Breakfast was the best of our stay.
Both restaurants were not serving guests as they had a wedding to cater to, no alternative was offered.
The spa had to be booked well ahead and the TV was not English operational. Abit sorry we stayed here.

Very clean, fresh, spacious and nicely decorated rooms! Lots of fresh air, no noise pollution and air condition, easy access for stroller, as we travelled with 2 month old child. Baby cot was also provided. We enjoyed the spa and massages at the main resort facility, transfer was provided. Masseurs were very professional, good technique! Both restaurants at the main resort (European cuisine) and Silene Spa resort Egle (Italian restaurant) were fantastic! Great variety, quality and service! Staff was very professional and accommodating! Exquisite views!
The only suggestion would be that pillows could be thicker to provide more support and darker shades / curtains for better sleep could be installed.

Hotel is the quiet village. Rooms are very nicely decorated, cosy.
Restaurant is amazing - food is great, oriented to Italian cuisine, everything is so fresh and tasty. Breakfast was also very delicious.
There is nothing to do around in a walking distance. Hotel surroundings could be more private, because you can see village neighbours clearly, there are no high fence or hedges.

Big spacious rooms, excellent breakfast. Friendly manager and staff in restaurant.
Refrigerator would be useful. Bed was little bit squeaky, especially the one beside window - most used probably.

This is an overlap facility for the main resort, situated some ways away from the central resort (driving or a shuttle is necessary). Egles Villa provides for all the basic necessities - a bed, a restaurant and a very decent breakfast. No major attractions in the surrounding village.

Brekfast was assome, however if I have to stay longer, it can be challenging to choose from.
I couldn`t understand that is two different areas from webpage EGLE and SIlene. Without a car, no chance to be there.

It does at least offer some decent accommodation in a region that is short on better-quality offerings, but this is a slightly strange place, with the bulk of the roooms some 5 km away from the 'resort' part by the lakeside. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good - and even more so if you take it at the lakeside restaurant.
The wine list at the lakeside restaurant is excellent - whoever put it together knew what they were doing, and the atmosphere there is enjoyably grown up (mellow jazz from the speakers instead of annoying pop).
One good thing about the accommodation being in the village - a short walk away, across the school playing field is an excellent public swimming spot in the lake. In fact it is better than the swimming spot at the private resort.
Daugavpils and Krāslava both make excellent day trips from here and the forests are good for mushrooming and berry picking.
The on-site Italian restaurant was closed for the first two days of our stay giving us basically no choice but to eat at the expensive resort restaurant. It was only when we were actually on the way to the hotel that we were told the on site restaurant would be closed.
We had a very mixed experience at the restaurant - the food was good but the first night we had to wait more than an hour for a very simple selection of dishes: Caesar salad, Soup of the day and two children's portions of pasta. Clearly the waitress forgot to place our order. When I asked what was happening it arrived quickly but had obviously been done in a hurry (the chicken in the Caesar salad was undercooked). In fairness the more senior waiting staff did apologise and give us complimentary dessert, which in fact turned out to be the best part of the meal.
The second time we went there we had no problems and an excellent meal, probably because the head waiter took care of us and extra effort was being made.
As regards the hotel itself, I don't understand how it merits a four-star rating. In my opinion it should be three star. Despite it being high season (mid August) the whole place felt like it was just being dusted off. There was only one hanger in the wardrobe, so I asked for some more. The TV channels didn't work properly. The helpful receptionist came and tuned the TVs for us while some unknown (and unmasked) man stood in the doorway. I assume he was some sort of manager? He didn't bother to explain his presence.
Similarly at the 'resort' we hired bicycles to ride around through the local forest. We must have been the only people to do so for a long time as the tires were flat and the brake and gear cables rusty. I guess the place had been shuttered during Covid, but as it was still not operating 100% I think the prices being charged should have been considerably lower to take account of this. The photos make the room look more impressive than they are.

Room was pretty and clean, breakfast were great and full! We got two coffees both and it was for free. Very beautiful surroundings.
Bed mattress was hard, reception lady was very nice, but didn’t give the information about SPA, that we asked and she said she will get back to us. Prosciutto pizza was not tasty at all and overpriced for this region.

Air conditioner is missing :(, but this is the only thing to comment, all the rest is excellent

Excellent, truly rich and delicious breakfast. Comfy beds. Great restaurant food (in the room due to Covid-19). Very nice and friendly staff. Nice park near the lake.
We were 2 families, occupied 2 rooms - both were really nice.
Nothing.
