A lovely stay on the Amazon.
Food was delicious, especially the vegetarian option. Staff was courteous and responsive.
It was very difficult to find the correct boat in Leticia. There need to be much more specific instructions on where to go. We asked about twelve people before we found the right place. We had to cross a bridge from the initial port, follow a long, not very clear path across an island, and then figure our which platform on the other side was going to Macagua. I realize that there are changes based on the river level but there needs to be a detailed map/plan provided to visitors.

Lá Ceiba is a great place to stay in the Amazon jungle.
We liked everything about the La Ceiba Hostel. The people in the hotel and the people in the neighborhood were helpful and interesting to talk to. They have a real reverence for the environment. The food was delicious and the excursions were great. They gave a lot of good guides. Some of the rooms were raised up to be like a tree house. I thought that was great.
There was nothing we didn’t like. It’s such an amazing place. I should let you know that the guides do not speak English. It didn’t matter to be because I can speak enough English to carry on a conversation. You can learn many things about the rain forest just by the way the guides point things out, but you will miss out on some of the conversation.

Amazing
Ceiba is an amazing place with wonderful host and crew. We stayed in a house with 2 bathrooms (2 adults+3 teens), where additional 4 people would easily fit in, surrounded by trees, garden, sounds of birds, selva and the community. For light sleepers ear plugs necessary, as the “nature”wakes up early. As we went to bed early, we didn’t mind it at all. we could observe from our terrace birds and monkeys. The trips were great and informative, guides from indigenous tribes helped to gain their perspective- for us it was an unforgettable experience. Be aware (for trips in July): - - it is hot and humid, moskitos are present, so dress respectively - long sleeve and long pants, but airy, breathable; great are zip-off pants for the moments “in between” on the boat, in the restaurant during the whole day excursions; we have changed clothes twice a day due to humidity and run out of clean ones fast (it is not easy to dry anything quickly!) - - La Ceiba provides rain boots for selva walks (!), you don’t need trekking shoes - - 20th July is Colombian Independence Day-we were in Puerto Narino that day, which was great as people from all communities came to celebrate - - take a walk in the community of Mocagua, visit the museum where you can touch and try almost everything and hear about life and habits/traditions of Tikuna: for kids (but also adults) from Europe it is Discovery Channel Live. - - our plane from Bogota was 2 hours late, so we’ve missed the public transport. It was not easy to find a reliable private boat among dozen people offering services - we finally found an agency next door to the public transport office- same price as offers at the shore, but we felt safer. On the way back we opted for private transfer too (the journey takes 1/2 of the time and you set the hour by yourself) organized by Ceiba- it was cheaper than that one from Leticia and the boat was 100x nicer, so if you opt for private transfer my recommendation is plan this ahead with La Ceiba

It was exactly what we were looking for to learn and explore the local community who were welcoming, friendly, accommoda
There were viewpoints to see the river and the jungle. We got to see wildlife like monkeys, parrots, and other birds from the dining table and view points. The property was close to the water and on the edge of the community, which made accessing both the tours and the community easy. The shared bathrooms were always open and tidy. Our room had a hammock on the balcony. Everyone at La Cevia was kind, friendly, accommodating and joyful. There was lots of laughter. They were flexible with what we wanted to do. They listened to what we wanted to see and do and gave suggestions of what they thought would be best. Manuel and Daisy took care of everything for us including boots, arranging trips and tours, tickets for the boat taxi, and getting to the airport. We had many trips with Jose, who was knowledgeable about everything we asked and didn’t get tired from our many questions. Everyone engaged in light hearted conversation which made us feel welcomed. The trips to Peru and Puerto Nariño were educational and we learned a lot about local communities and indigenous people. Every guide and person with La Cevia was passionate about conserving the local environment, giving back the their community, and building relationships with other people who are doing the same. This was inspiring to hear. People were generous in sharing their stories with us.
Things to know: -bring mosquito repellent -we went in dry season and having light weight long sleeve pants was needed to go into the jungle -we only needed a pair of sandals and tennis shoe for footwear because they have rubber boots -they supply a set of binoculars, but we wish we would have brought our own too and downloaded an app with local birds on it

hidden gem in Amazonas. love waking up to the animal sounds
location
meals were the same every day, herbal education talk not worth it. the experience consisted of one of the members from the community talk about his experience growing up as taita and sharing names of 4 plants he used and that’s it. I was looking to learn more practical skills and identify some plants for health purposes.

Everything was lovely. Mocagua is a tiny cute village perfect for relaxation and jungle hikes!
Everything was so nice especially the home made food. They even brought a private hammock in my own balcony which was very nice.
Wel I guess this has nothing to do with the hotel but I was the only guest and it was raining all day so I was kinda bored. I understand that the staff, facilities or manager have nothing to do with this though.

Pleasant
The location is nice and comfortable. The restaurant service is very good.
They overcharge the activities and extra services, for example they charged us 50000 COP (10euros) each person for washing the clothes!! They didn't want to tell us how much it wuld be, even though I asked twice before washing the clothes. The just answered "don't worry it is not much". They didn't include this service in the final bill, and only until the last moment before taking the boat to Leticia they charged us. Everything was planned, we didn't have time to protest or calculate properly. it felt like a betrayal for me. This hotel is becoming greedy and it's not good for the community, you can clearly see inequality. This hotel has power over the community, so they are starting doing what they want, such us paying poorly to the community and overcharging the tourists. Greediness at its maximum expression. It's a pitty because the community has a lot to offer.
