We rented this historical Spanish Colonial house for the month of January and enjoyed the ambiance of an architectural gem. Our reception was impersonal, however, due to the host being out of the country. Stephen was available via email and he was able from afar to troubleshoot our problems adequately. We both enjoy cooking and the kitchen was well equipped. Being able to pick fresh citrus was a plus. The house is filled with art including Stephen’s wonderful watercolours. The Great room was gorgeous and TV cable system there worked perfectly. Close proximity to downtown or beach. Well maintained.

This beautiful home was the perfect setup for our three generations staycation in Santa Barbra, directly across from the park where we enjoyed morning yoga and evening picnics. The home is close to beautiful hiking trails, highly recommend rattle snake canyon. (note, it's a hard hike) Morning walks to coffee shops on State street (dune coffee), wine and food in the Funk zone. The photos don't do the home justice, large rooms and modern kitchen with a cute courtyard. Stephen was very accommodating, we throughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.

Our Stay at Stephen's Home (Rose Garden/Mission Santa Barbara)
My Grandmother, Mother and I recently stayed at this property while we were in Santa Barbara visiting family in Montecito. Because we were in town for over a month, we decided to search for a home rather than stay at a hotel. We found a few available properties that met our criteria. However, we had trouble reserving a property that could check us in on short notice, given the length of the stay we required. After reading the reviews for Stephen's home, it was apparent that Stephen and his home consistently impressed their guests - so we booked it! The home itself was cozy, while also providing ample space for groups/families, plus a large private backyard (and lots of fruit trees!). It is beautifully decorated, and was very clean (Stephen also arranged for housekeepers/cleaners to come by multiple times throughout our stay). Stephen checked in with us multiple times to make sure that everything was going smoothly during our stay, and was timely in his responses to any questions that did come up. We truly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful home, and would definitely come back. Thanks again Stephen!

This is an older house, but very comfortable. Kitchen has recently been remodeled. Beds comfortable. Great location across from the rose garden at the Mission. Owner is very nice and accommodating.

This is a lovely SB home - we found it spacious, elegant and very well appointed, in a beautiful location facing the Mission and the rose gardens, and an easy drive or walk to State Street. The neighborhood appears very peaceful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in it. Our host was outstanding, and we felt very well looked after during our stay.

We loved this property! The owner was very honest about the fact that the house is a "heritage" building and hence we were not expecting to find totally modern appliances and fixtures. The charm of the Spanish revival architecture was truly beautiful and everything in the house functioned well. Location and setting of this property is perhaps one of the finest in Santa Barbara and looking out on the rose garden and lawn of the Mission never failed to impress. A beautiful back yard and many interesting walking routes all helped to make our stay most enjoyable. The owner kept in touch with us and had left a very complete list of local contacts. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family and we look forward to staying there in the future.

The house was a unique historic house across from The Mission Rose Garden. The property was well maintained and had all the amenities one would need. The owner was wonderful and very accommodating to all our needs. I certainly would recommend this property to anyone and will definitely stay there again in the future. The rose garden and park across the street made a perfect place for the grandchildren to play and the family to gather fora picnic.
My favorite restaurant is called Jane's in downtown. Also the trails and beaches are a big plus.
