Topp!

The personnel at the reception is very nice. I really like how friendly he is and welcoming. You could clearly see that it is his passion to accommodate people, too bad we weren't able to get his name.
Would definitely go back to this charming and comfortable place.

The room was like a flat - complete - and it was very neat.
Breakfast could be earlier for travelers going to Helgoland.

The room was large and it is obvious that it being November I received a cut rate off season. The room costs far more in the Summer when the town is very busy. There are many places to stay in Cuxhaven. It was difficult to find the street at night (at 6:30 PM when it was already dark). But I was helped by another guest. I was told on line there would be no breakfast but the owner came by several hours after I had gone to the room and notified me I could get breakfast for 10 euro. That was good. It was safe. The TV worked well. I had a little kitchen where I made some herbal tea. Internet access was very good.
Having never been to Cuxhaven in my life and arriving at the train station I walked into the town center because that is what it said on line that I should do to find a bus. In my broken German I asked many people and got lots of shrugs. Finally someone said I should catch the 1007 bus (which I was looking for) at the Hauptbahnhof! (When I arrived there were only taxis in front of the train station since the buses are not always there, of course.) So booking.com staff made a mistake. Perhaps the situation has changed. Catch the 1007 right in front of the little train station. Then, the bus ride was indeed 17 stops and it took about half an hour, but booking.com incorrectly said to go to the end of the line. Actually, it is close to the guest house if one goes only to the center of the little resort area. So I walked a lot more than I needed to, and that happened twice (looking for the bus and then looking for the guest house without any internet and therefore no google map). That was not the fault of the guesthouse. However, I arrived around 7:00 or so and the door was locked. Again, the owner depended on me having a working cell phone that worked in the little town of Cuxhaven. My phone worked well in Bremen but it did not work in Cuxhaven. If a guest had not answered the door and had not let me use her smart phone I would not have known that the key was in a box outside and that with a combination I could open the box to retrieve the key. (That system is something I am familiar with in principle.) All in all, it felt a bit strange. But once I was actually in the large room and could watch BBC on the TV, make some tea, and use the good shower next door (not in the room) I was fine. I write all this out because any traveller who goes there needs to know that the instructions given by booking.com are not always 100% accurate. I cannot blame them since they deal with thousand of sites, but nevertheless, beware.
