seats, a good sized kitchen with plenty of hobs, crockery, cutlery and fridge/freezer space, and lots of lovely extras like board games and books. Also ample parking for 3 cars.
Cons - the main one for us was cleanliness, which is a huge factor for many people at any time, but even more so during a pandemic. We found sweet wrappers and an empty bottle in the living room, lots of dead midges in the bath, but the worst room was the bunk bedroom. One of the duvets was stained and there were crisps in the beds and on the floor, plus a hard sweet lying on the rug which our toddler could easily have choked on if she picked it up. This room hadn't been hoovered, let alone cleaned, so we had to close it off for our stay. The games room was also very dusty and the tables were in much worse condition than shown in the photos, so we didn't bother using it during our stay (even though it had been one of our reasons for booking the farmhouse after a lot of family fun with the games room at a different property). Another issue was the very low ceiling height in parts of the farmhouse, particularly the door frames near the kitchen and utility room. We had two tall guests, one who hit his head very hard on a low doorframe. The low doorframes would affect anyone over 6 foot. When we told Bridget during our stay. she said that low ceilings are normal in an older property and she hadn't encountered any previous issues with them, but it would have been useful for us to know in advance about the ceiling heights (even one line on the property information page), and simple safety steps like a warning sign or hazard tape on/near these, and the concealed step from the dining room to the living room which is easy to trip over.
We still had a good time overall, which is why the rating isn't lower, but it's a shame that small steps weren't taken that would have made this a 4 or 5 star stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the property. It has everything you need for a self catering break. The kitchen is well equipped but could do with a few more wine/flute glasses. The property gives options for seating and different areas for different age groups. The bedrooms are a little basic and the beds don’t have headboards, but the rooms are perfectly useable and the upstairs bathroom is good. A great supply of wet suits and beach stuff in the games room along with surfboards and other bits and pieces. It has a Family farmhouse feel about the place. It would be worth checking the check in time as due to Covid the cleaning times have extended and we could not get in until 5pm. To be fair to the owner she was not aware of the change at the timing by the cleaners. We just went to the pub for a bit so it wasn’t really a hardship!

Really enjoyed this spacious property. For the whole family (Ages 5 to 93) !! Loved the character of this house and the memories that could easily be made :)
