So relaxed

It was a really nice chilled atmosphere in the house. Despite traveling there solo I felt like I was part of a group as soon as I arrived; the staff are super welcoming and it seems popular among solo travellers. The surfing was also really nice and there is a beautiful forest nearby to walk or run in.

Relaxing atmosphere

The great, relaxed vibe of the house. You can have time for yourself, go surfing, or join the rest of the guests/workers for meals or activities. They will give you indications on the best spots or times for surfing each day.

The house was great when I stayed there as there were not many people. It may be a bit small when on full capacity.

Exceptional

I only stayed one night and wished to stay more. The staff is very welcoming, makes you feel home, some jams sessions spontaneously pop out and the evening meal was great! The house has a variety of surfboards for different levels, longboard was perfect for the day we went surfing. Thanks to Paul and his team for the mellow atmosphere!

Perfect place!

The camp is amazing!! It makes you feel at home. Very nice kitchen and bedroom. The outside area with skatebowl and barbecue is fantastic. Such a good vibe

relaxing and good vibes

the vibes here are amazing , I came at the end of the season so it was pretty quiet , but I could imagine it would be so cool over summer, the outdoor area is really cool with lots to do and places to hang out. Paul the owner and the staff are epic and create a relaxing friendly atmosphere.

Great time!

The hostel felt more like Home than a hostel and the staff was very welcoming. We had a great time surfing and discovering Labenne and Bayonne. To sum it up we really enjoyed our stay at Shifting Sands Hostel and we will definitely come back someday.

Je me suis faite racketée par l'hôte le dernier jour.

The vibe was really nice amongst the hosts.

Paul has been very uncommunicative. I discovered as I told him goodbye, 15 mn before I had to leave for my train, that I had to pay an extra 250 euros for the surfboards. I had not planned this spending and felt ripped off. This last bit ruined my experience there. If you go there, know you have to make everything very clear yourself, otherwise things might not be told to you. Don't expect anything from the host.

Exceptional

Such a great atmosphere about the place, it feels like you’re living in a share house with your best mates! Everyone cooks together, cleans together, shares the costs. Paul the owner is great and has the answer to any surfing question you might have, as well all the surfing gear that is available for hire.

Best surf house of the region

This place is the best, Paul and the staff are so welcoming. They make you feel like home wether you stay 2 days or 2 weeks. If you enjoy surfing, skating and nice people, you’ve found your place.

Good place for a week

Good location, possibility to use the kitchen. Excellent if you want to practice your English.

Quite noisy depending on the guests that are present at the moment.

Peacefull

I spend very nice holliday, the place is peacefull and people got a very good minset there. One night isn't enough to discover the place i recomand to stay few days.

You don't have a lot of intimicy in the bathroom but for the price and for few days it's okay.

Staff were polite and welcoming, the place was surprisingly quiet for a hostel and it was generally a nice atmosphere

Familiar and very relaxing place

Very familiar and relaxed atmosphere, I felt right at home. I had such an amazing time surfing, chilling and discovering beautiful labenne. I was travelling by myself and met so many nice people there. Totally recommend!!

Poor hygiene during Covid

So disappointing. I arrived at the property after a 11 hour journey, spoke to the owner who showed me to my bed. There he said “oh your bed should have been made”, “I’ll give the sheets a brush down later”. Later no change of sheets or even the “brush down” happened with debris still on the bed when I needed to sleep. I am still shocked clean sheets were not provided, even more so during Covid.

Great place for surfing a great home away from home.

The Hostel felt more like being at home. Staff was attentive and guests were nice. The peaceful and friendly atmosphere was great. I will def gladly return.

At time the breakfast provided was poor, although this was due to staff shortage as we visited towards the end of the touristic season. This was correct by the host.
