Amazing Sound View, located in Hall Quarry, Mount Desert! Hall Quarry is located about halfway between Somesville and Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island.
Hall Quarry is a peaceful and serene village that sits nestled in the hills on Somes Sound, the only natural fjard on the East coast and a popular sailing and pleasure boating destination, offering protected deep anchorages and spectacular views all year long.
Sound View is a very spacious, meticulously decorated and a comfortable home away from home set amidst a huge manicured yard, overlooking the most spectacular and amazing ever-changing views of Somes Sound, as well as beautiful Sargent, Bald Peak, Parkman and Norumbega Mountains. Relax in the most private setting while you sip your coffee on your very spacious deck and enjoy the breathtaking views! Watch the deer grazing all around you in the early evenings. Also take in our spectacular Maine Lupine flowering field in full bloom, along your view to the Sound (seasonally, usually Early June). Feel free to cut some to have them fragrant the inside as well.
We are just minutes (2 to 3 miles) to some of Acadia National Park's most popular hiking and biking trails, as well as great swimming at Echo Lake Beach. We are within 8 miles of downtown Bar Harbor and minutes to everything that our beautiful Island has to offer, without having to endure the lack of privacy with downtown properties and the huge crowds and noise from the cruise ship traffic while staying in Bar Harbor.
Sound View has 4+ lovely bedrooms and three bathrooms. It will comfortably accommodate a total of 10 (8 ADULTS / 2 CHILDREN MAXIMUM) due to bed configurations. It is delicately appointed with fine furnishings, upscale real down duvet bedding, linens, & housewares, etc.
This amazing property provides you with everything you could possibly need! The beautiful gas fireplace is a perfect setting for cooler evenings. On the entrance level floor, there is a fully stocked kitchen for the chef in you leading to an open concept living room and sun-room dining area, both with large sliding glass doors to the spacious deck and gorgeous view. Lots of windows throughout allows for wonderful natural light. We just installed a heat pump for heating and cooling, A/C needs in the living room, kitchen, dining area. Into the hall, there is a master bedroom with a king sized bed and a smaller en-suite bathroom, as well as a second bedroom with a queen size bed and a larger bathroom for the main floor to utilize. Both upstairs bedrooms offer a/c and ceiling fans, other fans are available in the property.
Wander downstairs where you will find two more queen sized bedrooms, one leading to what we call the twin room. It has a twin bed and trundle unit (sleeps kids only). Also downstairs is a great office space with a relaxing day bed and then a very spacious recreation room for lounging, watching television on the comfy sofas or playing ping pong or one of the great games we have included. It also has a full bath attached with a tub.
Our glorious views continue from every window. This house is perfect for extended families traveling together or multiple couples. There is a washer and dryer located on each floor for your convenience. Outside enjoy the very spacious back yard with a great fire pit are for roasting marshmallows, playing corn hole or bring some other back yard games you enjoy. Firewood is available at the corner of Grants Hill Road for minimal fee.
Supplied items: All linens and bath towels, some beach towels, a Kuerig and drip coffee brewer, Crock pot/air fryer, microwave, dishwasher, all the pots, pans and dishware you will need. We really enjoyed a lot of things about this property. The location was fantastic. We were able to stay away from the really busy Bar Harbor but be close enough to drive to Bar Harbor or Acadia as we liked. We had plenty of options for food, ice cream near the place as well. Another thing we really liked was the layout of the house. We were able to let the teens have the downstairs area for bedrooms and hanging out while the adults stayed upstairs. We enjoyed the firepit and hammock and walks around the neighborhood. The best beach on the island and great hikes are right outside the door. Overall - great place for our Acadia NP excursions

The property was spacious, clean, well-equipped, and exactly as advertised. We were able to easily enjoy the attractions of Mount Desert Island, being centrally located, and had beautiful views and outside dining and entertaining spaces to enjoy the scenery at the house. The neighborhood was very quiet and it was really perfect for a quiet family get-away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This house was beautiful and spacious in a quiet setting yet close to everything! We enjoyed every minute and fell in love with Maine! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!!

Stayed with 9 people ranging from 4 - 45 years of age. Location was good 20 minutes to everything you would want to get to in Acadia. Upstair bedrooms were a little warm for sleeping to our likening in the evenings. Kitchen has everything you would want to cook. Deck was great in the evenings. Super quiet and a good view of stars. King bed was super comfortable.

Beautiful view close to Acadia to hike. Very clean.

We had a wonderful time exploring Bar Harbor and the other harbors. The house was beautiful, great view, and very comfortable. We enjoyed our time and will definitely be back

Clean, comfortable, cozy. Just far enough away to be private but still close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. Woke up to two deer on the lawn the last morning, which was pretty neat!

Location is great and home is huge.

This house was perfect for our group of adult friends. Location perfect right in the middle of everything. House was nicely appointed with everything you would need, more beautiful than the pictures and the view from the deck is just stunning. Would highly recommend and if we ever head that way again would stay there without a doubt. Owners very helpful and available if you need them. Book it! You will be glad you did.

Very nice property and conveniently located to Bar Harbor and all the Acadia National Park sites.

Nothing but good things to say. House was fantastic. Even better than the photos. Great location. Spectacular views. Hope to stay there again on a future trip.

Loved the house, the space for extended family. Nice location.
Well-stocked with needed kitchenware, etc. Host thought of everything.

Really enjoyed our visit. The house is clean and the pictures are accurate . We enjoyed the deck and the close proximity to Acadia. Unfortunately it was unseasonably warm while we visited. The main floor has air conditioning and is very comfortable but the lower level 2 bedrooms and bath do not. There is no air conditioning or ceiling vents to allow the cool air from upstairs to sink down to the lower level. There were ample fans to use downstairs but they just blew warm air. The house is really nice but if the weather is hot, the lower level is almost unbearable.

I was here with a bunch of friends for a wedding, and the entire experience couldn’t have been better. Everything was flawlessly communicated to us, the house was exactly what we thought it would be, and overall it was just a beautiful place to stay. 5 stars!

Nice home! Worked out very well for a large family visit to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Checking was simple - we received the pass code the day before our arrival and GPS worked flawlessly to get us there.
The house was spacious with plenty of room for activities and sleeping. The neighborhood was very quiet and the location was perfect for accessing various points of the park, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and other spots on Mt. Desert.
There were plenty of towels, extra pillows, etc. and having washers and dryers on both levels was a plus. The kitchen was well stocked and the dining area was large enough for everyone, with plenty plenty of natural light throughout the house.
The view of Somme’s Sound and the mountains across the Sound was fairly good except for the continual clouds and fog that blocked some of the mountains (unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate - cold and wet for the entire trip).
The lupines were in full bloom and were gorgeous, with a large group of them around the house. We saw several deer, both in the yard and in the area as we were exploring.
Overall, a great house, well maintained and very clean.

Very large with plenty of room to spread out. A perfect distance to all the harbors. Loved the morning view with coffee and abundant lupines. My only con was a 9am check out was hard to get it all packed up, but we are not early risers!

Our extended family had a great time: 7 adults, 3 kids; 3 generations. Excellent house for family gathering. Surrounded by fields of lupines - perfect time of year for blooms (but watch out for the black flies, which also come out this time of year). Great location for Acadia National Park hikes and especially Echo Lake Beach for younger kids.

Perfect House when vacationing with family. My husband and I spent five nights with our adult children and grandchildren. It didn’t matter if the weather wasn’t ideal—we still hiked and played lots of board games at the dining table which has a gorgeous view of the Sound.

We had a great time and the house was perfect for our needs. The 13 year old had his space in the basement, and the kids room with the bunks and trundle was perfect for my 4 y/o and 18 month old. The house was clean and well furnished. My ONLY complaint would be that there seemed to be a lot of ants for early spring, but we just killed them when we saw them and kept everything sealed.
4.9
With three generations staying in the house, the space to spread out so everyone had their own corner was essential. We had an absolutely lovely time.
Thank you

The property was well taken care of and central to all of Acadia’s trails, etc. The owners were attentive to our questions. We especially appreciated being able to have our two dogs with us.

Fantastic home with great views of the sound! This is our second time staying at this house. Very comfortable and plenty of room. Some great hikes close by to enjoy during any season. We hope to return next year!

Very nice house, great deck with good views. Saw deer and fox in the neighborhood. We enjoyed the ping pong table and nice TV watching area for football! Kitchen was nicely appointed and stocked with basic essentials. Decent proximity to the various little villages in the area. Glad we weren’t staying in the very busy Bar Harbor.

The only small complaint we had was with light bulbs. Some burnt out and several flicked a lot. I sent an email to the owner but didn’t hear anything back. The home was a relatively short drive to everything on the island. Beautiful clean comfortable house with lots of space.

Wonderful property for our little family getaway! I would recommend this property, it was clean, spacious, and a quick drive to everything!

Nice House!
The location of the house was a short distance to all our daily activities. If we needed to stop back at the house it was easy to get to. The view out the back windows or sitting on the porch was so relaxing. The property was clean and every member of my family had a great time.
The only issue was the downstairs tub/shower drained slowly, so that water would accumulate in the tub while showering.

Perfect for our family reunion
We rented this house and the sister property at 4 Grant Hill Road for a family reunion. Everyone appreciated the quiet location and easy access to the Western parts of the island.
The home was lovely with comfortable sleeping and gathering areas. The only minus was that the room with the bunk beds is small and has no windows so whoever is sleeping there needs to be ready for that. The large deck was a perfect gathering area for the whole family to enjoy. We had a wonderful time, and appreciated both of the homes and easy communication with Erica.

Perfect House for Family Visit to Acadia
Magnificent view of mountains and Somes Sound from the large deck. Large yard was perfect for our active grandchildren. Hall Quarry location was peaceful, away from the daytime crowds. Swimming at nearby Echo Lake was a plus. The interior with open floor plan and bedrooms and laundries on two levels worked well for our extended family of 10 people.

There is lots of space inside and out! The views were beautiful! And just a short drive to wherever we wanted to be. This was a perfect place for our girls' reunion weekend! It would be good for families too!
4.9
Nice property, beautiful views of the sound, convenient to acadia national park and Bar Harbor. Worked well for my family of 10. Only concern is that kitchen could be stocked with some small saucepans as we do a lot of cooking verses eating out. But thorougly enjoyed our stay, the lupnies were beautiful, sad to leave

This property was just what we needed! Multiple bedrooms & plenty of space to spread out. It was located in a less busy area, so nice to escape the hustle & bustle. We enjoyed visiting Bar Harbor but staying outside that area was nice & quiet! We enjoyed the fire pit & saw 9 deer grazing one evening. Would recommend! Also very quick responses to questions which was greatly appreciated! Keep in mind, you will need to drive about 20 minutes to get into Acadia. Only minor inconvenience was needing more blackout curtains in the bedrooms, especially the east facing rooms.

This property exceeded our expectations! We were here to celebrate our youngest daughter’s graduation from UMaine Orono. Well stocked property, comfortable beds, great communication, and stunning views. We had a spectacular week with abnormally above seasonal temperatures! We hated to leave!

We really enjoyed our time at this property. It was close to many wonderful spots near Acadia and Bar Harbor. This house is comfortable and well stocked with many small things that made our stay really comfortable and easy. Would highly recommend!
