We spent a week here with 4 adults, and 4 teens. It was awesome! Jim was super friendly and helpful. The old house layout is a little wonky, as to be expected of an old home but we loved the charm of it.
We were welcomed by a handwritten note, fresh flowers, and a bottle of wine - all unexpected nice touches!
We spent most of our time down by the water using the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboard. Lots of chairs and the canopy for shade made it our favorite spot. The views were incredible from the house, too. A couple times we could have used more life jackets but made it work ok.
The house is spacious and well kept. The comfy king beds were much appreciated by the adults! Having USB outlets on the lamps was helpful. The kitchen is small but very functional and beautifully renovated.
The only minor disappointing thing was that the downstairs shower shower liner needed to be cleaned. It is a very narrow shower/tub and would have been more enjoyable with a curved shower rod so it feels wider. The water pressure was great though in that bathroom. The upstairs shower pressure wasn't as good.
The house had plenty of beach towels for us all. There are lots of games in the cabinet. We made good use of the washer and dryer and appreciated having detergent available.
We recommend checking out Buttermilk Falls, Green Mountain Sugar House, Plymouth Cheese, Calvin Coolidge Historic Site, Thunder Falls, and Off the Rails while you're in the area.

We love southern Vermont and have stayed in the area many times. But this was our first time staying at Jim’s home. It was the perfect space for our annual family vacation. The location could not be better and the view is spectacular! It looks out at the whole of the lake and you can see the water from most of the house as well as the wonderful front porch. We played many games of Yahtzee at the dining room table - another great view of the lake.
Jim is a very thoughtful host, welcoming us personally and with a bottle of wine. The house was well-stocked with all the sundries - plenty of soap (laundry, hand, dish), paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, garbage bags, etc. unlike some places we’ve stayed.
It’s a steep path down to the beautiful lake area. If you are concerned about mobility, make sure you talk with Jim. The lakefront is stocked with great amenities including a pedal boat, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards. The renovated kitchen was a great place to cook and the renovated bathrooms were very nice. We had a 9 month old with us and the house worked well for her too.
My only advice is that the road in front is a busy one so you’ll want to keep an eye on younger kids when they are crossing to the water.
Thank you, Jim, for a wonderful visit! We hope to return!

This was a great place to stay for a post-flood Ludlow vacation. We wanted to support the area that has so much need right now and we are glad we did. The home was great for our family with two nicely renovated bathrooms and a well equipped renovated kitchen. Because the lake was unusable due to bacteria from the flood, we could not make use of the many boating options offered at this property, but there is a wonderful beach area where we sat admiring the unparalleled view! Easy access to Route 100 to Ludlow or north to Woodstock and beyond.

Magnificent view of Echo Lake - cars kept stopping to take pictures- and our very own beach to enjoy. Quaint home with plenty of room for our 7 people including two 2-year-olds. Our host could not have been more helpful. Great fishing, boating, and wonderful local sights. Don’t miss Buttermilk Falls

This house was prefect.
Just a crossing to the lake. The best view possible for morning coffee, and water toys for all ages to enjoy. We swam or played on the lake for hours with a picnic lunch, even went out early for some fishing and caught a bass. Quiet. Relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

Our vacation in Ludlow
The location of the property was perfect. Beautiful little beach for our 3 year old and great views. The house is across the road and it is a fast road so we had to be very careful with our grandchild. Jim was very attentive and we had plenty of sheets and towels. Since we were there for two weeks he came with clean sheets and towels in the middle of our stay. The interior of the house ,however, needs a makeover. It was spacious but very tired and unattractive. Could also use a couple of more chairs on the front porch, and there is really no outdoor space for a child to play on the property until yo cross the road.

Perfect!
Our photography group needed a home away from home for a Vermont Fall Foliage week, and this property checked all the boxes. Cozy and non-pretentious, plenty of space for the 6 of us, great communication from the property owner, fabulous view of Echo Lake and everything we needed to have a relaxing vacation getaway. We look forward to booking again!

We had a wonderful time at this property. It was a nice private location but close enough to major areas for our hiking and day adventures. And that view...it’s beautiful!

A True Vermont Gem
Jim was an absolutely perfect host. Communication was great and he lives nearby so he was there to answer any questions we had. We talked with him several times and he was one of those rare, genuine people that you can say right away is truly a great guy. We felt like family staying there.
The house was exactly as described, a beautiful old homestead complete with original ceiling beams and fireplace and additions to the original home obvious and reminiscent of when they were done. The house was also immaculately cleaned and maintained top to bottom.
While the beauty of the old home was everything we expected, all of the modern touches that are important to a comfortable stay were there. All of the kitchen appliances were new and the towels and linens were all plush and luxurious.
The view overlooking the lake was phenomenal. The kids and I went out on the lake canoeing and row boating every day we stayed. They loved it.
I would absolutely recommend renting this home to anyone.

Great relaxing week
The place has a million dollar view of the lake. We spent many relaxing hours on the porch admiring it. The beds were the most comfortable we've slept in. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the essentials and there were plenty of outdoor activities. The owner, caretaker, and neighbors were very friendly and helpful. We loved that the rental was located within 5 miles of restaurants and stores to pick up any needed essentials.
The only downsides were having to cross a rather busy road to get to the beach (but well worth it) and there were a lot of horseflies and bees at the beach, so bring plenty of bug repellent.

Great family week
We had an excellent family week at Echo Lake. Plenty to do and felt very safe. The home has the most amazing view. There were plenty of life vests and boats (3 kayaks, canoe, paddle boat) for all of us to use. The breeze in the evening kept us cool at night and the lake kept us cool in the day. We had an excellent time!

Kids had so much fun
My family had a great time. We would go here again. Kids enjoyed the fishing, swimming, jumping off the dock, playing in the sand, using the kayaks, canoe and paddle boats. The house had all the essentials. Lots of things to do in the area. The view from the house and deck is amazing. Family and neighbors were friendly and had great suggestions for things to do.

Great family house in perfect location
We had a great time at the lake! The house was perfect for our family and friends, accommodating all kids and adults comfortably. After being greeted by a gift basket and kind owner, we spent the week enjoying everything the house and lake had to offer: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, s'mores by the fire, and more! Thank you for sharing your home with us! We hope to come back again!

Wonderful lake vacation
Everyone in my family of 8 - husband, grown children, and young grandkids - enjoyed themselves thoroughly!
We were welcomed with a lovely note and gift basket, and were then pleasantly surprised to be greeted personally by the owner.
We liked the house very much. The dining room and front porch look out over the lake - and what a beautiful lake it is!
We loved the small sandy beach, gradual entry for young children, and all the boats at our disposal (kayaks, paddle boat, row boat).
We were pleased with all the things to do in the area, including a farm where the grandkids churned butter! There is a state beach on the other side of the lake, with a great playground. (Can't see or hear from the house, though). Grocery store was conveniently located. Also nearby was a lovely gift shop that serves maple creamees ( ice cream). Delicious! Nice mix of peaceful retreat and access to activities.
A few things that we didn't have any problem with, but that are worth a head's up:
1. There is a road between the house and the lake. It was reasonably well- traveled on the weekend, but quiet during the week. It didn't bother us at all. There are locks on the screen doors, which we appreciated.
2. The owner's family lives close by and may occasionally use the beach. Extremely nice people and very considerate, so not an issue at all for us.
3. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, glasses, dishes, cutlery, utensils, appliances, etc. You do need to bring or buy your own pantry items (flour, sugar, oil, spices, etc.)
4. The house isn't air-conditioned, but there are plenty of window and box fans and the breeze off the lake cools the house down nicely.
We've rented a number of summer lake-homes in Vermont. This was our favorite!

Wonderful place
We have spent a week here almost every summer for more than 20 years. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy VT. The house and beach are comfortable for a family (kids, grandkids etc..) or group of friends. The beach front is protected and private, with nice sand for kids but also perfect for kayaks and adults to hang out, swim, read and relax. Swimming is perfect and the raft provides a source for lots of fun. Ludlow is very nearby with a great bakery, Okemo and Killington for hiking or summer drives and local inns just down the street if you want to go out for dinner. The house, porch, yard and beach provide enough room so that people can spend time alone or time together.

Fantastic place with a one in a million view!
Had the pleasure of spending the week of July 25th up at Echo Lake in the Tepper home and had a great time. You can't beat the mornings waking up with coffee on the farmer's porch looking out over the lake, priceless! The beach area is very clean and there are loads of beach chairs to relax in while you take a break from the lake. The owners are very accomodating and really encourage you to enjoy the lake.
I highly recommend this property.

As Described...Very Pleasent to Deal With
Stayed over New Years Eve weekend with a group of 10 people (ages 24-25) and had a very nice time. The house doesn't come with anything special so be prepared to entertain yourself, but overall the house is very cozy and convenient. Nice living room area with plenty of seating and a nice fireplace. The kitchen is plenty big and the dining room was also spacious enough for our entire party. Very nice proximity to Okemo, about 7 minute drive, but I would recommend having an AWD vehicle. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend this house if you're not expecting anything crazy.
