Only two grumbles that spoilt an absolutely perfect holiday.
Number 1... All the windows were filthy, hadn't been cleaned for months, possibly years.
Number 2... All 3 doors were ill fitting and rattled when the windows were open, a simple solution would be to apply draught strip.
My wife gave a perfect review but I feel if not notified about problems you won't know they exist. Otherwise the cottage was absolutely perfect

The cottage is very comfortable, well equipped and has a perfect location to explore the coast and broads. The pub across the toad and5 minute walk to the beach were added bonuses. We had a lovely holiday that met all our different demands. Horsey beach with the seals was a highlight!

Super cozy House with a nice Garden. It was lovely staying here!.

A beautiful thatched cottage across the green near the pub. Great location 5 mins from the beach, car parking for 2 cars, lots of floor space downstairs. Everything you need a perfect home from home. Staying in 8 weeks time can't wait, hopefully weather will be better. Went to Potter Heigham had plenty of walks on the dunes and beach. Would recommend the local fish and chip shop.
Just beautiful is the only way to describe not only the property, but also Winterton-on-Sea our dogs favorite place.

Really loved the cottage and location. It was all just so peaceful. Although there was a pub nearby it was still very quiet. Everyone seemed so friendly. Lovely walks

Very well equipped and cosy (full and helpful instructions). Superb relaxing and quiet location. Beautiful beach and sand dunes were easily walkable. Pub and local amenities close by. We all enjoyed our stay, including the dog.

Compass cottage is a beautiful country they cottage with ample of space for a family of four. Everything was immaculate on arrival and well equipped. They even gave us a lovely welcome package:-) We went in winter but there is a lovely conservatory and enclosed garden so great for sitting out for a drink. The location is perfect a stones throw from the village pub, the fish and chips shop and local store and a short walk to the dunes and beach of Winterton on sea. Highly recommend a visit to Winterton and to compass cottage.

Very homely warm cottage, nicely equipped and within a short distance of beach and dunes.

A beautiful property, had everything we needed. The Host even put up a Christmas Tree for us which was very kind and a lovely welcome pack, really enjoyed our Christmas break. Pub a few minutes walk away, dog friendly and great food. We could not go on Winterton Beach due to the high seal population but you could walk on Hemsby which was beautiful. Norwich City Centre Beautiful, would definately book again in this property. Thank you Samantha.

Our 3rd visit to this cottage and the lovely village of Winterton on Sea. Had sunshine and showers but it didn’t affect our stay. Lovely walks along the beach and dunes watching the seals. Our dog Milly enjoys her holiday here. Would recommend the cottage and village for a quiet and relaxing stay. Will be back hopefully next year.

The cottage was quiet and spacious with a great garden for lounging and soaking up the sun. Located in a wonderful, dog friendly area near to the beach and a small walk to the seal colonies. Loved it. Thanks

Lovely cottage with good sized garden and very well equipped kitchen. Had almost everything we needed. Wine, milk and chocolates were a welcome suprise. Some hooks on back of bedroom doors for dressing gowns would be useful. Second bedroom very tight for space..twin bed against wall and next one right up against it, taking up most of floor space so no room for a wardrobe, would be better as a single room. Location fab. A few steps from pub and shop, chip shop and post office/ tearoom 1 minute walk, with beach about a7 minutes walk. Very pretty village.

Great location and cottage
4.8
Cleanlliness, equipment, warmth, comfort, location all brilliant.
It is just that the twin bedroom is really a single. There are 2 beds that can be used as double but there is no space alongside one of them. At the foot of the beds there is only room for one person to stand and change but no wardrobe space..

A very comfortable property and perfectly located. It is across the road from the Fisherman's Return pub, 2 minutes from the shops and chippy. It is just a couple of minutes walk from the dunes which is perfect for walking the dogs. The property was warm and well provided with all the expected facilities including a large fridge freezer, washer/tumble dryer and large smart tv. Two comfortable sofas in the lounge as well as dining room furniture. The downstairs shower could be a little temperamental but overall an excellent property for a peaceful Christmas break

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful village. The perfect spot to enjoy the Norfolk coastline and to spend many hours watching the seals and their pups. A magical experience. The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable. Hassle free check in and out. A perfect break.

Compass cottage is spacious, very comfortable and has everything you need. It’s in a perfect location, the village is quiet and everyone is friendly. The cottage is close to the beach and dunes, so lots of nice walks on the doorstep. We felt so at home we didn’t want to leave! Owners are helpful and will resolve any problems quickly. Welcome goodies were much appreciated…..thank you, we will be back.

The downstairs of the cottage was superb, plenty of space and comfortable seating arrangements and a downstairs bathroom. However we were very disappointed with the layout upstairs. We were a party of adults, all 65+. The main bedroom had loads of space with plenty of storage, but access to a bathroom entailed having to go downstairs, not good for use during the night. The second bedroom contained 2 single beds in a room more or less the same size of the space taken up by the 2 beds. One was right up against the external wall with the second bed butting right next to the other one. Storage space was really non existent! It comprised of one bedside table with 2 shelves and at the foot of the beds there was what I could only describe as a bench with 4 open shelves underneath. The ensuite was accessed by a sliding door to a quite snug shower, toilet and wash basin. We felt the space in the ensuite could have been minimised to give much needed extra space to the very cramped bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage but were all disappointed in the issues upstairs and felt the description should include details of the layout. This would allow others to get an accurate picture of issues which may affect them should they choose this otherwise great property.

Our second stay at Compass cottage and our third visit to Winterton. We were lucky to have gorgeous weather with sunshine everyday. Our Border Terrier Milly loved her long walks along the beach and we saw the largest group of seals basking in the sun. Hopefully we will be back next year to stay again at this lovely cottage.

Very comfortable

We had a lovely stay at campass cottage, it’s in a great location with lots of walks on the doorstep. We will definitely rebook for next year. The only downside was no side or rear entrance for wet and muddy paws also no outside tap to rinse sand off the dogs.

An Absolutely wonderful property in a great location just 5 min walk to the beach and a stones throw from the Fishermans Return. It has ample parking for 2 cars. Inside it's spacious with a nice size kitchen but still remains cosy. The shingled garden is a nice size and larger than it appears in the photos. It has everything you could wish for so many little extras, for us it's a definite one to book our future visits to Winterton-on-Sea although next year we have already booked Beachside but we will definitely be returning 😊 Thanks for the opportunity to stay. Gloria Anne Poppy & Baloo xx
