Everything was very clean, and the onsen feels so good after a hole day of snowboard.
Staff was very kind, they even help me when my snowboard boot broke.
The kitchen has a lot of utilities and coffe/tea free.
Definitely i highly recommend it and i’ll come back again when i go snowboard

Futon mats were very thin and uncomfortable. We have used them before in japan with no issues.

This hostel has a lot going for it - great location with views of the lake, nice shared kitchen/dining room area, nice shared bath and showers (recently remodeled), and vending machines.
The beds are a little too firm, but the worst thing about the hostel are the paper thin walls and slamming doors. Just be aware you can hear everything (people talking, bathroom doors closing, sliding doors) which may make it difficult to fall asleep, and you may be awoken in the morning by people in the shared sink areas and halls.

Caveat - I stayed off-peak and paid for a single room but was given a double tatami room, so I was very satisfied. The room was simple, very clean, and with access to a balcony so I could dry my swimwear. The hostel was very quiet at night. I appreciated that the shoji screens had blackout curtains behind them so I wasn't woken by the sun at 5 a.m.! The kitchen was probably the cleanest hostel kitchen I have ever seen! The staff seem to be constantly cleaning the whole place. The 12 p.m. check-out was great as I could relax in the morning. The shared bath was modern with shower gel and shampoo provided. The toilets were very clean although the sinks in the room did not have soap so I had to go across the corridor and wash my hands at other sinks which did have soap - a bit weird!
The staff were not as friendly to me as others seem to have found - I finally got a smile from a female staff member when I checked out! I'm not sure how well the filter in the bath worked - there were floating hairs and black bits in the water. I guess the location wasn't the best: It is a bit of a walk from the station. Of course, if you were on a bike that wouldn't be an issue. There are no restaurants open in the evening and no stores in the neighbourhood so you need to plan ahead. However, the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. You have to walk quite far to access the beach as the local resorts won't let non-customers cut through. The beach near the hostel was full of noisy jetboats and loud speaker announcements but if you walk north you can find quieter sections.

The place was well situated close to the beach, it was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The bed berth in the shared room was spacious and good. The building had a nice balcony from which one could enjoy looking at the stars in the night. One could also rent a bike to explore the environment and near-by beaches, and there was a nice Hawaiian restaurant next door that served good breakfast. The bathroom and toilets were exceptional and new, I especially enjoyed the big bath (which I happened to have just for myself) - the white colour was very calming after the day's bustle.
The place was somewhat difficult to find due to lack of signs from the direction I arrived, and there was some miscommunication of the cancellation of my reservation, but fortunately it was resolved. The bed (futon) was a bit hard for my bones, but the blanket was wonderful.

The staff was super friendly, the building is big and we can meet a lot of people, the onsen is a big plus, free parking for the car.

The hostel is very clean and big. The bed and capsule you get are also big! I could fit my backpack in there and still had plenty of space! There is Ac in the room. The public bath looks very modernised and western but it was still comfortable! The beach is 4min away, there is also a terrace in the hostel that has shade in the afternoon and its very comfortable to spend time on. The wifi works great, I could watch youtube with no problem!
Its a bit secluded, but if you have your own transport its 3min drive from the station and also from the neares store. If not the store is 25min walk away but you can rent a bike (100yen for an hour) and then its a 10min drive.

Right by a beautiful beach.
Futons not super comfy.

Great facilities and good location if you walk a bit further from the loud jet-skis on the shore.
Friendly staff.
The facilities are great, but you are expected to pay for anything extra (towels, play soccer, bikes, etc). That are signs reminding of this pretty much everywhere, which is not the most welcoming atmosphere.
You have to count 20minutes walking to get to the closest convenience store, and about the same to the train station. station. Probably ok for those travelling by car.

The staff were excellent and the place was very clean despite it being an old building. I loved how it was right next to the beach!
I was not a fan of the showers, I did not think they had consistent water pressure.

Nice rooms and common kitchen. They have a bath! Convenient location to have a relaxing weekend and Biwa lake.

Nature, lake Biwa itself. Fresh air and the Ofuro of the guest house.
Don't have much places to get food

it was cheap and quiet
The mattress was an inch thick. The whole place had an abandoned asylum feel to it. It was far away from everything except the lake and the restaurant wasn’t open.

The location was great. Bike rental was convenient to get around. The lake was nice and it was right in front of you. The staffs were very hospitable. The common room was more comfortable than expected. Very homely.
The bed was uncomfortable. The futon was too thin and the pillow was too hard. As the walls were thin everything could be heard loudly whether in the room or out. Not good if you are hyper sensitive to noise.

Akane and Eric made this place what it is. They’re present, thoughtful beyond expectations, chilled, kind. I had such an amazing time swimming in the lake, onsen, skiing (2 stops only), dancing in the living room. I felt safest I’ve ever been as a solo female traveller.

Beautiful position in front of Lake Biwa
The pillow was made from a bean bag - highly uncomfortable. The bed was a thing mat used for a tatami floor however the floor was not tatami. The area had few restaurants - all of which close before dinner time and there was no grocery store. The area felt very isolated.

This is a review of a 6-bed female dorm. Very clean bedroom with clean linens, pillow, and fluffy comforter. Friendly and hard-working staff. Beautiful Lake Biwa view from the bedroom. Ample sinks, hairdryers, and toilets. Large onsen style bathtub with a huge bathtub. Most of those common spaces are newly renovated and very comfortable and clean. This place is large, and seemed to host sport practices and some BBQ parties. Overall, very livery and fun vibes. It took 15mins walk from Omimaiko train station. If you are not driving, make sure to get there before sundown or call the host for a ride. I walked from the train station on my first night, and the streets were deserted and spooky.
No sound proofed walls since the building itself is very old. I could hear people chatting in the hallway and the doors slummed shut everywhere. Group of young Asian customers were extremely loud in the 2nd floor lounge (or in their mixed dorm?) until 2am. Two of those loud clients were my roommates unfortunately, and they acted that no one was sleeping in our dorm room. I almost left after one night but there were no reasonably priced hotels available near Kyoto over this weekend. If this noise issue was taken care of properly, I would definitely go back.
