About this cottage rental

Wake up to nothing but bird song at this very tranquil location on the edge of both the Snowdonia National Park and the Cambrian Mountain range. A traditional Welsh Longhouse and converted stables dating back over 400 years packed full of all the traditional features you'd expect from a property of this period, but having lovingly been restored includes all your creature comforts including a country kitchen and bathroom with Victorian roll top bath and flower head shower. Enjoy our welcome hamper on arrival when booking for a whole week. The property has been renovated (Spring 2015) to cater for 14 people in comfort . The kitchen is very spacious, perfect for large groups to cook and just hang out in, we also have two living rooms and a dining room that seats 16. Outside boasts a large seating area. wood fired hot tub, pizza oven, Bbq and 4 acres of woodland, meadow and babbling streams to explore with numerous walks for all abilities from the door. There is also a state of the art cinema set up in the barn complete with 4k blu ray player, 7.2 surround sound and 15" screen - think straw bales and fairy lights ( subject to owner availability). We also have a kids play area new for 2017 with a slide, lookout tower, monkey bars and swings plus a living willow tunnel that only little people can crawl along that leads to a large living willow dome where those pesky parents can't see them in. At dusk, pull up a chair outside and watch the bats that weave in and out of the trees, and then stargaze to yours hearts content, the night sky is breathtaking. Close to the beaches at Aberdyfi and 20 minutes from Snowdonia. Ideal for families or adult groups there is plenty of space for outdoor games and summer bbqs. If you want to see what we've been up to lately, get to know us a bit more, see some more photos and stay in touch then search for fronlwydfarmholidaycottage on Facebook. We live at the very far end of the property and are on hand if you need any help or assistance. We are 'World Host' accredited.

Walk for miles not seeing a soul and just listen to the sound of birdsong and Buzzards and Red Kites circling above. Take an expedition off to find the stone circles on the hill side above or just take off for Fronlwyd is right in the middle of a beautiful unspoilt valley that is a tributary to the river Dyfi, a world famous salmon river and internationally renowned 'biosphere' for flauna and flora. There is hill walking from our door, at the head of the valley is the sources of the rivers Severn and Wye with their respective long distance footpaths beginning here. A ten minute drive away is the Hafren forest which has miles of walking and cycle tracks through it and there is sailing fifteen minutes away at Llyn Cllewedog. Depending on how adventurous you want to get you go pony trekking on the beach at Borth, Canadian canoe down the Dyfi river, kayaking at the Welsh national kayaking centre near Llangollen and of course Snowdownia is on our doorstep - my favourite mountain to walk is cader idris which is one of the highest peak in Wales and is just as spectacular as Snowdon with the added benefit being without the crowds - it's about half an hour from Fronlwyd. The area is famous for mountain biking and Machnylleth, 20 minutes away, has four downhill trails that will challenge any rider. A little further afield is the longest zip wire in Europe, which is something like a mile long! Several guests have been on this and said that it was a great experience. Also rave reviews continue for the underground caves 'Bounce Below'. If this is all a bit too 'extreme' there is stacks to other things to do that is more in keeping with the tourist scene, castles a plenty, narrow gauge railways, art galleries etc There is plenty of space for bikes at Fronlwyd with a garage to lock them up in and pressure washer available. Asda and Tesco also deliver if you want to do an internet shop.

The property is in a great location, set in the Welsh mountains and countryside. The property is very spacious and the outdoor area is superb with arces of woodland, play area for the kids and a hot tub to relax in. The owners of the property were very helpful and friendly.

well stocked kitchen and plenty of space - cool rooms downstairs in the heat and great out door space for eating and relaxing in the hot tub. Children's play area could do with a bit of maintenance as rather overgrown but Adam was a very obliging and helpful host.

We felt that the facilities advertised were not as expected. The wood fired hot tub took hours to heat up and then the jets weren’t working. When I mentioned this to the owner, he told me they haven’t worked for a while but to trust him when he said it was better without the bubbles! It spoilt the effect so we didn’t bother with it after that. The ‘state of the art’ cinema barn was very dirty and uninviting, and doubled as a workshop, so we didn’t bother with that either.

We had an absolutely brilliant stay. The hosts Adam and Vickie were great and responded to our every need. The house was comfortable, had everything we needed and space for everyone to do their own thing as well as large rooms to get together. The outside space was great too with plenty of room to relax and play. Holly the Collie and Barry the pig were great hits with the children and adults alike. The pizza oven and hot tub also provided lasting memories of laughter and fun. The surrounding area had something for everyone from young children to oldies who liked sightseeing and walking. Altogether a very pleasant stay which gave us lots to do and some very special memories. The Stone family.

We rented this house as a base to stay at for the weekend of our wedding. We couldn't have rented a more perfect place! It has remarkable views that can be enjoyed from the hot tub and garden, and a large kitchen that's beautifully designed and a perfect place for people to relax and cook together. The different annexes in the house offer lots of space, with wonderful bedrooms. My (and all of the guests!) favourite was the soaking tub in the main bathroom, and the ensuite for the double room. All rooms are large, with blackout shutters on the windows for maximum sleep. The lounges are comfortable, and the decor of the dining room is unbeatable. The drive to the house offers amazing scenery, which our American guests loved! And Adam was always on hand with anything we needed. Will definitely be returning again!

Our family of 18 stayed here last week and had a wonderful time. We are all outdoor people and loved the location. I worried that we had over filled the house but it was perfect. The babies shared with their parents and 2 slept in the 2nd lounge and were comfortable. The beds were super (was told that the double bed with ensuite was a little uncomfortable), the kitchen was very, very well equipped including large fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer which was put to good use after a very wet climb up Cadair Idris. The pizza oven and hot tub were great fun and the enclosed garden was ideal for the 2 dogs. 4 bathrooms were plenty, loads of hot water, and the extra utility room made cooking and clearing away at mealtimes easy without getting under each other's feet. We had 7 cars between us and there was plenty of parking space. The entrance hall has room for wet boots, coats, soggy rucsacks and dog towels. Our favourite feature has to be the loooong dining table! Amazing! We actually sat all 18 of us (2 high chairs included) around the table with enough elbow room. We walked to the pub in Llanbrynmair (approx 3 miles) and met a rather interesting landlady and visited Aberdifi beach which was huge, sandy and has a dog friendly area. If you want local amenities like shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance this may not be the place for you, but if you want beautiful surroundings, comfy living and sharing food and wine with your friends or family go stay here. We loved it.
