A really wonderful house with everything we could have needed on hand.
Great space, wonderfully clean, fantastic air conditioning, a walk away from the beach, and with the most beautiful outside space.
We couldnt have asked for more and we would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Barbados.

Turtles is a great place to stay. A lovely spacious home in a local environment. The house is clean and very well equipped with all the amenities you could possibly need. The spacious, cool balcony is perfect for meals and relaxing. The short cut to the main road for busses or the beach is shorter than expected and very easy. We were three generations of family and all of us enjoyed a wonderful time.

The villa was a short walk to the beach with lovely local residents around close to good restaurants and very close for buses and and taxi rank

Proper Barbados
O how I miss my Turtles ! We are the type of people who if we are visiting another country we like to mix with the locals as much as possible and the location of Gill & Steve's fantastic Villa is perfect for this, every time we left or arrived back from the beach or a night out we were always welcomed with a good morning or good evening and with it just being after New Year we also got Happy New Year reminding me of how we used to be in this country, The Villa was very clean and the outside porch for breakfast and drinks was just brilliant, we even saw the Monkey on a couple of mornings, Dave met us on our arrival which was later than first arranged as we had a delay at Manchester Airport but he was there waiting, and was happy to check up on us through our stay, Make sure you visit his Cafe Bar in Holetown, Steve & Gill were great to communicate with but we never had a problem while we were there, I did see a couple of comments about the hill back to the Villa, I would say it may be a slight problem if your not in the best of health but I'm sixty and have seen better days but I didn't find it a problem apart from the odd bit that didn't have pavement, the short cut to the beach is a bit dodgy if there has been a shower, As for Paynes bay well we think it has to have One of the best beaches on the whole island, All I can say is come and do Barbados the proper way and book Turtles, Till the next time Gill & Steve, We thank you !

We recently stayed at Turtles on Holders Hill... the house is great in all aspects. Well equipped with everything you need and the outdoor verandah makes the place! Great for morning coffee and evening drinks/dinner!
We had a car rental which made it easier to access all the island has to offer and is only a short jaunt to Holetown for groceries and restaurants (and numerous choices on the way)!
The fantastic Payne's Bay beach is about a 10 minute walk but you can also drive and park at the Esso or drive to many of the other fantastic beaches close by as well. The walk back is uphill and may not be as enjoyable for those that are not stable on their feet...
We had a great vacation and the owners checked in on us by email to make sure all was going well... and Dave was not too far away if there was an issue.
Would recommend as a top choice for couples! Having a car is necessary unless you want to use the local ZR's and buses which are close by.
The free range roosters in the early morning add to the charm of the place but may be annoying for those who like to sleep in....
thanks...

Wonderful personal private villa
Turtles is a private villa owned by English people. The description is extremely accurate and it is somewhat larger than the photographs on line depict. It is very well equipped and maintained and always being upgraded when the owners visit. All three bedrooms are a good size and there are two identical bathrooms one of which is en suite. It can accommodate up to six adults comfortably. The outside veranda is in our opinion its best feature with good lighting, ceiling fans, and comfortable furniture, which makes for a very pleasant eating outside and relaxing area, particularly in the evenings.
Paynes Bay is about six or seven minutes walk away and it is conveniently situated for buses and transport along the west coast.
We stayed for three weeks, and look forward to returning in the future. Highly recommended.
Thank you Steve, Gill, and Will for allowing us to stay in your "home from home".

Our stay at "Turtles" was excellent. The villa is exactly as descibed and was eminently suitable for our requirements. It is truly only 5 minutes to the exceptionally beautiful Paynes Bay beach on the West Coast of Barbados. It's location is perfect for getting around the island in all directions. The villa is realy beautifully appointed. Features include a large balcony on which we spent many evenings with lovely flowers and palm trees ( and occasional monkeys!) in the surrouding garden. It is full of character in its decor reflecting its name and the tropical coast nearby. It is extremely comfortable and very well serviced with 3 large double bedrooms , two bathrooms with showers, a lovely spacious sitting room and large kitchen with every thing one might need for a stay like ours of 3 weeks. It is clearly well maintained and impeccably clean with a regular cleaner who was a joy to meet.
Steve, Gill and son Will all contributed to ensuring we were extremely well briefed before we travelled as to what we might expect and look forward to. For example helping us with flight and car hire. Their friend/ agent Dave - an instantly likeable Lancashire exile-met us on arrival and really went the extra mile with us ensuring we had something to eat as it was evening(he took us to the local supermarket!) spent time showing us round the Villa and then said he would return the next morning to give us a quick tour around the local area to get our bearings- including another trip to the main supermarket and waiting for us to do the shopping before taking us back! Amazing! Clearly nothing was too much for him.
This is also true of Steve and Gill who kept touch with us through occasional e-mails just checking everything was fine - a really nice touch and we always felt that should any need arise they all would be on hand to sort things out.
We can't recommend "Turtles" highly enough. It is excellent value enhanced by outstanding custmer service on the part of Steve, Gill, Will and Dave.

Turtles was easy to find. The house and garden looked lovely and well cared for. We were met by Dave who welcomed us and showed us around. The position of the house was just as described.
Steve and Gill had arranged a welcome pack for us, including requested items!
The beds were really comfy. There were copious towels and a very impressive washing machine and dryer! The house was lovely and clean. We settled in immediately! The piece de resistance, though, was the veranda! We spent most of our time there!
We loved the neighbours! Lovely gentle people with a ready smile and 'hello', 'take your umbrella', or 'remember your sun block'!
The shortcut to the beach was as described and very convenient. We were on the beach within minutes!
We enjoyed numerous happy hours, watching the sunset at Daphne's, and the Tamarind along with lunches and evening meals....In fact, we had a fabulous two weeks! Thank you Steve and Gill! We'll be back!

Well appointed villa.
Turtles was a great choice for our first extended visit to beautiful Barbados. The villa is very spacious with pretty much everything you need and is a few minutes from the beach. We spent most of our waking hours on the terrace which is a wonderful spot to relax or dine. It is in a quiet and safe neighbourhood and the locals are friendly and helpful.
The house is very well appointed with many features which gives it a personal feel and there is a great selection of books and dvds.
We didn’t bother with a car and relied on the local bus services for trips into Bridgetown, Oistins and Holetown where there is a large supermarket and stocks everything you could possibly need. There are several good quality restaurants and bars close by and would suggest a Sunday evening trip into Holetown for a great experience.
Steve and Gill are very good to deal with and made the whole process so easy. I would certainly recommend this villa to friends and relatives.

Another great holiday at Turtles
This was a return trip to Turtles and it was just as good as last year. We had a relaxing time enjoying the beaches and sunshine. Can not think of a better way to spend January.
The villa is well equipped and is very clean and comfortable.
The veranda is lovely to relax with a cocktail in the evening and with two fans keep you cool.
Would definitely return.

Fabulous Stay
We really enjoyed our stay at Turtles.
It has everything you'll need for an outstanding vacation.
The neighbours were extremely pleasant and friendly.
On our last day we shared breakfast with a family of 7 monkeys!
Very short walk to the beach for some of the best swimming and snorkeling conditions on the island.
Thank you Gill and Steve and for responding so quickly to any questions we had.
Already planning next years return!

Great holiday in your beautiful villa
From the very first contact with the owners, Steve & Gill they were so helpful and made the booking process easy and provided us with all the information we could possibly wish for. At our arrival, Anita the property manager met us at the villa and made sure we could contact her if needed.
The house was spacious, well equipped and had everything we needed and was very clean, comfortable and in a good location.
The beach at Paynes Bay is great and a short walk from the property or you can walk to the road where you catch a bus to visit other beaches etc. We are already missing the sun, sea and the beautiful beaches.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars for sunset drinks within walking distance. We also enjoyed sitting out on the terrace in the evenings and the villa feels very homely with all the pictures and other decorations.
Thank you Gill & Steve for the use of your lovely home and we hope to return soon.

We booked to stay at Turtles Villa way back in January 2016 for a family two week break over Christmas and New Year 2016/17 as we also had Christmas 2015 in Barbados. The response from Steve and Gill was instant and the communication between us was outstanding throughout the booking process and prior to our arrival. Waiting almost 11 months to arrive was certainly worth it! The villa was spotlessly clean and completely fulfilled our expectations and more. The whole aura and presentation was amazing and the attention to detail was lovely. We loved all the little touches-gorgeous ornaments, fantastic pictures, comfy beds, awesome washer and the beautiful large veranda area became our home for two weeks. Managers Anita and Dave were on hand to deal with any queries and regularly 'check in' to see if we were okay! The information given to us prior to arrival and on booking was amazing and Steve and Gill clearly take pride and rightly so in their beautiful home and ensuring their guests are well informed about island life and the availability of every piece of information you could hope to be told as a newbie. We felt so lucky to be able to stay there! It was amazing to be in with all the 'locals' at Christmas time and everyone chatted daily and welcomed us. We travelled with our two grown up daughters who were just blown away by the villa! We did have a car for the whole duration of our holiday-however it is about a 5 minutes walk down the hill to the beach-just next to the Treasure beach hotel. And a handy Esso garage 2 minutes walk-again, just down the hill. Having beach towels provided and a washer and dryer was awesome so we could refresh beachwear and we made good use of the cool box and beach umbrella daily. Huge fantastically stocked kitchen with everything you would need to self cater. Although we didn't use the local buses-the bus stop is 5 minutes away to get around the island. Paynes Bay and Sandy Lane beach is awesome and of course, my girls had their photo taken with Simon Cowell!! All in all-we would highly recommend and we will certainly be back! Thank you so very much. An unforgettable experience for us all!

Where to start...
First off, what you see is what you get. The villa is amazing! Every room is presented so well, and the little touches make each bedroom feel like its the best one in the house. The villa was spotless and we were met with more than enough essential items to keep us going until we went to the supermarket.
The area is nice and quiet and amongst the locals. The bus stop is less than a 10 minute walk, and Holetown is not far at all.
Steve and Gill were so helpful from the start, and the information we received before our holiday was very useful. The lengths that Steve and Gill go to to make sure you have the best holiday possible is second to none.
We would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a lovely home from home.

Keeps getting better
This was our second stay at the villa and the property is even nicer now than it was on our first stay 2 years ago.
The yard is even more beautiful now with the addition of lighting and a walkway, you have to see it in the evening to really appreciate it. The balcony area, which was already my favourite part of the house, got even better with the addition of ceiling fans. We spent a lot of time relaxing there and having a leisurely breakfast or reading, enjoying the breeze and the daily routine of the neighbourhood. With such attention to detail and comfort, it’s easy to see that this is a very well maintained property. I felt as if I was staying at a friend’s home, it was so relaxing and comfortable.
As on my first stay, I really appreciated having the second bathroom and the laundry facilities. The kitchen is bright and well equipped, the beds are comfortable and the villa is a short walk to the beach on Paynes Bay, or to the road where you can catch a bus if you wish to visit another beach or attraction. The property managers checked in with us regularly to make sure that we had everything we needed. They were so kind and helpful.
Being in this Barbadian neighbourhood gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in Barbados. It is a beautiful, safe, friendly area close to the beach, restaurants and bus service. We ate more than once at Marshalls bar, a short drive from the villa on Holders Hill, where we got delicious meals with generous portions prepared with care for a very reasonable price. It’s a popular place for cricket fans and one of my favourite places to eat.
Turtles is a perfect place to wind down and relax in Barbados. The villa is a great base if you want to go out and see the island, but it’s also a great place to just sit around and relax. You can cook your own meals or get some local takeout, a bottle of rum or whatever you like, and sit on that fantastic veranda and enjoy the wonderful Bajan breeze. I definitely plan on returning.

Beautiful
We stayed at Turtles for 9 nights in September and we had a wonderful time! Steve and Gill were very helpful throughout the entire booking process and they sent us so much useful information about the island. Anita met us at house, even though our flight was delayed. She knows so much about the island and has a wonderful restaurant close to the Villa that we ate at a couple of times. The Villa is spacious, clean and has everything you need to prepare your own meals. We spent most of our time on the big outdoor patio, which is wonderful. The neighbors were friendly and we enjoyed walking to the beach close to villa. We traveled with 3 couples and everyone really liked the accommodations. We can't wait for our next island vacation! We will certainly be returning to Turtles on our next visit.

Lovely holiday - beautiful house and location
From the very first contact, we felt that this was the right spot for our Bajan holiday. The owners, Steve and Gill, made us feel welcome and provided us with all the information we could possibly wish for. At our arrival, the property managers made sure that we got introduced to the house and the area right away. The house was as spacious and well-equipped as described and the area with the local residents was friendly and nice. The beach at Paynes Bay is excellent and very close to the property. We swam for hours and often in the presence of friendly and curious turtles. The services and facilities offered at the beach were always good and courteous, and the flying fish meals were very tasty. As we had rented a car, it also was easy to explore the island with lots of interesting sights. The North point and the Atlantic coast were rugged and fascinating whereas the West coast was much more calm with accessible beaches. We had a wonderful time and will definitely come back again. We give "Turtles" our highest recommendation!

Perfection.
This is our second stay at Turtles and most definitely won’t be our last. This villa is situated in a perfect location to see the best of Barbados. Only a few minutes from one of the finest beaches on the island, Paynes Bay beach. This beautifully finished villa offers an extremely spacious and welcoming home from home. The villa is well equipped with a modern kitchen. The large bedrooms are fitted to the highest standard with lots of storage space for all your holiday essentials. The beds are of a good quality and very comfortable. The villa is set in well maintained grounds with beautiful palms and flowering shrubs. A new outdoor terrace area has been built and is ideal for alfresco dining. All the rooms are spotlessly clean, and functional, each with its own individual character. Turtles is situated in a typical Bajan community offering the feel of a warm and welcoming country. We were greeted by the local residents who made everyone feel welcome and a very friendly and safe environment was felt by all.
We would recommend Turtles as one of Barbados’ finest, a treasure not to be missed!

Beautiful villa in local village setting
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Turtles. The place is decorated so tastefully and it is very clean and comfortable - good beds, lots of places to dine and the kitchen has every amenity. We appreciated the cot and baby bath for our little one. The terrace is really lovely in the morning. Our daughter also enjoyed exploring the little garden surrounding the property.
We were very well looked after - lots of information available and help was always right there via the local property managers who were very kind.
We enjoyed the farmers market as well as the weekend food stall at the end of the road. The beach is less than 10 minutes walk and you can walk for long stretches in either direction - Payne's Bay is magnificent. The villa is situated in what feels like a local village, not a tourist spot per se but we loved it all the more for that reason. We enjoyed meeting our friendly neighbours and it was also very convenient as the Esso just around the corner could cover most basic needs. The bus to Holetown took about 10 mintues to Holetown for good grocery shopping. Highly recommended!

Turtles Paynes Bay.... The Only Place To Stay
"Fabulous" best describes our stay at Turtles. Where do we start? Well, the property was exactly as stated with all appliances, TV, Fridge, Cable, Wi Fi etc. working perfectly. Inside, the bedrooms, kitchen and living room are all well presented with a homely, Caribbean feel. . The balcony was our favorite spot where we ate breakfast and hung out at nights watching the local Bajans "liming". Turtles is well maintained and the property manager (Dave) was there whenever we needed him.
As for Paynes Bay, you are seven minutes walk from glorious beaches as well as the local buses that take you into Bridgetown or wherever you want to go. We highly recommend the yellow "Reggae Buses" as you will get a slice of "Bajan living". "Jordans" supermarket is about a 7 minute bus ride and has everything you will need. Throughout our stay, we found the locals to be courteous and very helpful with directions and advice. At all times, day and night, we felt safe and you will find the locals living around Turtles to be warm and friendly. A friendly hi will get you a long way there.
With regards to tourist attractions, we recommend "Mullins Bay Beach Bar" in St Peters on Highway 1, Oistins Fish Fry and of course "The Jolly Roger". For getting around, we rented a car which gave us a lot of freedom but we left it at home when we were going into Bridgetown. Taking the bus was only BDS$2 a ride and saves you trying to find parking downtown.. We also ate at "Sharkeys" which a short walk from the house and if you want to take a walk on the wild side, try buying food from the food vendors recommended by Steve/Gill or the locals.. it's all very, very good.
If you are hiring a car, we used Drive-A-Matic who were great and very professional. Now for "Sticker Shock", gas is BDS$14.50/gallon or US$7.25 a gallon. yikes!!!!!. Still well worth it.
In summary, We would highly recommend Turtles and will be staying there again. Why anyone would want to stay in a cramped hotel room when they could roam around a beautiful home with all the creature comforts is beyond us.. Turtles offers excellent value for and you will find dealing with Steve & Gill to be a joy.
Steve/Gill, thank you for making our stay at Turtles a wonderful experience. It was everything that was advertised and then some... See you in 2016

Felt right at home here in Barbados
This home is so nice, I recommend this place to anyone visiting Barbados. It is truly unique, in the middle of a typical Bajan neighbourhood with all the lovely sounds and smells of Barbados. I felt perfectly safe, as I always do in Barbados, but this home is quite secure just in case anyone is nervous about those things. Everyone we came across in the neighbourhood was friendly and greeted us, as I would have expected from Barbadians - friendly but discreet.
The villa is beautifully decorated with all sorts of thoughtful touches, we felt like we were in our own home, nothing was missing. It is also so nice to have the 2 bathrooms, 1 for each bedroom, a real advantage that other places can't offer. You can open all the doors and windows if you like, the place is breezy and well equipped with fans. We rarely used the air conditioners in the bedrooms, even though the weather was hot and dry during our stay, preferring to enjoy the Bajan breeze. I have been to Barbados many times, stayed in different types of places, but I think this place had just about everything. We enjoyed the patio the most, it is the best room of the house. It's spacious and breezy and private and totally relaxing.
The beach is just a short walk from the house and on the way back, we usually stopped at the gas station for snacks or drinks or small grocery items. It was really convenient. Marshall's bar is not too far where you can get delicious home cooked meals for a reasonable price and maybe watch a cricket match across the road. You are close to everything on the West Coast. Payne's bay is a beautiful area and the beach is gorgeous, you can walk along it for quite a distance.
I can't wait to return, this is the perfect place to wind down and immerse yourself in Barbados.

Paradise
A fantastic villa in a typically Bajan setting. The neighbours were very friendly and welcoming. The villa is in a short walk away from one of the nicest beaches on the Island, Payne’s Bay, Where you can swim with Turtle’s and enjoy the white sandy beach and crystal waters of the sea. The villa was very well equipped, from beach towels, chairs and cool boxes for the outdoors, to Wi fi, Television, and laundry equipment on the inside. With all the conveniences of modern life to enjoy, Turtle’s Villa was a home from home.
The villa is conveniently located for some of the best beaches, shopping and restaurants.
The bus service is cheap and reliable. A car is not essential but enables you to see more of the Island at your leisure.
We will be returning in the very near future as this was the best holiday we have ever had.
